True Blood: Casting Werewolf Alcide and Psycho Ex-Girlfriend

We've been hearing about a bunch of new characters coming on board for the third season of True Blood but so far, only Tony winner Denis O'Hare has been cast to play Russell Edgington, the King of Mississippi. Now Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that casting is underway for Werewolf Alcide, who debuted in the third Sookie novel Club Dead and will be prominently appearing on the new season of the HBO series, and his psycho ex-girlfriend Debbie Pelt.

While the specifics about Werewolf Alcide have not been disclosed, the casting people behind True Blood have made it known that Debbie Pelt would be played by a 20 to 30 something knockout and is described as "sporty and spiteful, with black hair."

'Moonlight' Star Makes TV Comeback with 'Three Rivers'

Moonlight fans can finally sink their teeth into Alex O'Loughlin's new series. The Australian actor, who captured the hearts of millions as private investigator and vampire Mick St. John, will soon return to the small screen to star in a new project from CBS Paramount.

After CBS pulled the plug on Moonlight, the network left its doors open for O'Loughlin, who in turn signed a one-year development deal. At the time, the network was reportedly planning to give him a new show to be developed by Mark Gordon, who is credited for his work on Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.

It's been nine long months since inconsolable Moonlight fans last saw Alex O'Loughlin playing sexy vampire turned private investigator Mick St. John. Soon, however, he'll be returning to our small screens when he joins the cast of Criminal Minds.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, the Moonlight star will be returning to CBS to play a serial killer in at least one episode of Criminal Minds, which is tentatively scheduled to air in April. This marks O'Loughlin's first TV comeback following the cancellation of his cult-favorite paranormal series.

USA Announces Resume Dates for 'Psych' and 'Monk' Plus Sci Fi Adds Reruns of 'Moonlight'

Sci Fi and USA networks welcome the New Year with new episodes of their signature series. According to The Futon Critic, which has exclusively confirmed the networks' plans, Monk and Psych will resume their current seasons on Friday, January 9 at 9/8c and 10/9c, respectively.

Psych, which stars James Roday a young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara, California Police Department whose "heightened observational skills" him to convince people that he is psychic, has recently been renewed by the USA network for a fourth season after a record-breaking summer. Monk, on the other hand, is presently on its seventh season and has just reached the 100th episode milestone before the show went into a summer season hiatus.

Jason Dohring and Shannyn Sossamon are about to return to the small screen. After playing Josef Kostan and Coraline Duvall on the vampire series Moonlight respectively, the former co-stars are now headed to HBO to work on separate projects.

Dohring, who first catapulted to stardom as rich kid Logan Echolls, Kristen Bell's on-screen love interest on the cult series Veronica Mars, has joined the cast of Washingtonienne, the cable's pilot from Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker. Loosely based on Jessica Cutler's book, the comedy follows the professional and personal lives of three young women working on the Hill.

Updates on the Release of 'Moonlight' Season 1 DVD

Back in June, when the fate of the CBS series Moonlight was yet undetermined, we reported that the first season DVD of said show will be released some time in September. Now that the month is coming to a close, fans have started to become anxious about the DVD release. While they want to get their hands on the DVD to calm the frustration caused by the non-renewal of the show that brought us Alex O'Loughlin as the sexy vamp detective Mick St. John, no definite reports have surfaced.

In August, though, we brought you good news with CBS announcing that while they have officially turned off Moonlight, they will be keeping the 32-year-old Australian actor to pursue other series projects with the network. In fact, CBS and O’Loughlin went ahead to sign a year-long contract for the actor to work on a project developed by Mark Gordon, who is also behind the hits Desperate Housewives, Army Wives, Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds.

Around three months after being canceled in May, life goes on for the star of Moonlight, the sci-fi series about hot vampires. The people over at CBS thought this wasn't good enough to renew the series for another season, but apparently, it's good enough reason to hold on to Mick St. John.

While some have already packed their bags and tidied up their camp sites following the campaign to bring Moonlight back to CBS, quite a number of fans are still clamoring for the return of the much-loved series which starred Alex O’Loughlin and Sophia Miles. The series, which only survived a season with a little under an average of 7.5 million viewers, was cut by CBS earlier this year because the network claimed that the ratings weren’t sufficient enough for a renewal. Moreover, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler admitted that unlike Jericho, the resurrected series with a passionate fanbase, Moonlight’s fans tend to support the actor behind it rather than the series itself.

"The response to Moonlight was actually more actor-centric, so I think it certainly measures our decision on the show," Tassler told reporters at the TCA last month.

It appears as though the relentless fan campaign to bring Moonlight back to life has finally reached its turning point. After news of a possible pick up by other networks such as The CW, the SciFi channel, and DirectTV, which have probably fostered false hope among fans of the vampire detective series, Mick St. John and the rest of the characters of Moonlight have now been buried to its final resting place.

Don’t shoot the messenger here, but Moonlight is over, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The sets of the paranormal romance series have now been dismantled in preparation for CBS’ upcoming drama The Mentalist, which stars Simon Baker as a detective who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation.

Still part of their incessant quest to bring Moonlight back to life, fans of the canceled CBS vampire detective series have decided to gather outside the Schenley Park visitor center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania tomorrow at 12pm to 4pm.

Moonlight, the series that follows private investigator, Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) as he struggles in the present day with his love for a mortal woman Beth Turner (Sophia Myles), has rapidly increased its fan base over the course of its first few episodes. By the 12th episode of the series, fans have fortified their support for the show by making use of the hiatus, brought about by the writers' strike, to creatively come up with a blood drive, which is an initiative to give the series a bloody welcome when it returns with four new episodes and to show their dedication to the freshman series, and importantly to request that CBS renew Moonlight for a second season.

Moonlight: Season 1 DVD for Release in September

While Moonlight's future is still in uncertain, pending the possible pick up of other networks, fans have something to look forward to this coming fall. According to show writer and executive producer Harry Werksman, who appeared at Moonlight Con during the Memorial Day weekend, the first season DVD will be released some time in September.

The Season 1 DVD is expected to include the entire 16 episodes of the first season of Moonlight. And while other extra features have not yet been decided, Alex O'Loughlin is certainly set to do commentaries on at least several installments.

Fans of Moonlight have tirelessly showed their support to the cult series. Despite their noble efforts to shed their own blood, CBS has decided to put a stake on the show and officially end its chances at a sophomore season. But this hasn't stopped fans from campaigning, hoping to prove that vampires can survive virtually anything, including the capricious whims of network executives. Now, fans are eyeing the Sci Fi Channel as a possible solution to bring back their beloved series to life.

According to Harry Werksman, one of Moonlight's executive producers, the Sci-Fi channel is indeed interested in picking Moonlight up. If the series does get picked up by Sci Fi, Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin), will reportedly be transplanted to New York City, where Sci Fi is based. Right at the beginning of the story, an alien ship crash lands onto Planet Earth, and onboard is Jim Caviezel, from The Passion of the Christ, and this terrifying Morwin, that looks like a dragon/bull. He's brought that with him, from a galaxy far, far away. It's an epic adventure, where we try to slay the beast. We saw it happen with Jericho. After being canceled by CBS in the Spring of 2007, fans of Jericho launched a successful campaign to bring the series back. Unfortunately, it ended up being a relatively poor decision for CBS, as Jericho's return brought less-than-mediocre ratings and now the series is gone for good. However, Jericho's resurrection last year has given hope to all fans of canceled series. The latest of these is Moonlight. The Moonlight situation is pretty similar to what Jericho's was last year. Both are genre series, both on CBS and both were canceled after a full first season. Moonlight has some rabid fans, and they've been working all angles since CBS announced that the show would not be returning to next season. Alex O'Loughlin will live to act another day. The Australian actor is presently dealing with the unfortunate news that his vampire detective series Moonlight has been canceled by CBS. Nevertheless, his agent Nathan Morris of June Cann Management remains confident that O'Loughlin won't be out of work for long.

CBS didn't give Moonlight or its fans a long time to prepare for this, the series finale. Earlier this week, when it became official that the show would not be renewed for a second season, tonight's episode, “Sonata,” became both a season and series finale.

Josef (Jason Dohring) is donating a lot of money to Hearst College, which I pray is a brilliant homage to Veronica Mars. In attendance is Dominic, some big shot basketball star. Beth (Sophia Myles) and Mick are accompanying Josef to the swanky party. Josef introduces them to Simone, his human lady lawyer friend and part-time beverage. As Mick (Alex O'Loughlin) and Beth enjoy a nice date, screams ruin the night as they find Dominic dead, with Simone standing over the body.

As expected, Moonlight fans have started to resort to desperate measures in attempt to bring back the vampire detective series that was recently axed by CBS. While pleas and petitions are underway, another rumored possibility of salvation has just come to light.

According to deadlinehollywooddaily.com, Warner Bros. is shopping the show around to other networks, one of which is The CW. Media Rights Capital, the firm contracted by The CW to program its Sunday-night block, is among those being eyed. The rumored possibility of an afterlife surfaced when Warner Bros. decided to hold off the striking down of Moonlight's sets until Friday.

It's CBS, so it's boring. Sure, there are a fair share of CBS shows that I will watch religiously, but for a non-procedural drama fan, the pickings are slim. CBS is a successful network because they know its audience and cater directly towards them. At this morning's upfront presentation, CBS unveiled its fall schedule, and the surprises were minimal. The network introduced five new series, which we will discuss below, and they all seem to fit in well with the network as a whole. CBS Cancels 'Moonlight'

Moonlight is dust. According to multiple sources, CBS has decided not to renew the freshman vampire drama for a second season, undoubtedly leaving many fans left wondering where it all went wrong.

Just one week ago, Moonlight was looking good to come back. Though the ratings weren't stellar, it routinely won it's time slot (though to be fair, 9pm on Fridays isn't exactly competitive). After the cancellation of Jericho, it seemed CBS would probably stick with at least one of its big cult fan favorites. This was not to be.

Thanks to CBS being high on a slew of new dramas in development, the fate of Moonlight remains uncertain. You'd think the CBS upfront presentation would be pretty dull whit Wednesday. With the sheer volume of successful crime procedurals (the CSI franchise, NCIS, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Ghost Whisperer, etc) it's hard to believe there's any room on the schedule for new shows. Nonetheless, Variety reports that CBS has ordered six new shows for its 2008-2009 season, including four hour-long dramas. And while How I Met Your Mother is safe (thanks, one assumes, to the Britney bump), the amount of dramas is very, very bad news for Moonlight.

Moonlight: Episode 15 "What's Left Behind" Recap

Previously on Moonlight: Beth quit her job at BuzzWire and asked Josef to kill a paparazzo who knew Mick's secret. New ADA Ben Talbot, however, had already received the incriminating photos.

Beth (Sophia Myles) starts the day meeting with Ben, who wants her help on an abducted kid because she wrote two stories on similar incidents in the past year. Meanwhile, Josef (Jason Dohring) and Mick get back to Josef's pad after a busy day of couch shopping. That is a scene I am furious we didn't get to see. A news report on the abduction comes on the TV and Mick (Alex O'Loughlin) is quite interested in it. He runs into Beth at the scene and says he grew up in that neighborhood.
