Ottawa's acting mayor, Doug Thompson, proposed to honor former Playboy playmate Shannon Tweed by declaring last Wednesday (July 15) as Shannon Tweed Day but his suggestion was turned down. Still, he was able to convey how much Tweed means to the city as he offered her a city gift basket and a heartfelt apology.

Tweed and her partner, Kiss rock star Gene Simmons, who stars on the reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels, visited Ottawa's Parliament Hill and Elgin Street on Tuesday while in the nation's capital for the legendary band's show at Ottawa's Bluesfest. Kiss attracted a record-breaking crowd of around 30,000 music fans Wednesday night.

According to the bassist/vocalist of the rock group, the upcoming CD is the first in more than a decade. "[It's the] first studio album in 11 years. And you can't force those things -- either it's in your blood and it's happening," Gene Simmons said.

Legendary KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons will once again let viewers take a peek into his "non-traditional" family as his hit reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels premiere with a special one-hour episode on Sunday 10pm on A&E. The 15-episode season kicks off with the sweet sixteen party of his daughter Sophie Tweed-Simmons. However, the celebration does not go as planned when a seemingly innocuous case of sibling rivalry spirals out of control. Blame it on 21-year-old Nick, who wanted to turn the low-key party into something party, and he's bent on pulling on dad's heartstrings and sense of theatrics to make it happen. All these, of course, to the dismay of Sophie, who's more often than not painfully shy.

After the Gene Simmons Family Jewels opener, the rest of the season features Gene's appearance on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader and his stint on a Japanese monster flick. Meanwhile, wife Shannon also has some appearances of her own, with a role in a roller derby exploitation film. Nick is also set to get his own apartment, while Sophie will fend off ill-intentioned teenage boys. All the while, the Simmons family is out to prove that they're indeed the most "non-traditional, traditional" family in America.

Direct from filming another episode of his reality series, Family Jewels, Gene Simmons few straight from Hollywood to Edmonton in Canada Friday via private jet to usher the Rexall Edmonton Indy, a round of the IndyCar Series held at a temporary circuit set up at the city.

Simmons arrived in time to attend a party hosted by the new owner of Edmonton Oilers. After which, of course, he resumed his official duties as the grand marshal of the Rexall Edmonton Indy, a job that he has held since 2005.

Gene Simmons, cartoon-ish tongue wagger, rock and roll legend, reality television veteran, has found yet another outlet for his unique form of bawdy charisma. Simmons has been hired as a judge for the upcoming CBS reality show Jingles. Jingles, from Survivor and The Apprentice executive producer Mark Burnett, will pit amateur song writers in a contest to write and perform the best jingles for various products. The winner will bring home a $100,000 grand prize and an advertising contract. Jingles will be hosted by former American Idol contestant (and possible squeeze of Idol winner David Cook) Kimberly Caldwell. Simmons will be joined on the judges' panel by advertising executives Jinda Kaplan Thaler and Julie Roehm.

Since the tape was first made public, several reports regarding a variety of issues – from the identity of the woman to what is being done on the legal front – have been circulating, with TMZ reporting that Simmons' legal team has ordered the website responsible for promoting the video to cease and desist because of copyright infringement. Why anyone would be cruel enough to unleash such a thing into the world is beyond me, but the truth of the matter is that it's out there. This isn't one of those self-promotional deals, to be fair. Only a rock star would make a sex tape with an energy drink model.

Last Friday, November 9, rock icon Gene Simmons was at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, where he performed live with his very own 13-piece big band, Royal Crown Revue. The 58-year-old star filmed the entire event for his reality series, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which airs on the cable network, A&E.

The Royal Crown Revue is the mystery band that Simmons has been busy working with. He and the band had been rehearsing in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles prior to the event, which took place at Beacher's Madhouse at the Hard Rock Casino's The Joint.

The 3-disc DVD set contains all 22 episodes of the show's second season and runs for slightly over 500 minutes. According to Amazon, the DVD set will contain Never-Before-Seen footages, as well as a bonus episode entitled “It Was a Very Good Year.”
