Design Star: Final Two Pin Hopes on Viewer Votes

After a grueling season of taking on interior design projects with a twist, Design Star finally ends with a fierce two-way competition to become the next HGTV Design Star. The field has been narrowed down to artist and designer Jennifer Bertrand from Olathe, Kansas, and interiors, furniture, and lighting designer Matt Lock from Los Angeles, California.

Voting is only open until today, Wednesday, at 10am ET. Design Star fans can cast one vote per day at HGTV.com/DesignStar or up to five votes through text message to 44881 (HGTV1). All they have to do is text the letter A for Jennifer or B for Matt. The votes will determine the winner and will be announced during the highly anticipated finale on Sunday, August 3, at 9pm ET/PT. It is perhaps interesting to note that HGTV Design Star has become the network's highest-rated primetime show in its history since its June 8 debut attracting some 32 million viewers before the finale.

Design Star: Season 3 Premieres Tonight

HGTV's premiere interior design show is back for another run. Tonight fans will finally meet the finalists who will showcase their talent and prove that they have the star quality to host their own show on Design Star, the competitive reality series that promise to make someone a household name.

Season 1, which premiered on July 23, 2006, marked the network's first foray into the reality competition show genre. After eight episodes, it crowned David Bromstad as Design Star's first season champ. His victory earned him a show called Color Splash with David Bromstad. Design Star's second season premiered in July 29, 2007 and saw Kim Myles as the winner. Her triumph led to her own show called Myles of Style.

Design Star is a reality competition on HGTV that premiered on July 23, 2006. Hosted by Clive Pearse, the show features contestants vying for the opportunity to star in their own design show on the cable network. Each week, they are subjected to different interior design challenges, and whoever fails to impress the panel of judges at the end of the task is sent home. As with any reality series, elimination is carried out with a signature catchphrase, and considering the prize at stake for this competition, the contestants who do poorly are ushered out with the statement, “Your show has been cancelled.”

Design Star's panel of judges includes renowned interior designer Vern Yip, fashion designer Cynthia Rowley and In Style executive editor Martha McCully.
