Last night's episode of The Ultimate Fighter season 8 saw the victory of Team Mir over Team Nogueira as Vinny Magalhaes defeated Jules Bruchez by armbar submission. While the bout still offered some action, it was deemed quite boring by most UFC fans.

Vinny Magalhaes, for those who are not familiar, is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who currently trains with Team Quest and UFC star Dan Henderson in Temecula, California. He has spent the last 10 years perfecting his martial arts skills while also studying English, Spanish and Portuguese languages.

Team Hughes Vs. Team Serra for UFC 'The Ultimate Fighter' Season 6

It's official. UFC and SpikeTV announced today that season 6 of The Ultimate Fighter will feature Team Serra against Team Hughes. This amounts to current Welterweight Champion Matt Serra leading his team of Ultimate Fighting hopefuls against past champion Hughes' team. In what has become a prevailing theme of The Ultimate Fighter, a future match between the coaches has already been booked for November, 2007.

At the very least the UFC is swiftly stealing away professional boxing's former audience. The Ultimate Fighter 4 is a reality show that acts as two separate 8-man tournaments, one for welterweights and one for middleweights. The beauty of The Ultimate Fighter is that, for an hour-long show, almost half the episode is always dedicated to that week's fight. It's only been two episodes, yet I believe I've heard an off-camera Matt Serra yell, "Hamm-ah Fist Elbow" about 8,000 times. If you don't like blood this is not the episode for you. Team Mojo has good team chemistry and are feeling confident after stealing the power with Shonie's episode one victory. Over a couple fire-pit meetings, Mojo gameplans the rest of the first round, creating match-ups they think they'll win.

Shonie Carter can fight. When you are a veteran of over two hundred fight worldwide, you don't need be in shape. Especially if you're fighting a guy named Rich. The first episode of THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 4: THE COMEBACK gets right down to business. Dana White, President of UFC and host of this year's show, explains the concept behind season 4: Instead of bringing in new-comers, TUF 4 will focus on quality, veteran fighters who, for some reason or another, have been successful in MMA fighting yet have never fought in a title bout. Hence, The Comeback. The winner of each weight class (welterweight and middleweight) receives a title fight and $100,000. Easy enough, right.

The Ultimater Fighter 3: Ed Herman vs. Kendall Grove

On Saturday night, I watched a bunch of big dudes beat the crap out of each other. That's right, it's The Ultimate Fighter on SpikeTV. The exhausting three-hour finale of The Ultimate Fighter 3 was held in front of a live audience in Las Vegas on Saturday night and I was there on my couch to witness the raw power and emotion that was on display. On the card that night were four fights: Keith Jardine Vs. Wilson Gouveia, Josh Haynes vs. Michael Bisping, Sam Stout vs. Kenny Florian, and Kendall Grove vs. Ed Herman. They were mostly good fights, somewhat evenly matched (except for the Haynes/Bisping battle: Bisping absolutely destroyed him), and featured some inspiring performances. My favorite match that night was easily the Grove/Herman middleweight fight.
