K-Ville: Episode 10 "Ride Along" Recap

This episode of K-Ville opens with Captain Embry telling Marlon and Cobb that they've been volunteered to have a New York Herald reporter as a ride along. Neither of them are real thrilled with the idea for their own reasons.

Cobb, of course, is worried about his secret coming out and Marlon is concerned that another outsider will come in with a bias and write an unflattering story about his city. We know there will be a nasty murder scene, there always is. How will this ride along affect how the guys do their job?

This episode of K-Ville begins in a Karaoke Bar on Bourbon Street. Almost the whole squad, minus Cobb, is drinking and listening to Marlon sing some Wilson Pickett “In the Midnight Hour”. Just as he is finished, they all get paged.

The crime scene is a warehouse with Mardi Gras floats and there are two dead bodies. The squad also finds a self proclaimed homeless guy hiding in one of the float heads. Marlon recognizes him as someone he saved during the floods of Katrina. The guy plays clueless as to what happened in the warehouse.

K-Ville: Episode 8 "Flood, Wind, and Fire" Recap

Previously on K-Ville, Charlie abandons his post during the flood, comes back, wants his job back, faces opposition from Marlon. He helps Marlon and Cobb with a case, is injured. Marlon eventually vouches for him and he gets his job back.

Tonight's case is about arson and a dead insurance adjuster. How do they connect? Will Cobb find romance while finding an arsonist and will Marlon's personal life continue to take a positive track? And how does Charlie figure in all of this?

K-Ville's body of the week is a plastic surgeon with a briefcase full of money that wasn't taken when the good doctor was bludgeoned to death. This week's story is about Dr. Steven Schmidt, his daughter Melissa and Marlon's childcare issues.

Marlon's wife is out of town tending to her sick father and left Latonya with her dad. All through the episode, he's late picking her up and he keeps promising her different animals from a puppy to a dragon. There is no doubt that Marlon loves his daughter, and that plays a big role in solving this weeks case.

K-Ville: Episode 6 "AKA" Recap

After recaps, this episode of K-Ville opens with the guys getting a call. There is an armed robbery, possible car-jacking. When they get there, the victim is shot and the suspects run. They split up and chase them. Cobb catches one and announces it over the radio. The suspect recognizes him from his previous life and after catching Cobb by surprise, he overpowers him. When Glue Boy arrives, he's beaten by the guy and hurt badly. Before he loses consciousness, he kills the suspect.

K-Ville Episode 1.6 "Critical Mass" Recap

It's Sunday morning in K-Ville and partners, Cobb (Cole Hauser) and Marlon (Anthony Anderson) are walking down the street on duty. Cobb offers to cover for Marlon for the rest of the shift, but Marlon turns him down saying his family was in church anyway. Cobb asks why he doesn't meet them there as a surprise, and Marlon again turns him down. I get the feeling that there's a story here ...

Just then the partners get a call. There was a 911 call from St. Lazarus church, possible shots fired and a possible hostage situation. St. Lazarus is Marlon's childhood church, but not his family's present parish. The police are confused when they hear singing come from the church.

'K-Ville' Inspires New Orleans Viewers to Throw Weekly Gumbo Parties

New Orleans-based viewers of FOX's K-Ville, a show set in the city once ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, are enjoying the new drama series so much that some of them have decided to throw gumbo parties during the show's Monday broadcasts.

The idea to throw a weekly gumbo party came to New Orleans local and Audobon Aquarium of the Americas bird handler, Tom Dyer, following K-Ville's September 17 premiere, wherein Anthony Anderson's Marlin Boulet's made repeated references to “gumbo parties.”

Tawny Cypress Says 'K-Ville' "More of a Buddy Cop Show"

Crime and cop dramas continue to infiltrate the airwaves nowadays, which is why the need to innovate is more pressing than ever. One of the latest ones to air is FOX's K-Ville, and for series star Tawny Cypress, the show has succeeded in distinguishing itself from other shows in the same genre because for one, it focuses on the “fun interaction” between the characters, and for another, it is set in New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina, which allows for more diverse and fresh storylines.

"[K-Ville is] more of a buddy cop show. It's a real fun interaction between the characters, but also a lot more action,” Cypress, who plays Ginger “Love Tap” LeBeau, told UnderGroundOnline. “Beyond that, we are New Orleans. We have story lines that are completely different than the ones that you have already seen, things very specific to New Orleans after Katrina and before Katrina.”

K-Ville: Episode 1.4 "No Good Deed" Recap

We start of this week's episode of K-Ville with a scene in the past of Cobb (Cole Hauser) literally finding dirty money and washing it. Back in the present, he sits in his car watching this female outside of a FEMA trailer. In another flashback, Cobb and his cell mate, Sonny are in their cell talking about Sonny's girlfriend AJ and we, again, see Sonny carving her initials into the wall of the cell.

Back in the present, Cobb goes to the trailer and gives AJ an envelope containing $21, 250 and tells her that it's from Sonny. He tells her that he was a correctional officer before becoming a cop and that he got to know Sonny before he died. Cobb makes up this story about how Sonny won this money gambling and that it was with his personal property recently discovered in the flooded jail.

'K-Ville' Stays on Key

Set against the backdrop of post-hurricane Katrina New Orleans, K-Ville is steeped in very specific sights, sounds and culture. The show has promised as much authenticity in depicting the flavor and feel of the southern big easy. Not the least of the key elements the show strives to keep faithful to the region is the music which is part and parcel of the New Orleans scene.

For K-Ville, songwriter/producer Adam Anders took a piece by New Orleans' own Dr. John and gave it just enough tweaking to create a more upbeat and hipper sound, representative of K-Ville's modern day police-driven, crime-fighting and law-enforcing setting, while staying true to the rhythm and blues of the city.

This week K-Ville opens with a dead body found in the water. The victim is identified as Councilman Clay Beelman, former DA. There was a blue fake nail with a magnolia painted on it found in the skin of the body.

Back at the station, Marlon gets into it with the current DA, Lyndsey Swann about the late Councilman. Lyndsey feels that he was a good man and helped train her, and Marlon is anti-Beelman because as councilman, he was trying to bulldoze an East NO neighborhood to make a park.

Anthony Anderson is best known for his comedic talents, but despite expressing his desire to return to the world of sitcoms, the 37-year-old actor admitted he found it hard to turn down the lead role in FOX's new drama, K-Ville.

"I had really wanted to get back in the half-hour world and have some fun," Anderson told the Los Angeles Times. "But it's hard to argue with the president of a network who wants to cast you as the lead of a drama."

Last week on K-Ville, we were introduced to Trevor Cobb, Marlon Boulet and the rest of their squad from the New Orleans Police Dept. Cobb confessed his criminal past to his new partner and we were left with the sight of them burying that past in Boulet's yard.

This week the action begins with a jailbreak from the facility that Cobb was in. Three inmates escaped and the squad is working overtime on the manhunt. Cobb has a plan to capture the escapees that differs from the plan laid out by the correctional department and it takes them out of the area that the rest of the team is working.

We begin K-Ville with an introduction, of sorts, to our two stars, Trevor Cobb, played by Cole Hauser and Marlon Boulet, played by Anthony Anderson. The date is Sept. 1, 2005 and we see Trevor in some kind of grate or cell with the water rising. Marlon is on duty attempting to help residents in the aftermath of the hurricane. He sends his partner, Charlie, to the squad car to get something to bandage the arm of a victim and Charlie drives off and abandons him.

Tawny Cypress hit it big last year with a role in the smash hit Heroes as Simone Deveaux, the high class woman torn between Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) and Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera). Her character's death may have taken her out of that show, but this season she finds a new home in New Orleans with the FOX drama K-Ville. The show, which premieres Monday, September 17 at 9pm, is about that city's police force trying to start over after Hurricane Katrina.

In BuddyTV's 2007 Fall TV Guide, we assessed each night to see which shows the major networks were pitting against each other, and determined which ones would emerge victorious in the ratings war.

Earlier this year, FOX sought charges against a pirate for releasing the premiere of 24 to the internet. Apparently, they've learned a few things in the meantime. Most prominently, this giving away of advanced premiere's can be a good thing. The network is experimenting with using the internet for pre-release this season, starting with the New Orleans based buddy cop show K-Ville. Will this marketing tactic help, or hinder?

Fox’s upcoming police drama, K-Ville, is about life in New Orleans two years after Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc and destruction upon the largest city in Louisiana. However, though the streets continue to be chaotic, criminals roam free and crime labs, jails and police stations still face ruin, a dedicated group of cops are ready to reclaim and rebuild their beloved city.

The series, which was created by writer and executive producer Jonathan Lisco, promises to deliver a mixture of intriguing crime and dramatic personal stories, spanning from Garden District’s Victorian Mansions to the Lower 9th Ward.
