Ray Wise Enters 'Dollhouse'

Looks like the show that almost couldn't make it is now getting a lot of pretty impressive new cast members.

Now joining the cast of Dollhouse is Ray Wise, who last appeared on the CW's Reaper as Lucifer. (I only saw that show a few times, but I liked him.) Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that this time, he's playing Howard, a higher-up at the Dollhouse with a huge presence and a possibly huger (is that even a word?) humor.

Reaper: Preview of Finale "The Devil & Sam Oliver"

On tonight's season/series finale of Reaper - "The Devil and Sam Oliver" - Sam (Bret Harrison) and Andi (Missy Peregrym) try to find Tony (guest star Ken Marino) to help them translate the scroll Nina brought back from Hell. Sam discovers that he can summon The Devil with a specific incantation that will trap him into a competition. Sam challenges The Devil (Ray Wise) to a game of quarters, but they play to a draw and The Devil refuses a rematch, so Andi offers her soul as collateral.

The CW comedy is still awaiting negotiations whether it will see the light of day again. It was officially canceled by the CW mid-May but ABC Studios, which produces Reaper, is still in talks with CW affiliates to syndicate the show or maybe even sell it to cable. Its audience dropped slightly from an average of 2.70 million viewers during its rookie season to 2.25 mil for its sophomore run so far; the last episode reeled in 1.92 million viewers.

GLAAD Nominates 'Supernatural,' 'True Blood' for Awards

Today the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation released its nominees for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Aside from the usual television nominees like The L Word and Ugly Betty, there was one atypical nominee: Supernatural.

The GLAAD Media Awards have a special category for an individual episode of a show that doesn't feature a regular gay character. Supernatural was nominated for “Ghostfacers,” the faux reality TV series episode that featured intern Corbett (current 90210 jock Dustin Milligan) who had a gay infatuation with Ed, resulting in the classic line, “Ed, you have to go be gay for that poor dead intern.”

Reaper: Bret Harrison Hints About Season 2

Reaper, the brainchild of Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, has recently wrapped up its pilot season with the episode called “Cancun.” Of course, fans will have to wait awhile before the supernatural comedy returns for another 13-episode run as part of The CW's mid-season schedule. Meanwhile, Bret Harrison has hinted on what fans should expect for season 2.

According to TV.com's interview with lead star Harrison, fans can expect the new season to be packed with action.

'Reaper' Ends Its First Season Tonight

Previously on Reaper, we saw the biggest cliffhanger of all season—Tony (Michael Ian Black) proclaiming that “Sam is the son of the devil.” After sixteen grueling and funny episodes, we finally have it straight—Sam (Bret Harirson) is indeed the offspring of our classy old Satan (Ray Wise). Last week’s “The Leak” followed the crazy soul named Mike (Richard Burgi), who kept finding his way back to Earth. They suspected a leak in Hell, and Sam and Sock (Tyler Labine) eventually found out that it was Gladys (Christine Willes) who was lending him a hand in escaping the fires of Hell. However, Sam was able to convince the old Devil to let Gladys go, as she had bigger roles to play in the succeeding moments, without their knowing.

Tonight’s episode entitled “Cancun” will be the finale of the season, with 13 more episodes making up season two coming in the midseason.

CW Upfronts: Smaller Fall Schedule Announced with Pretty People Everywhere

The CW announced its fall schedule today and it features all good-looking people. I suppose one could make the argument that all television features good-looking people, but not to the extreme extent that the CW has taken it. You see, most of the CW's Fall schedule not only features good-looking people, the series themselves are about those people being good-looking, or at least it's a very important part of the series. There are three hours of new programming on the CW's Fall schedule, one of which may include the most highly-anticipated new series going into next season.

Before any Reaper fans go ballistic and worry about why the series isn't on the Fall schedule, don't worry. The CW has ordered 13 episodes of Reaper, which will hit the air at mid-season. There's a very good chance that it will take over Smallville's time slot at some point, but nothing is set in stone.

Bret Harrison Talks About His Experiences on the First Season of 'Reaper'

As Reaper comes to a close, fans have exerted efforts in letting The CW know how loyal the show’s fan base is. In fact, as soon as there was a hush on whether or not the show was returning for a sophomore season, fans went into frenzy and began showering the network with letter and emails showing their support for the show. Late last month, the LA Times reported that Reaper was officially on the bubble, and fans went into a "Save Reaper with Socks" campaign, which not only bombarded the network with socks, but also showed how passionate the fans were for the show.

It looks like their efforts paid off, as Reaper was indeed renewed for a second season, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports. Now that Reaper is officially safe, fans are looking forward to the last few episodes leading up to the season finale. Upfront week is an exciting time for any TV fan. By and large, this is the first time most viewers will learn about what new shows the networks are going to war with next season. For The CW network, upfronts are a time of unbridled optimism. As the far and away least successful major network, CW executives can hope and pray that this is the year they break through into the mainstream. FOX, if you remember, took many years to finally gain traction and eat into the big three networks. Now, we refer to FOX, ABC, NBC, and CBS as the big four. Reaper: New Episode "Rebellion" Airs Tonight

Ray Wise, veteran television and movie actor, is probably the most perfectly cast actor on a TV series this year. As the devil on Reaper, Wise brings the perfect combination of humor, mischief, and pure evil that you need out of a modern day Satan. Reaper fans can attest to the fact that Wise steals every scene he's in on the show, and is one of the main reasons I watch each and every week. Reaper aired it's last new episode until April 22 last night, but starting in April are five more season one episodes of The CW series. Ray discussed the new direction Reaper will be taking in those final five episodes, as well as what's going on with the future of the series.

Tyler Labine has been impressing television audiences in guest roles for years. Recently, Labine has appeared on The X-Files, Jake 2.0, Invasion, Traveler and Boston Legal. Last Fall, Tyler was cast in the new CW drama/sci-fi/comedy Reaper as sidekick Bert 'Sock' Wysocki. While Reaper hasn't taken off as some would have expected, the series has garnered universally positive reviews and a loyal fan base. Reaper is back in production right now on their to finishing up their first season, and a new episode airs tonight. On Tuesday, we talked to Tyler about how he got cast as Sock, his feelings about the show's potential, and what he's got planned for his future.

Reaper: New Episode 'Hungry for Fame' Airs Tonight

Do you remember Reaper? It's the CW series about a 21-year old named Sam, whose parents sold his soul to the devil, and who now has to catch escaped souls from hell for Satan. And, it's a comedy. Reaper was one of The CW's highly-touted freshman shows coming into the 2007-2008 TV season, though it failed to set the world on fire early in the year. Although reviews were largely positive, the ratings were mediocre in its initial pre-strike run. The CW has not yet made an announcement regarding Reaper's future past this season, and will likely make a decision based upon its performance the rest of the season, starting tonight. The first new episode of Reaper since the strike began airs on The CW at 9pm tonight.

The CW announced its revised post-strike schedule today, guaranteeing that big changes are in store for the network as it rolls into midseason. 'Reaper' Star Talks About His Inner Slacker

Reaper fans know Bret Harrison as the bounty hunter for Satan who tracks down evil souls that have escaped hell. But prior to his new found mission, he has also been a slacker who went by life as effortlessly as possible. Although he has a few things in common with his character, Sam Oliver, the 25-year-old actor reveals that he's actually quite ambitious.

“I found, from the earliest stage, that I was ambitious. Not in terms of school. I was a slacker in school. But, I knew from a very early age, exactly what I wanted to do. There's a peace to the guy who can say, ‘I don't know, but I'm figuring it out while I'm playing video games, eating pizza and drinking beer.' I think the slacker has a happier life,” he told MediaBlvd Magazine.

Reaper hits us up with a Halloween episode tonight and we learn that Beelzebub is not a big fan of the popular holiday. Who doesn't like Halloween? It's crazy. I've been pining for some the writers to decide how they want to utilize Andi. I'm still of the opinion that she should be brought into the loop and help the guys find the escaped souls, because at this juncture her character doesn't serve much of a purpose except for frustrating Sam. Tonight, the Devil gets angry at Gladys the DMV Employees for taking a vacation and decides to take it out on Sam. Also, the great comedian Patton Oswalt guest stars as Leon on tonight's Reaper.

The CW Orders Three Additional Scripts of 'Reaper'

Reaper, the highly-acclaimed new series from The CW, has just become the latest new series to receive an order for additional scripts. Reaper hasn't been picked up for a full season just yet, only three extra scripts, but this move is typically a pre-cursor to a full-season order. Reaper was one of the best reviewed new series of the Fall season, but has fallen short of expectations in the ratings. The show is routinely losing viewers from its lead-in, Beauty and the Geek. However, it's obvious that the CW has faith in Reaper and wants to give the show every chance to succeed.

Reaper: Episode 1.5, "What About Blob" Recap

Reaper, for the show to become sustainable, is going to have to be able to function outside of its monster of the week aspect. While these first five episodes of season 1 have been used to establish the formula and the characters involved, Reaper has set up some good on going story lines. For the first time all season, I liked what tonight's Reaper episode did with Andi and Sam's relationship. Andi is getting sick and tired of Sam's lying and flakiness, and Sam contemplates telling her the whole truth. Eventually, I'd like Reaper to go the way of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with all the main characters allowed entrance into the Scooby Gang, but for now Andi being on the outside looking in is fine. The Devil clearly does not want many people to know about Sam's secret, but you'd have to think that unless Sam lets Andi in, their relationship will continue to crumble. Anyway, tonight's episode involved a lot of slime, which is never a bad thing.

Reaper: The Sam and Andi Problem

I fear that Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas have placed two of their lead characters in a difficult long term predicament. Main character Sam and his love interest Andi, through four episodes, are exactly where they were in the pilot: Best friends harboring secret romantic feelings for each other. The problem with the way the two of them have been is that there is no logical place for them to go in future episodes. Instead of beginning the series with Sam meeting Andi, or with them being on merely OK terms, the two came in with a strong bond, its origin unknown to the viewing audience. Since they became friends off-screen before Reaper's time line began, the only potential growth in their on-screen relationship is of the romantic variety.

Reaper keeps on keepin' on. I've thoroughly enjoyed every episode so far, and tonight was no exception. Ray Wise got to stretch his legs as The Devil tonight, actually playing a major part in the action, unlike previous episodes. My biggest complaint with Reaper is that the Andi/Sam relationship keeps spinning its wheels. How long can they really keep these two apart? The problem is that they came into the show as best friends. There was already sexual tension. The relationship can't grow anymore in its current form. The will they/won't they route just isn't going to work much longer. They either need to hook up or one of them has to find a significant other. End of story. But, anyways, who feels like a recap?
