'Lost' Kids Run To 'The Cleaner'

Looks like these kids have had waaaay too much Lost.

Not that it's a bad thing, but... anyway, two Lost child actors have taken on seemingly more, uhm... creepy, perhaps? That sort of role on A&E's The Cleaner.

'The Cleaner' Gets Another Season

Fans of A&E’s The Cleaner will be glad to know that the series has been picked up for another season. The show, which debuted in July and recently concluded earlier this month, will return to production soon to film 13 fresh episodes, which will serve as its second season airing in early 2009. The Cleaner stars Benjamin Bratt as William Banks, a recovering drug addict who makes a deal with God to turn his back on his drug dependencies following the birth of his daughter.

The Cleaner is loosely based on the life of Warren Boyd, an addiction counselor who has helped celebrities such as Mel Gibson, Courtney Love and Whitney Houston. The show is A&E’s first original drama in several years and has successfully garnered 4.2 million viewers per week. This figure also includes an average of 2.2 million viewers in the key demographic of 18-49-year-olds.

Isaiah Washington Guest Stars on 'The Cleaner' Tonight

It seems as though actor Isaiah Washington has decided to clean up his act, as he returns on television screens for a guest appearance on The Cleaner. Leaving the set of Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Preston Burke, the actor has been cast on tonight's episode of the A&E show. “The Eleventh Hour” will premiere at 10pm, with Washington crossing swords with Benjamin Bratt's character, William Banks.

According to the network, Isaiah Washington will be portraying a traditional and well-schooled interventionist that will cause a slew of worries for The Cleaner's title character. Both of them attempt to treat the same girl, and a dramatic series of conflicts ensues. It all begins with an unsuccessful attempt to minister to this heroin-addicted woman, leading William to fly in with his unorthodox methods. Washington's character dismisses him as no more than a thug, and the both of them end up opposing each other's ways.

Benjamin Bratt Reveals His Insights on 'The Cleaner'

Despite immediately falling in love with the script for A&E’s The Cleaner, Benjamin Bratt, who plays the central character William Banks in the series, was initially concerned about the believability of the show’s concept. The show, which was based on the life of co-executive producer Warren Boyd, depicts a man struggling to clean himself of his addictions while trying to be a good father to his newborn daughter.

“[Boyd]’s the kind of guy who just upon looking at him (it seems) like he’s been there, done that and seen it all,” Bratt said told the Boston Herald. “That was the essence I wanted to borrow from him. He has that gravitas to him because of his life experience both in jail and his experience as a junkie and the business of savings lives.”

'The Cleaner' Debuts on A&E Tonight

After playing Dr. Jeremy Stone on the science fiction miniseries The Andromeda Strain, Benjamin Bratt returns to the small screen to headline yet another A&E feature. This time, he'll be making his debut as an “extreme interventionist” on The Cleaner, which premieres tonight at 10/9c.

The Cleaner centers on William "The Cleaner" Banks, (Benjamin Bratt), a former drug addict who strikes a tentative deal with God after hitting rock-bottom. Though no longer an addict, Banks is still dealing with the effects of his prior life, while trying to succeed at a third reconciliation with his wife Melissa Banks (Amy Price-Francis) and spend more quality time with his two kids, Ben Banks (Brett Del Buono) and Lula Banks (Liliana Mumy), who haven't forgiven his absences during multiple stints in jail and rehab. Now, he finds redemption by helping drug addicts get clean, by any means necessary.
