Exclusive Video Interview: Comic-Con Red Carpet with Jaime Paglia, Co-Creator of 'Eureka'

Season 3 of Eureka has been going strong and Carter and crew have dealt with a lot. With alien mythology creeping into the mix, BuddyTV wanted to get the lowdown on this season from the highest source: Co-Creator Jaime Paglia. Lucky for us, Paglia attended EW and SyFy's Comic-Con party last Saturday night and we were able to grab him for a couple minutes to hear all about the "romance and intrigue" that will be coming up at the end of the season.

Paglia gives a few spoiler-ish hints about possible returning characters, possible hookups and the new mythology of the series. But, he wasn't all business while at the party, he also told us of his favorite episode this season and why he likes it so much.

San Diego Comic-Con Releases Friday Schedule

First, let's get this out in the open: initial reports said that Supernatural and Smallville will have their panels on Sunday so don't freak out that the shows aren't included in the first two days.

Other than that, Friday's schedule looks amazing. Although my TV favorites aren't on the list, my movie favorites are. There a a couple more timing conflicts and I'm guessing that people are going to have to make some tough choices. When in doubt, stick with Whedon, Rodriguez, Cameron and Jackson.

Below are my picks for Friday's schedule. Once again, it was hard to narrow down the list. Check out the full schedule here.

'Eureka' Returns with "Welcome Back Carter"

When our favorite genius-populated town Eureka returns to a newly branded SyFy Channel after an almost 10-month break, a "unique problem" arises anew and Carter (Colin Ferguson) can't help but get involved in the whole thing, especially in the midst of his redaction.

On "Welcome Back Carter," Carter is still out of a job as sheriff, and gets a new one with Homeland Security, which means, yes, he might need to leave Eureka. As expected, no one is happy about the decision, including Carter himself. His deputy Jo (Erica Cerra), meanwhile, is trying to adjust to her new boss, Sheriff Andy, who is smart and dedicated but just happens to be a robot. Whether or not a humanoid can tackle the "unique" things that beset Eureka periodically, only time will tell.

'Eureka' Star and Showrunner Dish Out on Show's Return

Just as Sci-fi changes its name to Syfy, our favorite genius-filled small town Eureka is set to return to the network this Friday to continue its third season which was cut off in the fall. To kick off the 10-episode return, the episode "Welcome Back Carter" will reportedly feature a "unique problem" in the midst of Carter's redaction, where he can't help but get involved.

Talking about Eureka's much anticipated return, executive producer Jaime Paglia tells E! Online that a new antagonist in the sci-fi series may surprise fans, but it's not necessarily a person at all.

'Eureka' Midseason Finale Airs Tonight

Last week on Eureka, the small town adventures of Carter (Colin Ferguson) became more interesting when his daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson) became so busy with the mayoral race that she left her lab partner to accidentally conjure a new sun. Being the heroic figure that he is, Carter, along with Zane, rushed to get rid of the fireball in the sky. They donned their heavy duty protection gear and got ready to literally put out the sun.

Tonight on Eureka, fans will get to see the midseason finale titled “From Fear to Eternity,” where trouble starts brewing again, and it’s up to Carter to save the day.

Eureka: Sci-Fi Opens 'Warehouse 13'

A few days ago we saw another fresh episode of Eureka, brought to us by the Sci-Fi Network. We saw Zoe (Jordan Hinson) in a busy haze for the mayoral race, thus leaving her science lab partner to accidentally create another sun. We also saw Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Zane Donovan (Niall Matter) don themselves with some protective gear to literally put out the sun.

While we aren’t bringing you a sneak peek into next week’s episode of Sci-Fi’s Eureka, we do have some good news for Eureka fans out there who are just eager for a show of the same genre. In fact, the network recently announced that they are working on a new series which will serve as a companion show for the already successful Eureka.

Last week on Eureka, we saw a mysterious spandex-clad man as he pranced around town, attempting to be Eureka’s very own Superman and saving innocents. Little did he know, he was causing some trouble of his own. In fact, Carter’s (Colin Ferguson) job becomes a little bit more stressful because of this masked character tries to save the day and stir up a frenzy along the way.

Tonight on Eureka, the adventure in the small town continues as Zoe (Jordan Hinson) keeps focused on the mayoral race, leaving her science lab partner to accidentally create another sun! Carter and Zane think they can destroy the blazing orb, but they need to arm themselves with heavy duty protection gear to get close enough to the suns.

'Eureka' Gets "Phased and Confused" Tonight

Last month, the third season of Eureka began with Ed Quinn hinting that his character, Nathan Stark, may not be dead, as most had presumed him to be. While fans still have to wait and see if he will return this season, one thing’s for sure—Colin Ferguson’s Jack Carter will be facing some serious spandex tonight on Episode 3.06, titled “Phased and Confused.”

In fact, in this clip from Sci-Fi, we can see a masked man in blue spandex trying to save the day. However, Carter’s job becomes a little more complicated when this superhero decides to dabble in the daily affairs and save the day. Meanwhile, Thorne’s search for a secret buried underneath the town puts Zoe and her friends in mortal danger.

Last week, we reported that Ed Quinn, who plays Nathan Stark on the Sci Fi series Eureka, spoke about the upcoming storylines in the third season of the show. Now, he delves into the details regarding Stark’s relationship with Colin Ferguson’s Jack Carter.

"It's kind of a continuation of last year. In the first season, Stark was really brought in to carry the serial aspects of the show; the artifact, Kevin, the consortium," Quinn recalled. "As all of those story lines have been put on to the back burner as the show moved off into a different direction, Stark seemed to be dabbling with the good side, where you see other people dabbling with the dark side."

'Eureka' Actor Speaks About Season 3

The third season of Sci-Fi’s Eureka is currently underway and tonight, we will get to see the episode entitled “Show Me the Mummy,” which will feature a famed archeologist on the hunt for a mummy after he opens the tomb of an Egyptian queen at Global Dynamics.

Meanwhile, one of the stars of Eureka recently opened up about the third season, sharing with us some of his insights about his character and the relationships he has with other personalities on the show. Ed Quinn, who plays Nathan Stark on the series, reveals that the show picked off right where if left off, but will slightly differ from last season’s drama-filled episodes, saying, “the audience is going to have to get ready for a departure from a lot of the story lines from earlier.”

Eureka: Looking into the Paternal Relationship Between Jack and Zoe

Coming from different background, each actor brings unique experiences to the table when it comes to portraying the characters given to them. In some cases, portraying a particular character may be easy because the character may be relatable or hard because the character is complex. For Eureka’s Colin Ferguson, who plays normal guy and county sheriff Jack Carter in the awesome community of supergeeks, he says he can totally relate to his character.

"I grew up traveling a lot. I grew up in Hong Kong. I was always in new places, so I always felt a little like I was introducing myself," Ferguson revealed to the Boston Herald. "I still use my full name when I call my brothers on the phone. I never assume that anyone remembers anything."

'Eureka' Stars Dish on the New Season

Last week, we saw the debut of the third season of Eureka, which began with an explosive premiere. We saw the team on a hunt for an escaped drone, while a corporate fixer tries to evaluate the threat that is Martha. Recently, Eureka’s creator sat down with MonstersandCritics.com to talk about the new season, and the mystery behind the character Eva Thorne, played by Frances Fisher. Jaime Paglia says that Eva will be appearing in the next few episodes with an agenda in mind.

"You'll be seeing Eva for at least this first eight episodes," Paglia confirmed. "That's what we are looking at this being an art for her and then whether we continue to have her in parts in the back 13 is still up for debate."

Tonight at 9pm, the Sci-Fi Channel will be serving us up a fresh new season of Eureka, which stars Colin Ferguson as Jack Carter, the street-smart Sheriff of the town Eureka and father to Zoe, a young woman searching for attention while dealing with growing up with her single father. Two months after the announcement that the show will be renewed for a third season, the Sci-Fi channel brings us the third installment, which will delve deeper into the relationships between Jack, Zoe (Jordan Hinson), and most importantly Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), the woman Jack Carter has been trying to pursue.

Recently, Colin Ferguson spoke to TV Guide, giving us the inside scoop on what’s to come tonight in the new season of Eureka. He said, “A main character dies! How do you like that? Also, as last season ended, Eureka was wrecked [by an airborne metal-eating bacteria], so we bring in Frances Fisher [as a corporate hotshot] to fix the town.”

New Female Faces to Spice Up 'Dexter' and 'Eureka'

Ever Carradine and Valerie Cruz are both heading to cable. Carradine has signed on to play a recurring role on the SciFi Channel’s Eureka, while Cruz is all set for Showtime's dark thriller series Dexter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carradine is set to play Lexi, the free-spirited sister of Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) on Eureka, which returns with new episodes on July 29. She will be appearing in at least eight episodes of the upcoming season.

Eureka and Stargate Atlantis Included in Sci Fi Channel's Summer Lineup

The Sci Fi Channel has announced its summer schedule, which includes some reality shows and some science fiction hits. On the reality front, viewers can expect all-new episodes of Ghost Hunters, as well as the return of Scare Tactics, which is hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan (30 Rock). Additionally, fans can look forward to an action-packed fifth season of Stargate Atlantis and the record-breaking hit series Eureka, which returns for season 3.

When Stargate Atlantis returns on July 11, the team of intrepid explorers will continue to face the risks and uncertainties from within the vast Pegasus Galaxy. Joe Morton, well known in the SCI-FI universe as Eureka's resident reclusive genius, is reportedly in the final stages of negotiation to join a new star-studded motion picture. Should the Eureka actor eventually sign on, he will be in stellar company with some of finest contemporary character actors.

Ray Liotta of Goodfellas, Hannibal, Blow and most recently, Wild Hogs, headlines the film, La Linea, which is loosely based on the story of Arellano Felix's drug empire. Although Ed Quinn is most known for his work on SCI-FI's Eureka, things are also looking up for him outside of the comedy-drama. With two upcoming movies and a successful series to his name, Quinn says he is ready to keep the ball rolling on his career.

“Right now I'm in a great place where I'm able to sort of generate work out here. At this point in my career, [I plan to] just keep working,” Quinn told The Star Scoop, adding that although Eureka has certainly contributed to the growth of his career, his success is also defined by his willingness to work hard and take risks.

Michael Shanks Talks About His Upcoming Appearance on SCI-FI's 'Eureka'

On September 25, former Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks will appear in another SCI-FI hit series, Eureka. According to the 36-year-old actor, his character, Christopher Dactylos, is a sculptor and former employee of Global Dynamics who will wreak havoc in town with his unusual skill.

“[Christopher] is an artist who works in metals, who got fired from Global Dynamics because he and [the former boss] Nathan [Ed Quinn] didn't see eye to eye. He sculpted a statue of Pythagoras that mysteriously one day turns to gold from bronze. Then other things start turning to gold and they rust, and the town starts falling apart,” Shanks explained to TV Guide. “Finally people get infected in a way that deconstructs them as well, and they die. He's the chief suspect.”

Eureka: Episode 2.4, "Games People Play" Recap

Episode Overview: Carter is quite troubled when people in the town start mysteriously vanishing. Worse for him is that when they vanish, he's the only one who remembers them.

Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Deputy Jo Lupo are investigating a noise complaint at the start of tonight's Eureka. A scientist is, of course, doing some crazy experiment with a machine straight out of Willy Wonka's factory. Carter leans down to such some substance, being waned before he does, and when he gets up the spinning machine knocks him on his head. He returns to the smart house where his ex-wife is preparing to take their daughter back to Los Angeles. Zoe is coping with some psychiatric device called an ATS, a cool weird visor thing, she got from the shady Beverly.

He returns to work and, while talking to Jo from the washroom, a bright lights shines and she vanishes. He goes to the diner for answers, but no one there has ever heard of this Jo Lupo. He goes to Henry for help, and Henry makes with the theories. Key among them: Carter being repeatedly hit on the head by a metal object making him lose his mind. Not a bad guess, but probably wrong.

Eureka: Episode 2.3, "Unpredictable" Recap

Episode Overview: Some freaky weather causes all sorts climatological chaos. Also causing problems is the emergence of Sheriff Carter's ex-wife, who wants to take their daughter back to os Angeles.

Things are indeed unpredictable on Eureka as the episode's title suggests. Zoe (Jordan Hinson) is turning 16 and doesn't want to spend the day with her father, Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) but rather with her friend Pilar. When he drops his daughter off at school, he informs Pilar that Zoe can't go out, but then gives her a secret sign when his daughter turns her head. They're planning a surprise party. Also surprising is the weather forecast their smart house SARAH provides: in the middle of a heat wave, she predicts rain, lightening, hail and countless other anomalies.

Sure enough, when Carter gets to the sheriff's station, Deputy Jo Lupo (Erica Cerra) is on his case to call the government for her promotion, and when he does a sudden lightening storm cuts the electricity. That's a bad sign, but nowhere near as bad as what's standing in the doorway - Carter's ex-wife, Abby. Ominous music and thunder claps set the mood just about right.

Eureka: Episode 2.2, "Try, Try Again" Recap

Episode Overview: On Allison's first day as the new head of Global Dynamics, Fargo gets caught in a personal force field with dire consequences. Carter and Stark must work together to save Fargo, but can they?

After last week’s second season premiere of Eureka provided endless exposition and show mythology, it’s time for some relaxed, wacky antics, with a dash of impending doom.

We begin with Fargo (Neil Grayston) uber-nerd and assistant to the head of Global Dynamics, Eureka’s advanced scientific research facility. Episode Overview: Men start spontaneously combusting in Eureka, and it's somehow connected to the explosion of the Artifact in Section 5 at the end of last season. Also combustible is Henry, still trying to cope with the death of his beloved Kim.

Welcome to a town called Eureka, a government-founded hamlet filled with super geniuses whose futuristic experiments never go as planned. There's a whole lot of backstory to get to, so let's dive in.

Nathan Stark (Ed Quinn) is the head of Eureka's scientific research lab called Global Dynamics, and in what looks like a flashback to the end of last season, he's in the secret Section 5, looking at the even more mysterious Artifact, the only remnant from the universe that came before this one. In last season's finale, the Artifact went ballistic, killing Kim, a research assistant and lover of the town mechanic, Henry Deacon (Joe Morton). But Henry went back in time, saved her, altering the time-space continuum. Luckily, Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson), the mentally average hero of the show, discovered this four years later and went back to stop Henry.

The show centers on a small, government-founded town populated with super geniuses whose research and discoveries lead to some out-of-this-world experiences. Colin Ferguson plays the town's quite un-genius sheriff, a man who uses common sense when dealing with the unusual occurrences.

Earlier today, Sci Fi Channel held a conference with Ferguson and two of the show's producers, Charlie Craig and Jamie Paglia, to discuss upcoming storylines for season two, the new environmentally-friendly tone Eureka and the Sci Fi Channel are taking with their "Visions of Tomorrow" campaign, and their opinions on the futuristic inventions of the show.
