'Friday Night Lights' Gets Feuding East Dillon Stars

Make that two new faces when four familiar ones bid farewell to Dillon.

Friday Night Lights have cast Matt Lauria and Michael B. Jordan to play two new characters when the show returns to DirecTV in October, and to NBC in the summer.

And yes, as an aside, it's pretty funny that both actors' names are similar to two other celebrities. Yep, Michael Jordan and... Matt Lauer. He counts, right?

San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Saturday Schedule

The Saturday and Sunday Comic-Con schedules were released over the weekend. I thought things would get really good on Saturday, but the list is less than impressive. I suppose with four full days of Comic-Con, you can spread out the really big panels. Once again, below is a list of our picks for the day. Check it out and if you see anything missing, check the full list here.

One thing I'm curious about is the Chuck panel. Why is it at 10am? Doesn't Chuck deserve one of the better time slots? Wouldn't NBC push for a better panel time? Chuck already had some struggles last season, but this season promises to kick-ass and the new kung fu twist is perfect for the Comic-Con fans. I stand perplexed. Either way, it looks like I'll be spending my morning with a donut, cup of coffee and my favorite show Chuck.

One Tree Hill: Brian Austin Green Ain't Doing It; Robert Buckley Will

Brian Austin Green did get some cold feet. A week ago, it's as if he had that role snagged--negotiations for his inclusion on the upcoming season of One Tree Hill was all but done, apparently, and provided everything goes well, he'll take the role of Nathan's sports agent, Clayton. The operative here is "provided everything goes well". It didn't.

Now, it's official--Green isn't joining the show. But OTH producers have found a replacement pretty quickly: Lipstick Jungle's Robert Buckley.

Lipstick Jungle: Brooke Shields Takes Action after Incident with Mother

Actress Brooke Shields decided to transfer her elderly mother to a different nursing home after an upsetting incident involving a tabloid reporter. Last Thursday, a journalist took out the actress' 75-year-old mom, Teri, from a senior living center in Old Tappan, New Jersey. Later that day, she was found unharmed in a nearby restaurant talking to the two strangers.

Brooke Shields accused the National Enquirer reporter and photographer for misleading her mother, who suffers from dementia. They signed the elderly lady out of the living facility and falsely claimed to be Teri's friend.

Preview of 'Lipstick Jungle' Series Finale "Chapter Twenty: La Vie En Pose"

On the last episode of Lipstick Jungle, which aired the day after New Year's Day, Nico (Kim Raver) was discussing the risk of freezing her eggs unfertilized instead of picking a donor, in her prolonged and complicated quest for parenthood. Meanwhile, Victory (Lindsay Price) helped Wendy (Brooke Shields) organize her living room so that she can work from home and be more organized. Also, Wendy found out that Shane was still considering going on tour with singer Natasha Bedingfield, putting a strain on their marriage. The biggest news of all, however, was that Victory proposed to Joe, who said yes.

On tonight's episode of Lipstick Jungle, Wendy makes a daring bid on a very highly sought-after film, but can't bring herself to be that which apparently matters more, being a single parent, as Maddie goes off the rails in Shane's absence. Nico, meanwhile, asks Dahlia to help boost her professional status, with a guest appearance on The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb.

'Lipstick Jungle' Continues its Downward Spiral

There are conflicting reports whether NBC's Lipstick Jungle is really gone for good come January or not. Previously, it was reported that along with freshman My Own Worst Enemy, it is facing cancellation after it finished filming the 13 episodes of its half-season order. Now on its sophomore season, its maiden run which began February of this year reeled in 6.2 million viewers on the average, with its second season suffering a 27 percent drop ratings wise.

Subsequent reports, meanwhile, suggest a glimmer of hope for Lipstick Jungle, as lead Brooke Shields insisted that it's not canceled contrary to early reports. "They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it's not true," Shields said as quoted by US Weekly. "They're not breaking down the sets. We're still working. We still have more to do, so it's erroneously presented that we've been canceled, thank God. Our bosses are saying, 'You're not canceled, don't worry. We're just trying to figure out how to make this make sense.'"

A Glimmer of Hope for 'Lipstick Jingle'

Lipstick Jungle isn't exactly dead yet. Contrary to reports that NBC has pulled the plug on the hour-long series based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Candace Bushnell, lead star Brooke Shields insists that's not necessarily the case.

The show premiered on February 7 as a midseason replacement taking over ER's spot at 10/9c and was renewed for a second season shortly after the network announced it's Fall 2008 lineup. The sophomore season kicked off on September 24 and one month later, NBC announced that the series would move to Fridays effective October 31. Earlier this month, to the horror of many fans, rumors surfaced that NBC would cancel the show due to poor ratings, along with freshman drama My Own Worst Enemy. That appears to still be the case for the Christian Slater drama but for Lipstick Jungle, there seems to be sparkle of hope.

'Lipstick Jungle' Continues Its Run, But Not for a Third Season

Three of “New York's most powerful women” have simply fallen prey to the hands of network executives. It was recently announced that Lipstick Jungle was canceled by NBC, leaving fans to wonder what's going to happen tonight. After attracting a modest amount of viewers in its past seasons, the series had little chance to survive. However, it seems as though NBC isn't ready to let go of it that quickly. It has been confirmed that the remaining episodes of the season will indeed be aired. The only problem is that the series' storylines won't be wrapped up that cleanly, as it won't be returning for season 3.

Based on the book by Sex and the City's Candace Bushnell, Lipstick Jungle follows the exploits of three friends who have been dominant forces in their areas of expertise. The series debuted as a midseason replacement show last February, and was originally part of NBC's Thursday line-up. Lipstick Jungle starred Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price, but this wasn't enough to pull up ratings.

NBC Cancels 'My Own Worst Enemy' and 'Lipstick Jungle'

I guess that the networks will cancel their shows. After a so far quiet killing season among the network ranks, NBC dropped the guillotine this evening on two of its shows. Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy are no more. They have perished. Cancellations have been levied, and there will be no saving either show. Lipstick Jungle has filmed all 13 episodes of its initial half-season order, though it's unclear whether it, or My Own Worst Enemy (which is currently filming its ninth and final episode), will continue on the schedule for the time being or be immediately removed from the schedule. Nonetheless, it's a disappointing moment for NBC, which had high hopes for each show, only to see them fail miserably in the ratings.

'Lipstick Jungle' Stars Talk About Their Romantic Relationships

Set in the Big Apple, Lipstick Jungle follows three empowered women who take on the ups and downs of their lives as successful women in their own line of work. Starring Brooke Shields as Wendy Healy, Kim Raver as Nico Reilly and Lindsay Price as Victory Ford, the NBC series was renewed for a second season, which began in September. The series, which also stars Robert Buckley as Nico’s lover Kirby, will air episode 2.14 tonight, titled “Let the Games Begin.”

Tonight, fans will get to see Nico as she meets Kirby’s mother, played by Rosanna Arquette. Victory tries to concentrate on her work, but her latest project requires the help of Joe, who is avoiding her. Shane on the other hand, signs with a new manager, who sparks Wendy’s jealousy.

The ladies of Lipstick Jungle are in for another run of controversy and drama tonight, with the episode “Chapter Ten: Let It Be.” Things are getting difficult when people attempt to balance things out, or act the way they shouldn't. There are also new steps to take, as the characters become involved with the latest dilemmas surrounding them.

On “Let It Be” tonight, a struggle occurs between Nico (Kim Raver) and the new chief executive officer, Griffin Bell (James Lesure). They eventually butt heads as Nico tries to juggle that with issues between her and Kirby Atwood (Robert Buckley). Kirby wants to take their relationship to the public eye, but Nico isn't sure if she's ready yet.

'Las Vegas' Star Visits 'Lipstick Jungle'

Thirty-nine-year-old Vanessa Marcil adds the NBC series Lipstick Jungle to her long list of acting credits as she lands a recurring role on the show as Josie, an attractive up-and-coming music manager who promises Shane, played by Blackthorne, a gig scoring music for a cool indie feature.

Previously, Marcil, a California-native, has appeared on the long-running soap opera General Hospital, the iconic 90s teen series Beverly Hills 90210, and another NBC series Las Vegas.

When Lipstick Jungle returns for a sophomore season on September 24, the cast of the NBC dramedy will be joined by seven-time Emmy winner Mary Tyler Moore, who has signed on for a multi-episode guest role.

Having played leading roles in some of the most fondly remembered classic comedy series, Moore has made a tremendous impact on television over two decades. She is arguably best known for The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which ran from 1970 to 1977. She is also noted for her early role as Laura Petrie, wife of television comedy writer Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) on The Dick Van Dyke Show, which ran from 1961 to 1966.

The Sex and the City movie just hit theaters this weekend. This hit HBO show spawned a gaggle of lookalikes, two of which premiered this year: Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle.

Now, I have seen both of these shows, which are both about a group of high-powered Manhattan women who like to dish about jobs and men over girly cocktails, and I have to say that I much prefer Lipstick Jungle because its characters seem more human and relatable, and they don't dress as clownishly as Lucy Liu does in Cashmere. Lipstick Jungle is based on a novel by Candace Bushnell of Sex and the City fame, and stars Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price.

NBC Announces Fall Premieres: 'Kath and Kim' to Thursdays, New Reality Show

Today NBC announced a more detailed schedule for its Fall premieres, including a few changes. The Molly Shannon/Selma Blair sitcom Kath and Kim will move from Tuesdays to Thursdays, leaving room for The Biggest Loser to gain 30 extra minutes. Also, the new series America's Toughest Jobs from the producers of Ice Road Truckers, will premiere this Fall as opposed to next Summer, which NBC originally planned.

Andrew McCarthy Says 'Lipstick Jungle' Different Than 'Sex and the City'

NBC's upcoming series, Lipstick Jungle, is based on the eponymous novel written by Candace Bushnell, the same person behind the Sex and the City book, which HBO adapted and turned into a television hit. Actor Andrew McCarthy knows a comparison between the two series is inevitable, but believes the newer show has something different to offer viewers.

"I was a big fan of Sex and the City, but [Lipstick Jungle] is different,” McCarthy told the New York Daily News. “It's a different book, and the tone is different and there is a real regard for women that I find really attractive ...[but] the Sex and the City reference I think is inevitable because of Candace. She created them both, but it is a different beast."
