Zod reigns on Smallville tonight, and chaos lurks in every corner no longer waiting to pounce. Then again, it's all just occurring in a vision so we won't have anything to worry about yet.

"Pandora" depicts a fiery future as Lois (Erica Durance) remembers it. Having disappeared for weeks, she returns to reveal the mystery. Tess (Cassidy Freeman) kidnaps her to find out just what happened to her, but hearing that type of news isn't quite what she expected.

Mayhaps. Who ever knows for certain--especially on Smallville--but nonetheless we now know the name and alias of the mystery man supposedly destined to sweep our favorite blond off her oh-so-sensible feet. Unfortunately for all Chlollie fans, it is not Oliver Queen after all. Sorry. (I feel your pain!) You may still recognize our new hero, however. During her interview with EW, executive producer Kelly Souders teased that this character might appear "familiar" and now we know why.

Remember episode 18 of season seven? Titled "Apocalypse"? This episode explored the lives of our characters as they might have been if Kal-El never arrived on earth. Notably, alternate Chloe came with one fiance portrayed by Carlo Marks. Am I ringing any bells? If not, brush off those dvds and take a look again because this guy just might be staying a while.

Smallville fans, prepare yourselves. After all the heavy drama, the banter is back. Lois' tightly wound bolt reflex retracted and the intrepid reporter reclaims her desk this week. Am I happy? Definitely. Am I frustrated beyond all reckoning? That too. Be patient. An explanation cometh.

"Powers, Activate!" An appropriate mantra for this episode, honoring Metropolis' youngest and trendiest superheroes. These are true megafans folks. Wonder twins Zan (David Gallagher) and Jayna (Allison Scagliotti) tweet, facebook and blog--all on behalf of their superhero idol, the Blur. Just one slight catch: crediting one's idol with botched crime fighting efforts generally destroys his reputation, rather than fueling his legend. Let me paint you a picture. Would you prefer undercover cops trussed up like turkeys? A blown power grid? A darkened Metropolis? Perhaps imitation is not always the best form of flattery after all.

The people behind Smallville are seriously hauling in the bigshots for the series, as they've managed to convince acclaimed actress Pam Grier to appear on several episodes. Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that she'll be joining the cast, debuting in the second hour of the Justice Society-themed episode - "Legends."

Pam Grier's presence isn't just the highlight of the upcoming episode. The character she'll be playing is also quite a stunner. The news has it that she's set to portray Agent Amanda Waller, a DC Comics villainess that went down in comic book history.

The Wonder Twins appear tonight on Smallville, adding to the array of guest stars that have overwhelmed the audience this season so far. On "Idol," our dear Clark (Tom Welling) runs into two teens hoping to help fight crime in Metropolis. Trouble is, well, they're causing a bit of trouble along the way.

Zan (David Gallagher of 7th Heaven) and Jayna (Allison Scagliotti of Warehouse 13) have long admired the daring endeavors of The Blur. Lois (Erica Durance) introduces them to the city and they are surely welcomed. Until they reveal how little they know about mastering their powers.

Another guest star is lined up for an episode this season nine of Smallville, as reports have confirmed the return of a charming character from the DC universe. Charming, of course, because she's going to cast yet another magic spell on the show. Actress Serinda Swan is ready to reappear on the show as Zatanna soon, giving fans another spellbinding surprise.

According to TV Guide Magazine, Swan will be seen on the upcoming episode "Warrior," which will air in the early weeks of next year. The powers behind Smallville are keeping mum about what her return brings, but we can bet she'll be stirring up a little fun for the others.

She might as well be Supergirl! And yes: I realize Kara would object to that statement.

But even without superpowers, Smallville's Lois Lane (Erica Durance) combines the talents of Nancy Drew, Sarah Connor and Katie Couric all in the body of Heidi Klum. Guys dream of her--a girl who drinks beer, calls out football plays in her sleep, attends monster truck rallies and still drops jaws in that little black dress. So what is the problem? Lois seems to have forgotten just how great she is herself. Let me quote:

There's a family reunion tonight on , as Clark (Tom Welling) faces his biological father at last. Julian Sands enters the scene as Jor-El, who comes to Earth in search of his son.

On "Kandor," Jor-El arrives at the Kent farm looking for Kal-El. Unfortunately for him, he isn't around and he instead encounters a different being - Chloe (Allison Mack). It's a good thing she doesn't intend to capture the guy and claim his powers. That's already someone else's job.

The CW has released two new clips for the upcoming episode of Smallville, and it looks as though it's more exciting than last week's Clois liplock. Well, "Kandor" marks Julian Sands' first appearance on the series as Jor-El. What's more, he's going face-to-face with Callum Blue's villainous Zod, who's hungry for some superpowers of his own.

On "Kandor," Jor-El arrives at the Kent farm looking for his son. However, Clark (Tom Welling) is occupied elsewhere so the newcomer meets Chloe instead. Unfortunately for them, Zod's on the lookout for the Blur and he thinks it's Jor-El.

Smallville is certainly on its way to becoming the longest-running show on The CW's current line-up, and it's not stopping there. As though the series itself had superpowers, it's refusing to end and is getting ready for yet another season. When executive producer Kelly Souders was interviewed by EW's Michael Ausiello, she spilled the beans.

Despite a slight drop in ratings due to the show's move to Friday nights, Smallville is slowly proving it's as strong as its protagonist. "We are really, really pushing for season 10," Souders told the publication. "We really hope it happens."

Temporarily ignoring the legends though, this episode offers all our favorite Metopolis personalities, a chance to shine, and personally, I loved the shared greatness of this ensemble effort.

Smallville ended season 8 with a shocking double murder as Davis and Jimmy both died, but the real shock was the rise of Zod. Now, for those who have already read all the Comic-Con news and have digested the season 9 info that was revealed, most of the spoilers won't come as a surprise. Then again, we did try to hold back on those stories. We're still on the Oliver Queen express here on Smallville, as another episode focused on the development his character is up tonight. However, it looks as though Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) are getting ready to steal the show. That's right, tonight's episode marks that defining moment that Clois fans have been waiting for all season.

On "Crossfire," Oliver (Justin Hartley) encounters a young street girl, who has an extraordinary power. Guest star Elise Gatien portrays Mia AKA Speedy, skilled in archery and the eventual prot??g?? of our Green Arrow.

There's going to be one loaded episode on this season of Smallville, so it's a good thing it's getting two hours of airtime. We reported earlier that Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Stargirl will be appearing on next year's "Society" installment, but we have yet another character to add on the list. Michael Ausiello of EW.com reports that Martian Manhunter will be back as well.

There's been a lot of buzz about what's new on Smallville lately, ever since three members of the Justice Society have been cast. Season nine has been hailed positively by fans so far, especially since we're seeing more and more comic book characters come to life.

First on our list today is Hawkman, and IGN TV reports that the role has been given to Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks. He already has quite a background on sci-fi and action shows like Burn Notice and Eureka, which will allow him to fit in perfectly on Smallville.

We're getting more Oliver (Justin Hartley) on this season of Smallville, but on tonight's episode the guy is suddenly kidnapped. On "Roulette," he's drugged and brought somewhere by this mysterious woman referred to in the title. She's masquerading herself as Victoria (guest star Steph Song) and her target tonight is Oliver.

However, Victoria isn't as bad as she seems. Though she looks capable of cutting someone's throat with a well-manicured nail, she's there to warn Oliver about something. She tells him that he's gotten involved in a dangerous game that might cost him his life. Of course, he's not giving up that easily.

8 Possible Future CW Shows

While the CW only has eight shows on TV right now, the network is working hard to find the next popular series by developing shows for pilot season. Traditionally, networks start out with a large number of shows in development, then some will get made into pilots, then the network will choose some of those to add to its schedule for Fall 2010.

Right now, the CW has at least eight very interesting projects in development, one of which could be the next Vampire Diaries or the next Gossip Girl. Which one will it be? Check out the initial descriptions to pick your favorite.

Smallville: Steve Bacic is the Archer to the Arrow

We've had a lot of new characters popping up on this season of Smallville, and we haven't even gotten to the Justice Society episode yet. Here's another bit of casting news for the show, and it greatly concerns Oliver's superhero identity. As if you didn't get that from the headline.

Anyway, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello and KryptonSite report that actor Steve Bacic has been cast as the Dark Archer. The character he's playing is going to be the mentor to the Green Arrow (Justin Hartley), teaching him skills in archery. Hm, it sure looks like Oliver's all ready for some major storylines this season.

We're going to play a bit on Smallville because tonight marks the return of the Toyman. Actor Chris Gauthier is back to portray this villain, and Oliver (Justin Hartley) better watch his back. The grudge held by Winslow Schott still hasn't dissipated, which means trouble for Queen and possibly even the whole of Metropolis.

On tonight's episode titled "Echo," we see Tess (Cassidy Freeman) persuading Oliver to attend a gala held for Queen Industries. He doesn't like the idea, but she tells him that they need to put the Board at ease regarding his status.

How DVR Ratings are Saving the CW

The traditional Nielsen ratings might say that shows like NCIS and Grey's Anatomy are on top, but when it comes to younger audiences and non-traditional ways of watching TV, the CW is way out in front.

The official premiere week for television was the week of Monday, September 21, and while the CW's shows had mostly premiered by then, they were still lumped together at the top of the DVR ratings report when the final +7 numbers came in. If you're new to ratings analysis, DVR +7 refers to the numbers of times a show was watched on DVR within seven days after it originally aired.

Smallville: First Comes Loss, Then Come Zombies

Oh good god, ZOMBIES. They're just scarier in all-caps, aren't they? Unfortunately, we've seen them all before - books, movies, plaguing the street while on the prowl for a cup of coffee at seven in the morning. Now, we're seeing them on Smallville and I'm thinking it's not such a wise move for the CW show.

The recent episode "Rabid" kicked off with a Clark (Tom Welling) surveying Metropolis in a sort of post-apocalyptic state. He has one thing in mind: Lois. Speeding off to the Daily Planet, he finds her crouched over a copier. Clark approaches, but if the bloody handprint on the glass door didn't clue him in, he's doomed.
