Judging from everyone's reactions, fans and critics alike, Amanda Woodward's (Heather Locklear) much-hyped return to Melrose Place didn't disappoint. Like some sentimental fan of the original would say, it's like she never left.

Sure, the two may be axed for good on Melrose Place, but it doesn't mean they can't go down without a bang. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield reveals to E! Online that a "crazy naked" scene will be their goodbye to the CW reboot.

"It involves us both wearing half-loin cloths that they had to tape to us. There are very few clothes involved in the near future. She's up for anything," Colin says about Ashlee.

On tonight's episode of Melrose Place, the police search Auggie's (Colin Egglesfield) apartment after his blood was found on Sydney's (Laura Leighton) murder weapon. They also want the other residents to demand where he went.

Yet the more significant part of the episode is probably the spotlight on the relationship of Riley (Jessica Lucas) and Jonah (Michael Rady). The thing is, a work incident has Jonah pretending he's engaged to Ella (Katie Cassidy), but she really gets into the role-playing, and this kind of causes him to reflect on stuff about his engagement with Jonah. Add to this the pressure for Riley to decide whether or not to help the police, because she actually knows where Auggie is staying.

'Cougar Town' Boytoy in Talks to Head to 'Melrose Place'

Do you feel that the actor who plays Courtney Cox's boytoy on the rookie ABC comedy Cougar Town is not given enough screen time? Well worry no more, Nick Zano, the 31-year-old who plays the boytoy to Cox's cougar, is in negotiation with Melrose Place people to replace, sort of, the axed Colin Egglesfield, whose character Auggie was given the walking papers recently because his character was "too dark" for Melrose.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Zano, who was also on One Tree Hill and 7th Heaven, will play a doctor who works with Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen) and Michael (Thomas Calabro) at Wilshire Memorial. Melrose Place showrunner Todd Slavkin said in a previous interview that the character is "irreverent and funny" as opposed to dark and brooding Auggie. The as yet unnamed new cast member will move into the building and will interact with Lauren.

'The Vampire Diaries' Gets Wednesday Night Repeats

In yet another strong show of faith in The Vampire Diaries, the CW officially changed its schedule so that repeats of the freshman drama will now air Wednesdays at 9pm following America's Next Top Model. After the quick cancellation of The Beautiful Life, that spot featured repeats of Melrose Place.

The CW is clearly putting all of its chips on The Vampire Diaries. The network already picked it up for a full season, and now the addition of repeats should increase that audience even more.

Do you like Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and Violet (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) on Melrose Place? Wait, do you watch Melrose Place? Judging from the ratings, not a lot of people do, so in an effort to "shake things up" network executives decided to axe Egglesfield and Simpson-Wentz from the CW remake.

Of course, the news comes as a shock to the fans, no matter how few they might be, but no one was apparently more shocked than Egglesfield himself, who'll make his final appearance on Melrose Place in January and will shoot his final episode next week.

The traditional Nielsen ratings might say that shows like NCIS and Grey's Anatomy are on top, but when it comes to younger audiences and non-traditional ways of watching TV, the CW is way out in front.

The official premiere week for television was the week of Monday, September 21, and while the CW's shows had mostly premiered by then, they were still lumped together at the top of the DVR ratings report when the final +7 numbers came in. If you're new to ratings analysis, DVR +7 refers to the numbers of times a show was watched on DVR within seven days after it originally aired.

And the first casualty of the fall season is the CW's The Beautiful Life.

It was announced over the weekend, but in case you haven't heard yet, the network has cancelled the Ashton Kutcher-produced drama after only two episodes in the air. Audiences weren't flocking to the series, with only 1.1 million people tuning in to the second episode. Never mind that series star Mischa Barton gave the show a surprise publicity boost through her medical problems early this year.

The CW has a lot to be proud of when it comes to The Vampire Diaries, as the show's ratings aren't dying in the face of stiff competition. The show premiered with record numbers for the CW with 4.84 million viewers.

The second episode saw a slight dip once it was in competition with new episodes of NBC comedies, Survivor and Bones, but the second episode still earned 3.78 million viewers. The real test was the third episode. Would the numbers continue to drop, especially since the series premiere of Flash Forward on ABC was the time slot's top show with more than 12 million viewers?

It certainly seems that way, as Melrose Place welcomes an old resident Heather Locklear and on a very promising role, too, as she becomes the boss of her reincarnate Ella Simms' (Katie Cassidy) boss at the PR firm. For One Tree Hill, the network is enjoying the new direction of season 7 and has officially picked it up for the full season.

Last night's Melrose Place indeed opened up with more "obvious" sexuality. Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) finally showed some skin thanks to a shower scene. Thanks to flashbacks, meanwhile, we also saw his relationship with Sydney (Laura Leighton) back in their AA days.

On tonight's episode of Melrose Place, everyone's still understandably freaked out with the sight of Sydney (Laura Leighton), dead and face down, floating in the pool in the pilot last week. Nevertheless, the Melrose Place tenants try to retain a semblance of normalcy in their lives. Ella (Katie Cassidy) discovers from her new boss that her job might be in danger because of a merger - unless she brings in a huge client. Ella being Ella, she forces David (Shaun Sipos) to take her to a Brentwood party to land a big actor client, Jasper.

Meanwhile, Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen) agrees to go on another date to get more tuition money. Unfortunately, she ends up going in the same part as David and Ella. There are also more flashbacks featuring Sydney, this time it's Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) who remembers his first meeting with her in AA. The happy couple Riley (Jessica Lucas) and Jonah (Michael Rady) view a surveillance video of Violet (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) acting weird, leading them to think that she's hiding something, which is true, but this is only episode two so they probably won't get to the bottom of it.

Melrose Place: Who Is Your Favorite Character So Far?

Aside from Sydney (Laura Leighton), who had around three minutes of screen time before being the center of a whodunit type of mystery on Melrose Place, practically all the residents of the CW hit are new characters. Predictably, some characters, such as Ella stands out immediately, while others, such as Auggie left me, huh (rough translation: hard to define).

Nevertheless, the new Melrose Place divided the critics, especially the more nostalgic ones, because it definitely is a new Melrose Place, in some ways similar to the original, but in a lot more ways vastly different. The bottom line remains: it still remains to be seen whether the CW hit, and CW is indeed stamped all over it, will prove to be nearly as addictive as its progenitor. But let's go to the characters:

I'm still slight on the fence on the modern CW remake of Melrose Place. As someone who grew up in the 90s, though, I can safely say that the new Melrose Place is good in respect - because it is no longer preachy and pretends that it's something more serious than intrigues and gossip - in the grand tradition of the CW.

As a matter of fact, there were scenes that are very much reminiscent of Gossip Girl and 90210 - the opening party scene, for one - so at least we can enjoy Melrose Place the way we should: a guilty pleasure, and nothing serious and worth much brain power. Maybe except the upfront introduction of a whodunit scenario in reference to Sydney going back to Melrose Place only to end up face down in a pool, floating and lifeless.

It should be clear from the start that I have never seen the original Melrose Place, so my obsession with the new CW reboot premiering tonight at 9pm has nothing to do with sentimentality. I suppose fans of the original will enjoy seeing Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro reprise their roles as Sydney and Michael, but the real delight of the new Melrose Place is how devilishly scandalous the new characters are.

There's sex, murder, booze, infidelity, prostitution and bisexuality, and that's just the pilot. While the reworking of 90210 turned it into a saccharine family-friendly drama, Melrose Place is all scandal, all sex appeal, and all crazy.

In a nutshell, the return of Melrose Place is some of the old and a dash of the new.

Sure, there's the customary bunch of twenty-something's who all dwell in an "elegant Spanish-style" apartment building in the Melrose neighborhood in Los Angeles. Back from the iconic 90s series are Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) and Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro). Sydney is Melrose Place's new landlady, and she described her character as "doomed to be the center of controversy" - even at 40. And right off the bat, we know that she started an affair with Mancini's son, David Breck (Shaun Sipos). Fortunately, both father and son know the extent of Sydney's blackmailing capacity, but their situation are in no way cozy.

If some former residents of 90s hit Melrose Place aren't too keen in going back to that place, it's another story for Laura Leighton, who used to play clever and playful Sydney Andrews. If you know your 90s soap opera, you'd know that at the end of the series, she married Craig Field (David Charvet), only to get hit by a car and die at the wedding reception. Apparently, not only did she live, she also has a child - Violet, played by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

"There was no hesitation," Leighton tells OK! in reference to her return to Melrose Place as landlady. "It was a no-brainer. I knew this would be something really fun to do. It wasn't just a pitch from the producers -- it was a [fully written] script and they said, 'Please, read it!' I did, and I loved it. With barely a month go before the September 8 premiere of Melrose Place, the CW has released a couple of videos featuring cast members of the reboot taking fans behind the scenes on the filming of the pilot.

Colin Egglesfield, who'll play chef/surfer guy Auggie Kirkpatrick, takes viewers into how he's been practicing for his role as sous chef, including massacring some lobsters while it's still alive and moving (don't ask) and eating better than sex cupcakes all in preparation for his character. To close off his show, Egglesfield shows off a trick he learned from somewhere that involved carving out an orange to produce a little orange peel man that doubles as something not advisable for kids watching.

As we get closer to the September 8 premiere of the new Melrose Place, things in TV's most infamous apartment complex are heating up. Today a CW insider LilMissX snatched a new cast photo from a recent shoot and posted it on her Twitter page.

The men are all in nice suits, but if the original Melrose Place taught us anything, it's the women who really make this show work, and with dresses and skirts this short, tempers are sure to flare.

CW Announces Fall Premiere Dates, 'Gossip Girl' and 'One Tree Hill' Flip-Flop

It's time to mark your calendars, because the CW has announced the premiere dates for its fall shows. As they did last season, the CW is bringing out most of its shows earlier than the other networks to try and earn some loyal viewers before they get a chance to see everything else.

The big news is that the CW has decided to switch its Monday shows, so now One Tree Hill will air at 8pm and Gossip Girl is being pushed back to 9pm. The news is great for Gossip Girl, as now it's not up against House and Heroes., but instead against Lie to Me and the new drama Trauma.
