Prepare to say goodbye to the Queen of Talk. Multi-award winning talk show host Oprah Winfrey has decided to pull the plug on The Oprah Winfrey Show, the highest-rated talk show in American television history. A spokeswoman for Winfrey's production company, Harpo, has confirmed that Winfrey will make the announcement on her show on Friday.

"Tomorrow, Oprah will announce live on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history," Tim Bennett, president of Harpo, said in a message to affiliates. "The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on Sept. 9, 2011."

The premiere episode of the upcoming 23rd season of The Oprah Winfrey Show is airing on September 8th, and what better way to kick off another insightful year than to have this year’s Olympian athletes coming home to the show? The Associated Press reports that gold medalists Michael Phelps, Nastia Liukin and Kobe Bryant, and some 150 more U.S. Olympic team members will be appearing on the season premiere of Oprah’s talk show.
