Stylista: Johanna Wins Junior Editor Position at Elle

Anne Slowey has finally named the winner of Stylista, the competitive reality series that saw fashionista wannabes as they compete for a junior position at a high profile magazine. The competition was down to three hopefuls, DyShaun, Johanna and Megan, who all proved they have talent and potential to succeed in the fashion industry. In the end, however, only one won the title of Stylista and the victor came in the form of Johanna.

For the first challenge on last night's episode, the contestants were informed that they will be interviewed with Roberta Meyers, Editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine. DyShaun was interviewed first, followed by Johanna and then Megan, who was the only one who responded with a “no” when asked if she had any questions for Roberta. Shortly after, Roberta discussed the differences between the three contestants with Joe Zee and Anne, and decided to send Megan home, leaving DyShaun and Johanna competing against each other for the final challenge.

Produced by Warner Horizon Television and Tyra Banks through her Bankable Productions, Stylista premiered on October 22, introducing eleven contestants who are competing for a junior position at a high profile magazine. Throughout the season, the contestants participated in both assistant and editorial challenges to prove they have what it takes to make it in the fashion industry. In the end, the winner will earn a paid editorial position at Elle magazine, a paid lease on an apartment in Manhattan, and a clothing allowance at H&M, all for one year, valued at $100,000.

Kate, she of the large breasts and unprofessional vocal outbursts, was finally given the boot this week on Stylista, after weeks of enduring verbal abuse from nearly every corner. She spent many hours on the show crying and licking her wounds, but then she would buck up and defend herself. Rarely has there ever been a reality show contestant so willing to speak her mind.

I got the chance to speak to Kate this week about her time on the show. I know that I spent a lot of time this season poking fun at her melodramatics and unprofessionalism in my recaps, but after speaking with her, I came to respect her a lot more. She takes full responsibility for everything she did while on the show, good and bad. She owns up to the mistakes she made.

Stylista: Episode 6 "Model Behavior" Recap

In tonight's episode of Stylista, the aspiring fashionistas must prepare a hotel room for supermodel Maggie Reiser for their assistant task. As is the custom for all A-list celebrity, Maggie has a contract rider that specifies all the elements that she insists on. For example, she needs a comfortable nook for her dogs, candles that are scented but not too strong, pink toys, and all of her food laid out on the table. Megan is seriously pissed off that she has to scrub sinks just because some skinny bitch requests it. I hear ya, sister. This is the first time I am in complete agreement with Megan.

All the stylistas are given an allowance and a short amount of time to gather everything they can on Maggie's rider. Kate manages to get everything on the list, but Dyshaun chooses to focus on quantity and not quality. Then, Maggie and Anne Slowey pull up in a limo to the hotel, golden retrievers in tow.

Danielle is the latest assistant to fall by the fashion wayside on the CW's Stylista.

I thought, at the beginning of the season, that Danielle would make it to the final three because she consistently made good decisions, knew the current fashion trends inside and out, and displayed a great sense of style. However, on last night's episode, her demise was all but set in stone when she played more of a secretarial role in the elimination challenge, rather than making editorial decisions for her team.

Danielle spoke to BuddyTV today, and shared with us her perspective on going into the Elle closet, what it was like to work with her teammates and what she would have done differently if she had the chance to do it again.

Tonight on Stylista, the fashion wannabes will be attending a high profile fashion party that Anne Slowey and Joe Zee will be hosting at a hot New York restaurant, Bungalow 8. They'll be helping Anne and Joe identify all the celebrity guests and why they are important. Afterwards, they'll be creating a party page for the magazine.

For the assistant task, the stylistas much purchase thank you gifts for Anne to give to Amy Sacco, the owner of Bungalow 8. Working in pairs, they'll have $250 and one hour to find the gift. Dyshaun go to a jewelry store and decide upon a vintage Chanel brooch. Johanna and Megan buy a cashmere travel blanket, and Danielle and Ashlie put together a travel survival kit with tons of little things like handi-wipes and such.

William is the latest aspiring fashionista to fall by the wayside on the CW's Stylista. (Devin was also eliminated at the same time, but she was unavailable for a phone interview.) William started out the competition looking like a crazed fashion victim, but quickly transformed himself into a hard-working assistant. Unfortunately, Anne Slowey decided that he was not the right fit at Elle because she couldn't see his personal mark on his team's layout in last night's episode.

William spoke to BuddyTV and gave us a unique insight about the other contestants on Stylista. According to him, what we see in the episodes is actually a good representation of what is going on with the contestants. I guess that means that those full-on screaming matches aren't being doctored up with editing. God, I love this show.

Tonight on Stylista, the contestants hit the Henri Bendel boutique to shop for an outfit for Anne Slowey to wear on her last-minute trip. For their editorial task, the group breaks up into teams to design and direct a photo shoot featuring an outfit designed by Tory Burch, who will help Anne and Joe Zee select the winners. Tory appears on the show as a guest judge and helps Anne and Joe decide which team made her outfit look the best on the page. And, as always, there will be huge, huge, huge fights between the contestants. Honestly, the fights are really why I love Stylista so!

During her short stint on Stylista, Cologne often looked like the lone sane person in a crowd full of crazies. She only lasted three weeks as an assistant at Elle magazine, despite being in the winning teams for the first two weeks in a row.

Cologne spoke to BuddyTV today and gave us the scoop on the interpersonal dynamics among the contestants on the show. She shared with us her observations on Kate and Megan, probably two of the most unique personalities in the house. She is also a budding entrepreneur, having just launched her own online clothing company over the summer.

So far, I am absolutely enthralled by all the drama on the CW's Stylista. From a purely anthropological perspective, it is fascinating to watch these highly motivated, artistic and fashion forward divas all interacting with each other. I really can't wait how the showdown between Megan and Ashlie will go. I can't wait to see all the various and cruel ways the contestants will torture Kate. I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm pretty sure it will be glorious!

On tonight's Stylista, the stylistas must throw a birthday party for Anne Slowey's niece where, I'm sure, high intensity drama will ensue.

Stylista is the CW's newest fashion related reality TV show, and Jason is the latest contestant to be eliminated from the show. Jason was sent packing last night after providing underwhelming photos for his team's Elle Living page, but he'll be better known as the guy who had a panic attack.

Jason sat down with BuddyTV today to shed light on his whole ordeal. Turns out that he was actually very ill prior to having the anxiety attack and there may have been a lot more going on that was edited out. He also gave us his honest opinion of Stylista's resident bitch, Megan, who might not be so bitchy after all.

Stylista serves up another delightfully catty hour of fashion fun. Tonight, the fashionista wannabes are sent to Manhattan's Chinatown to search for a hidden gem to feature in the Elle Living section. But the highlights of the episode are the huge fights between Megan and Ashlie. Oh yeah, and the awesome, awesome honest-to-goodness anxiety attack that sends one of the wannabes to the hospital. It's so awesome.

Tonight's Stylista begins with a huge confrontation between Chesty Larue, a.k.a. Kate. There's a big house meeting giving Megan the opportunity to further bitch Kate out. Only Cologne seems to be on Kate's side at this point.

They'll start at the bottom, performing menial tasks, but they'll also be given the chance to show off their burgeoning editorial talents, creating pages for the magazine.

We open tonight's premiere episode of Stylista with shots of New York City. The contestants get ready to meet their competition and their new boss, the frightening Anne Slowey. Some of the contestants interview about why they want to work at Elle, including Kate, who has the largest rack I've ever seen on a network that is not VH1 or MTV.

Who Has a Chance at Winning 'Stylista'?

The CW's newest reality series, Stylista, premieres tomorrow night after America's Next Top Model, and already, I am completely hooked on the show. The casting director for the show is either a brilliant genius or incredibly lucky because all 11 of the cast members are unique individuals who will be great to watch. Not all of them are likeable, necessarily, but they all make for fascinating reality television. Plus, the interactions between the cast members and the group dynamics as a whole are quite entertaining too. This group of 11 is like a little microcosm of the high school cafeteria: there are the cool bullies who smoke outside, the whiny insecure girls who developed too soon, the naifs who will have to learn a thing or two to stay in the competition. Oh, it's all going to be great fun.

The show hasn't started yet, but based on what I've seen of the show and the information about the cast that is available online, I am predicting a top three. Read on to see who's on my Stylista short list.

'Stylista' Review: Wickedly Stylish Fun

The brilliant minds that brought us Project Runway have teamed up with the insanity that resides inside Tyra Banks' brain to bring us the newest CW reality sensation: Stylista, which premieres on the CW on Wednesday. Billed as The Devil Wears Prada turned into a reality show, Stylista promises tons of catty, bitchy, high-fashion good times. Just in the nick of time too. Project Runway just ended, and America's Next Top Model grows nuttier than a squirrel turd, so we really do need another show featuring young people with delusions of grandeur, back-stabbing each other while assembling the perfect winter ensemble for the busy career woman.

I have to applaud the casting director of Stylista because this cast of 11 aspiring fashion enthusiasts contains the perfect mix of crazy, delusional, naïve and over-confident characters that immediately make you want to watch every episode of the show.

CW Announces Earlier Premiere for 'Stylista'

For undisclosed reasons, the CW has moved up the premiere of Stylista, its new reality series that is often described as the television incarnate of The Devil Wears Prada, as 11 aspiring fashion enthusiasts compete for a prestigious and highly coveted editorial job at Elle Magazine. The eleven all work as assistants to Anne Slowey, the demanding but well-respected Fashion News Director of Elle Magazine who, to continue the Devil Wears Prada analogy, will fill the shoes of Meryl Streep.

Stylista will premiere on Wednesday, October 22 at 9pm, a week earlier than it's previously scheduled date of October 29. It will be paired with Cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model which premieres September 3 and which recently hogged the headlines for fielding in a transgender contestant for the first time. Going back, the backward shift of the Stylista debut will allow the show to fit all eight of its episodes in before the holiday season.

You have to dig in to find the devil in the details with The CW's new reality series, Stylista. Pegged as “The Devil Wears Prada reinvented,” the competition will definitely not endure without its fair share of demons.
