'Torchwood' Actor In Talks for 'Desperate Housewives' Role

While there is still no final word on the matter, but Torchwood star John Barrowman reveals that he was flying to Los Angeles to talk with Desperate Housewives people for a possible role. Barrowman, 42, best known for playing Captain Jack Harkness on Doctor Who and eventually Torchwood, adds that it's still too early to discuss it.

"I'm off to Los Angeles on Sunday again. I probably shouldn't say this but I've got a meeting with the execs of Desperate Housewives," he told Radio 1's Chris Moyles. "Can you believe it, I'm going to be a Desperate Housewife!"

'Torchwood' Season 3 Kicks Off Five-Night Affair Tonight

Torchwood returns tonight on BBC America, kicking off a five-part nightly affair with the continuation of the exciting season 2 finale that saw two of the show's five main characters, Owen (Burn Gorman) and Toshiko (Naoko Mori), killed off.

On the first hour of the Doctor Who spin-off, set to air tonight 9pm, agents "Captain Jack" Harkness (John Barrowman), Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) and Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) spring into action after they detect alien activity - "We are coming."

San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Saturday Schedule

The Saturday and Sunday Comic-Con schedules were released over the weekend. I thought things would get really good on Saturday, but the list is less than impressive. I suppose with four full days of Comic-Con, you can spread out the really big panels. Once again, below is a list of our picks for the day. Check it out and if you see anything missing, check the full list here.

One thing I'm curious about is the Chuck panel. Why is it at 10am? Doesn't Chuck deserve one of the better time slots? Wouldn't NBC push for a better panel time? Chuck already had some struggles last season, but this season promises to kick-ass and the new kung fu twist is perfect for the Comic-Con fans. I stand perplexed. Either way, it looks like I'll be spending my morning with a donut, cup of coffee and my favorite show Chuck.

GLAAD Nominates 'Supernatural,' 'True Blood' for Awards

Today the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation released its nominees for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Aside from the usual television nominees like The L Word and Ugly Betty, there was one atypical nominee: Supernatural.

The GLAAD Media Awards have a special category for an individual episode of a show that doesn't feature a regular gay character. Supernatural was nominated for “Ghostfacers,” the faux reality TV series episode that featured intern Corbett (current 90210 jock Dustin Milligan) who had a gay infatuation with Ed, resulting in the classic line, “Ed, you have to go be gay for that poor dead intern.”

'Torchwood' Season 3 Fires Up Cardiff

It's no secret that the third season of Torchwood is currently filming in Cardiff, Wales. But it's also hard not to create buzz when the set involves a massive crater that's shrouding a major city in smoke.

According to WalesOnline, the Torchwood film crew spent several days transforming the area outside Wales Millennium Centre into a huge explosion crater. With smoldering signs of smoke, fire and twisted metal, it serves up an obvious hint to what's to come for Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and the rest of the gang.

Torchwood: Four More Cast Members Revealed

Now that Torchwood is down by two cast members, fans are wondering how the reduced alien-catching team will manage in the upcoming third season. But fans need not worry because according to the official Torchwood Magazine from Titan Publications, the show is bringing in four new cast members to aide Captain Jack (John Barrowman) in his action-packed battle for the future of the human race against the most wicked force.

According to Torchwood producer Peter Bennett, Lucy Cohu, Susan Brown, Cush Jumbo, and Rik Makarem will take up roles in the five-episode serial called Children of the Earth, which has been shooting in Cardiff since late August.

John Barrowman is showing no signs of slowing down. Over the next few months, the 41-year-old actor will be releasing his new album “Music Music Music,” work on another season of the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood and star in a new primetime Saturday night entertainment program, a la The Sonny and Cher Show.

Just like his Captain Jack character on Torchwood, which was created for him, Barrowman's new BBC light entertainment show is also designed around him. The pilot has already been filmed and features song, dance and some audience participation, similar to that of the Donny and Marie Osmond Show.

Silva Screen Records has just announced the release date of Torchwood's Original TV Soundtrack. On Monday, September 22, fans can finally a grab a copy of the much awaited CD that features music from Torchwood's first and second season.

Songs featured on the Torchwood soundtrack are composed by Ben Foster, who acted as conductor on Torchwood's root series Doctor Who and then went on to co-write the music for the first two series of Russell T Davies' program, and Murray Gold, best known for his powerful score for Doctor Who which is widely regarded as a major element in the revival of the classic cult series.

Following the release of “Another Side,” the album made up entirely of cover versions of popular songs made famous by other artists, John Barrowman has decided to work on yet another album. This time, it's called “Music Music Music,” and it features songwriting contributions from Take That's Gary Barlow.

Barrowman, who presently stars as Captain Jack Harkness on the Dr. Who spin-off Torchwood, is no stranger to the music circuit. In fact, his musical abilities have been featured in films such as in the Cole Porter biopic De-Lovely, where he had a duet with Kevin Kline singing “Night and Day,” and in the 2005 Mel Brooks film The Producers, where he sang “Springtime for Hitler.” In addition, he also performed in and co-presented a BBC One Series called The Sound of Musicals, in which performs from West End musicals sing songs from the shows.

In case you haven't heard, Marvel is presently working on yet another film featuring Captain America, the patriotic character who was often depicted fighting the Axis powers of World War II. The highly anticipated film is called The First Avenger: Captain America, the first feature in nearly 20 years since the release of the 1990 direct-to-video film Captain America starring Matt Salinger. The science fiction series Torchwood has been attracting quite an audience since the British import began airing on American screens in September 2007. Before production for the show's third season began, the cast and crew flew across the pond (and beyond) to San Diego, to participate in their very first panel at the Comic-Con. Right after their arrival, though, show co-executive producer Julie Gardner and actress Naoko Mori talked to reporters to discuss some details about the upcoming third season.

Filming is due to begin for the third season which, unlike the last two seasons, will be composed of only five episodes. “[We] wanted to break the format and do something different, particularly after how powerful the climax was with the death of two major characters,” Gardner revealed. “So we're telling one big story in season 3 and putting [the Torchwood crew] under a huge amount of pressure and just seeing how they cope with their numbers depleted.”

Rumors about the cancellation of Torchwood can now be put to rest as TV Guide confirms directly from Cardiff that the series will return for a third season. In fact, the new episodes are presently being developed and shooting is expected to start in the middle of August for airing on BB1 in the spring of 2009.

While scripts have been confirmed, Torchwood will not have the usual 13-episode run. Instead, a single five-episode story arc will be presented, possibly all aired in the same week as a mini-series.
