Aside from being the lead singer of the band Á Móti Sól, Magni Ásgeirsson was known as a contestant on the competitive reality series Rock Star: Supernova. As a finalist, he made it to the finale and finished 4th place, behind Dilana Robichaux, Toby Rand and winner Lukas Rossi, who became the frontman of Supernova. At present, the 28-year-old singer continues to land various gigs with his Icelandic pop band.

Most recently, the 34-year old native of Johannesburg, South Africa, has signed a long-term co-publishing agreement with Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company Inc.

Cherry Lane, a New York-based private publishing company, spans various renowned artists like Quincy Jones, the Black Eyed Peas, and John Legend.

Dilana Robichaux was best known as a contestant on the reality contest Rock Star: Supernova, a show, which featured the pop punk band Supernova as they search for a lead singer from a bunch of contestants. Throughout the show, she received many praises and became controversial when she made some comments during a staged press conference where she became blunt with her opinions about her fellow contestants. Nevertheless, she apologized repeatedly for the remarks she had made. And although she was able to gain back the confidence of her fans by the end of the season, she lost to Lukas Rossi and ended up as a runner-up of the competition.

Lukas Rossi escalated to fame as the winner of the reality television contest Rock Star: Supernova. He was chosen over Dilana Robichaux and accordingly became the front man of the pop punk band Supernova. Despite being in the bottom three on week 10, he was able to rise and redeem himself with his performance on week 11, the finale, where he sang Fix You by Cold Play. As the second Canadian to be crowned winner of the Rock Star series, Rossi received the highest number of votes from the viewers. In the end, Rossi together with the rest of Supernova, performed “Be Yourself” and “It’s All Live” to close the season.

Rock Star's Supernova ordered to change their name

Following a preliminary injuction in a lawsuit brought by a "real" band named "Supernova", the reality show supergroup must now change it's name. According to the group's label Epic Records, the group's new name will be Rock Star Supernova, which also was the official name of the series' second season. A spokesperson for the label says, "It's going to be Rock Star Supernova. That's their actual name." Wow, how's that for creative.

On Sept. 13, Toronto???s Lukas Rossi was crowned the winner of Rock Star: Supernova, and new lead singer of the rock and roll supergroup comprised of Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Gilby Clarke (Guns ???N??? Roses) and Jason Newsted (Metallica). Rossi is the second Canadian in as many seasons of Rock Star to win the international competition. Last year, JD Fortune won and became the new lead singer of INXS.

BuddyTV was recently granted the privilege of sitting down with rocker Suzie McNeil. The former constestant on Rock Star: INXS was both delightful and forthcoming. Here is what transpired: So what were you doing before INXS? I was living in Toronto and always wanted to do music. I went to college for a while and didn't really enjoy it, so took off for the west coast in Canada and started a few bands there. I did like Blues there, like a Blues band, then I came back to Toronto and basically to cut a long story short - I just wanted to make a living singing. Like I always wanted to be famous and stuff but from a practical standpoint, I decided that if I can make a living singing I'd be happy. So then in Toronto I had a community happening. I was like on a Abba cover band for a long time and got to play in front of over 50,000 people in that show, so it kinda' trained me for the road and I was making a good living doing it and I also did some other shows up here in Canada. So how'd you get involved with INXS?

Rock Star: Supernova, born of Mark Burnett's magical womb, is an entertaining little gem. It's American Idol for people who actually like good music. Undeniably, the best aspect of the program (and what makes it more than just a mere talent show) is that the winner is immediately inserted into a high-profile rock band. Last year it was 80's heavy INXS who needed a lead singer, and found one in J.D. Fortune. He has been a success. This year, the contestants are competing to front "super-group" Supernova, a band comprised of Tommy Lee (Motley Crue drummer), Jason Newsted (Metallica's bassist), and Gilby Clarke (Guns n' Roses rhythm guitarist). This unique "prize" for Rock Star: Supernova is what makes it significant. It gives the entire program extra weight and substance. Or, at least it should.

By Deanna Johnston of Rock Star: INXS Hey y'all!!! Saw my 2nd episode of Rock Star tonight. It's so different from last year, different kind of singers, since obviously SuperNova and INXS have nothing in common musically. Jessica probably would have loved being on this season!!!! I may have gone further in this season too, more rock!! But honestly though, I have no idea why some of the 'rockers' are even on the show. I have a friend who auditioned, he should be on that stage, but oh well!!! I LOVE Dilana. She sounds like a cross between Stevie Nicks and Kim Carnes. Very cool tone in her voice, and definitely has her own unique vibe. I really like Josh's voice as well, but probably not suitable for SuperNova. Something about Phil is cool, love his overall vibe. Storm is HOT! But ya know what people, I miss the Steve Perry's, the Paul Rodger's, the Lou Graham's. These are the REAL singers, where are the new ones????? Later, D

Rock Star Supernova: Super Groups are Hard to Make

On the surface, the CBS show Rock Star: Supernova may look like another American Idol knockoff, a hopeless retread banished by CBS into the wasteland of Summer programming. But, if you watched last season's Rock Star: INXS in which the band INXS successfully found a capable lead singer to replace former front man Michael Hutchence, you know that Rock Star is far more important that your typical reality TV talent show.
