FOX Renews Seth MacFarlane's 'American Dad'

American Dad, the FOX series created by Seth MacFarlane which has been recently honored with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program, will continue to follow the twisted adventures of CIA agent Stan Smith in Langley Falls now that FOX has picked up the show for its sixth season.

8 Possible Future CW Shows

While the CW only has eight shows on TV right now, the network is working hard to find the next popular series by developing shows for pilot season. Traditionally, networks start out with a large number of shows in development, then some will get made into pilots, then the network will choose some of those to add to its schedule for Fall 2010.

Right now, the CW has at least eight very interesting projects in development, one of which could be the next Vampire Diaries or the next Gossip Girl. Which one will it be? Check out the initial descriptions to pick your favorite.

Heroes: T-Bag, Darth Maul Get Season 4 Roles

Looks like Heroes is getting injected with a lot--a hell lot. Four names have been thrown into the pot and set to play roles in the upcoming fourth season of the show.

First up is a familiar villain, at least to those who have seen Prison Break: Robert Knepper has signed on to play Samuel, previous referred to as the "Carnival Barker" in previous releases. For at least six episodes, we'll see this charismatic guy wreck havoc on all the heroes by peeking into all of their lives. That, and he's evil, and he's got a very wicked sense of humor.

'The L Word' Series Finale Infuriates Fans

Last night, television's only lesbian drama ended after 70 episodes and six seasons. The two-hour block given to The L Word was split up into a one-hour tribute episode and a one-hour series finale. The first hour hailed the series as groundbreaking and as a show worthy of the history books. The drama starring Jennifer Beals, Laurel Holloman, Katherine Moennig, Mia Kirshner, Leisha Hailey and Pam Grier was the first television show to explore the lives and loves of lesbians in West Hollywood as well as the first series with a deaf-lesbian character and a regularly occurring transsexual character. The L Word fans across the nation tuned-in in the hopes of seeing a wedding, a funeral, a baby, or at least a murder case solved. Major Spoilers Below:

The final season of the Showtime gay show The L Word will come to a close tonight ending six seasons of what creator and executive producer Ilene Chaiken calls “a groundbreaking series that well surpassed its niche as a gay show.” In the episode “Last Word,” the girls will reportedly find themselves in a situation with the law, while Sergeant Duffy (Lucy Lawless) investigates Jenny's (Mia Kirshner) death, where someone will take the fall.

“It has been a privilege to do this series and tell these stories and have these characters in my life and to share them with the show's passionate fans,” says Showtime Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt, adding that he is proud of the show's legacy. "The title of the show became part of the lexicon, and the breadth and reach of the characters and storylines are a testament to the talent of Ilene Chaiken and her incredible cast.”

Previously on The L Word, Tina (Laurel Holloman) got blamed for the missing movie negatives due to her frustration over the film's new ending. Though she eventually suspected that Jenny (Mia Kirshner) stole them, Jenny denied it and proved that she's not allowed on studio grounds anymore. Phyllis (Cybill Shepherd) let Bette (Jennifer Beals) in on a secret, and Kit (Pam Grier) and Helena's (Rachel Shelley) new club opened. But the biggest story of the night was the budding romance between Jenny and Shane (Katherine Moennig).

Tonight's episode called “Leaving Los Angeles” finds Shane and Jenny still melting over each other. The question is: how long will it last? It seems that Jenny wants Shane to do away with past associations and if Shane doesn't live up to Jenny's expectations, then the relationship is likely to end quickly.

The L Word kicked off its sixth and final season with a murder mystery that paved the way for a major story arc that would play out the rest of the season. Jenny was found dead and because of this, the lives of everyone around her are turned upside down, especially since they are also suspects. Of course, viewers didn't find out who killed Jenny in the premiere episode. Instead, the series will be featuring a lot of flashbacks of the months leading up to the murder so viewers can put the pieces together.

Last time we saw The L Word, Bette (Jennifer Beals) encountered an old college friend which made Tina (Laurel Holloman) question who much she trusts her partner while the revenge-seeking Jodi continued to frustrate Bette. Max (Daniela Sea), on the other hand, received the most disappointing news after learning that she's four months pregnant.

GLAAD Nominates 'Supernatural,' 'True Blood' for Awards

Today the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation released its nominees for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Aside from the usual television nominees like The L Word and Ugly Betty, there was one atypical nominee: Supernatural.

The GLAAD Media Awards have a special category for an individual episode of a show that doesn't feature a regular gay character. Supernatural was nominated for “Ghostfacers,” the faux reality TV series episode that featured intern Corbett (current 90210 jock Dustin Milligan) who had a gay infatuation with Ed, resulting in the classic line, “Ed, you have to go be gay for that poor dead intern.”

The ladies are back for the final season of The L Word and things have gotten a little crazy... or rather crazier. The beginning of the sixth season starts off with a bang as Lucy Lawless guest stars as a detective working on the case of who killed Jenny Schecter (Mia Kirshner). The entire sixth season will revolve around the mystery. Or rather, we know Jenny's dead, but we don't know who killed her as we flashback three months to the wrap party of Lez Girls. The storyline continues from there as viewers are tantalized and confused as various characters continue to threaten Jenny's life. Showtime has even set up a fantasy league where you get points each episode if the characters you picked threaten Jenny.

As I have seen the first four episodes of this season, I'll tell you that it's going to be a good one. Red herrings are everywhere and I honestly still have no clue who killed Jenny. Anyways, check out the season six premiere below and be sure to let us know what you think.

Fans of Showtime's The L Word should start gearing up for the upcoming final season of series, which is set to join two other shows premiering in January. Tagged by Showtime as a “fab female triple-header,” January 18 will see the final episode of The L Word premiering, followed by the comedy United States of Tara and the second season of Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

We previously reported that The L Word will be spawning a spin-off, which Showtime CEO Matt Blank says will come from the “storyline at the end of The L Word, the final episode in the final season, [in which] there will be an open-ended component to it.”

'The L Word' Alum Joins Cast of 'Grey's Anatomy'

It has already been announced that Kevin McKidd, formerly of Journeyman, will be making hearts go pitter-patter on Grey's Anatomy. He'll be playing a military doctor, Major Owen Hunt, who'll catch the eye of our favorite robotic resident, Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh).

In more Grey's Anatomy casting news, EW's Michael Ausiello reported last week that Janina Gavankar, recently of The L Word, will be joining the cast of Grey's Anatomy as an intern, and Brandon Scott (Cold Case) will also be checking into Seattle Grace Hospital as a junior McDreamy.

Showtime Orders a Spin-Off for 'The L-Word'

Fans of The L-Word will be happy to know that Showtime is finally ordering a spin-off of the series, they announced on Thursday. In fact, creator Ilene Chaiken was set to write and produce the pilot presentation of the spin-off, which will follow Leisha Hailey’s character, Alice Pieszecki, as she moves on with her life, closing the chapter of The L-Word.

Showtime already gave us a hint of what’s to come for the show, as CEO Matt Blank announced during the TCA that “[W]e're doing this interesting thing: The storyline at the end of The L Word, the final episode in the final season, there will be an open-ended component to it and Ilene is going to carry that story along on the Internet, which we think is an interesting way to keep The L Word experience going. Then if we decide to go ahead with the spin-off that storyline will segue into the new series.”

Elizabeth Berkley Joins 'The L Word'

After playing Horatio Caine's (David Caruso) ex-lover, Julia Winston, on CBS' hit procedural drama CSI: Miami, Elizabeth Berkley makes her way into yet another TV series. This time, she'll be joining the cast of Showtime's The L Word for a multi-episode arc.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Berkley will be appearing on The L Word as a straight girl that got away from Jennifer Beals' character Bette Porter in college.

The folks at Showtime had plenty to be excited about as their panels at the TCA began. Yesterday the network finally broke through at the Emmys to score its first ever nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for Dexter and also saw acting nominations for Michael C. Hall from Dexter and Mary-Louise Parker from Weeds.

While the past year brought ratings records and plenty of awards, Showtime is looking to the future. The network just ordered two more seasons of Weeds following the current one, it's picking up two new comedies starring a pair of top-tier actresses and a potential spin-off for The L Word.

'CSI' Replaces Jorja Fox with 'L Word' Actress

Ever since Jorja Fox hung up her CSI glove, producers have been looking for a replacement that will fill in the void of the forensic drama. With the casting search underway, many rumors have surged regarding actresses who may possibly join the cast, including Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, who was recently junked for the opening.

Now, the search is over. CSI has tapped Lauren Lee Smith, actress known for her recurring role on The L Word, to join the cast as a series regular. According to a CBS spokesperson, the Canadian actress is expected to play the character Bryce Adams, a "flirtatious, witty and strong-willed non-conformist" that is enlisted to join the Las Vegas graveyard shift led by Grissom (William Petersen). Other members of the forensic crew include Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), Nicholas "Nick" Stokes (George Eads), David Hodges (Wallace Langham), Det. Capt. Wallace Shawn Discusses 'L Word' Gig

There aren't too many male actors on Showtime's hit drama The L Word, but this doesn't bother industry veteran Wallace Shawn, who has landed a multi-episode guest-starring arc on the series.

“I already had seen the show, so I wasn't looking around thinking, 'Where are the men?'” Shawn told TV Guide. “And of course for me, I'm more comfortable with the company of women than the company of men, so it was the world that I think every show or play or film should be — I'm the man, and everyone else is a woman. It's very agreeable.”
