The Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and there were some truly out-of-the-box nominees. Sarah Silverman for Lead Actress in a Comedy for her Comedy Central show? Flight of the Conchords for Comedy Series and Jemaine Clement for Lead Actor? Simon Baker from The Mentalist? And Family Guy for Outstanding Comedy Series? Yeah, these aren't your daddy's Emmys.

'Drawn Together' Creators Feel Show's Future is Bleak

While Comedy Central has yet to decide whether the animated series Drawn Together will be renewed for another run, creators Dave Jeser and Matthew Silverstein have already resigned themselves to the possibility that the show's third and current season is its last.

"The show has been off the air for over a year now. The last time [it was on], it was seven episodes split over two different nights," Jeser told the Knoxville News Sentinel. "You know at this point what's going to happen.

FOX to Develop 'Drawn Together' Creators' 'Mothballs'

Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser, creators of Comedy Central's Drawn Together, has sealed a development deal with the FOX network for an animated series entitled Mothballs. The network has made a script commitment plus penalty with Silverstein and Jeser.

Mothballs revolves around the Westings, a dysfunctional family who own and operate a nursing, wherein they also reside. The series begins with the family's uptight patriarch and nursing home owner being forced to accommodate his vivacious but estranged father in his tightly run facility.

When comedy writers Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser first met at Dwight-Englewood School, they immediately knew they shared a special connection – creatively, that is.

Silverstein, who co-created Comedy Central's Drawn Together with Jeser, wanted to run for the school's student body president, but because he was already a senior at the time and forbidden to run, he decided to enter Jeser in the race without the latter's permission.

Drawn Together is an animated series about various parodies of cartoon characters from different genres of animation merged together to live under one roof. The characters depart from their animated realities and penetrate a new world where their personalities smash into one another. With a format similar to a reality show, the characters participate in challenges and endure their relationships with their housemates while under taped surveillance.
