'Superstars of Dance' Names its Winner Tonight

After four weeks of competition, Superstars of Dance finally reveals its champ in tonight's season finale. The show premiered on January 4, featuring a group, a duo, and two soloists from each of eight countries, including Argentina, Australia, China, India, Ireland, Russia, South Africa and the United States.

Which country will walk away a winner? Stay tuned tonight at 8pm on NBC.

'Superstars of Dance' Continues in New Timeslot Tonight

Billed as the Olympics of Dance, Superstars of Dance continues with a new episode tonight in its new timeslot at 8pm on NBC. The show, which features dance routines from eight different countries around the world, is hosted by Michael Flatley, and co-hosted by Susie Castillo, and is created by executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, who is the producer of another dance program, So You Think You Can Dance.

In last night's two-hour premiere, the eight countries competing came together and introduced their dance teams. Dance genres performed included the monks from Shaolin: Wheel of Life (China), Irish step dancers (Ireland), Tango dancers (Argentina), a pop/lock dancer (United States) and Bollywood dancers (India) just to name a few.

NBC rings in the New Year with a brand new dance extravaganza. Superstars of Dance begins on Sunday, January 4 with a two-hour premiere episode beginning at 9pm, the newest dance show to hit the airwaves.

Superstars of Dance, hosted by Michael Flatley (whose "legs flail about as if independent from his body", TM-Chandler Bing) and Susie Castillo, is NBC's answer to the television dance craze. This new series, which sprang from the minds of executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Simon fuller, two of the masterminds behind American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, brings together accomplished dancers from all over the world, each masters of their own style. Each country will showcase dance styles unique to their nations, in an Olympics-esque competition.

'Superstar of Dance' to Premiere January

As ratings juggernaut American Idol returns next month, its creator Simon Fuller and former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is coming up with a dance competition this time in the form of reality show Superstars of Dance set to premiere on Sunday, January 4 at 9pm on NBC. After its debut Superstars of Dance will take on its regular two-hour spot with an episode on Monday, January 5 at 8pm. This is currently seen as a short enough series, with the finale currently scheduled for a January 26 airing at 8pm.

Superstars of Dance – which previously came under the title of Superstar Dancers of the World – will not really follow the same format of Idol, as it pits skilled dancers of various genre from different countries against each other. Currently, these countries are Ireland, India, the US, Argentina, China, Russia, South Africa, and Australia. Each national team will have two soloists, one duo, and one large group.
