'Chocolate News' Premieres Tonight on Comedy Central

Chappelle's Show is going to be difficult to top. Maybe impossible. Ever since Dave Chappelle left his own show, forgoing a great fountain of money and ever-increasing fame, Comedy Central has been left with a giant, gaping hole in its schedule. Comedy Central's original programming is still solid, as it is home to South Park, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report, but Chappelle's Show was the network's only program headed up by an African-American. It was also universally beloved, a titanic ratings earner, and an enormously profitable franchise for DVD sales. Chocolate News, debuting tonight at 10:30pm on Comedy Central, will forever be compared to Chappelle's Show, which is unfortunate. Chocolate News, like Chappelle, will take on issues of race and other cultural hot buttons under the wings of veteran comedian David Alan Grier.

It was comedy hour this morning as BuddyTV was a part of a conference call with David Alan Grier and Dave Foley of NBC’s new show Thank God You're Here, which premiers April 9th at 9pm after Deal or No Deal. Their jovial answers were most likely an indication of the enjoyable nature of the show, but we’ll have to tune in to find out. Though their answers may not have been all that informative, they were certainly a good laugh.

Improv Comes to NBC

NBC has ordered six episodes of an Improv comedy show called Thank God You're Here. The show will be coming from the producers of American Idol and will feature comedy veterans Dave Foley and David Alan Grier. Improv Comedy has disappeared on network TV since Whose Line is it Anyway? Foley and Grier are both talented comedians and it will be interesting to see what kind of show they come up with.
