'Date My Ex: Jo and Slade' Winner Shares His Thoughts on the Competition

In the season finale of Date My Ex: Jo and Slade last week, emotions were on a high when Jo faced the fact that she had to make an elimination that would change her life. Moreover, Slade's recent confession shocked everyone, and Jo was brought to tears after one of the finalists threatened to leave the house. After making the hard decision of either choosing one of the finalists or going back to her ex, Slade, Jo chose Lucas to be the man of her dreams. Bravo recently spoke with Lucas following his victory. Read on to find out his thoughts on the competition.

"Before going on Date My Ex I had never heard of Real Housewives of OC and knew nothing about Jo. I actually didn't even really know a lot about Bravo," Lucas admitted. However, when it comes to Jo, who previously appeared in The Real Housewives of Orange County, he says that when he got to know her, she was "very outgoing and she's very easy to talk too, so those qualities attracted me to her."

After seven weeks, the reality dating show Date My Ex: Jo and Slade wraps up its season with its eight and final episode tonight at 10pm on Bravo.

To those who need a refresher, Date My Ex: Jo and Slade is a spin-off of another Bravo show The Real Housewives of Orange County. Jo De La Rosa and Slade Smiley both appeared on the show's first two seasons. After cutting off their engagement, they've broken up but somehow remained friends, and now Slade is helping his ex-fiancé find a suitable man. Now the “suitors” all end up living with Slade as he helps sifting through them.

After experiencing the lavish lifestyle and domestic drama on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Jo De La Rosa leaves Orange County behind to find love in Bravo's newest dating competition series, Date My Ex: Jo & Slade. However, she won't be tapping into the dating pool alone. With the help of her ex-fiancé, she'll be looking for potential suitors while pursuing a recording career beginning tonight at 10pm ET/PT.

De La Rosa first appeared on the first season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, which premiered on March 21, 2006. She continued appearing on the show until the second season in 2007 and eventually landed her own spin-off show that will document her pursuit of a music career and a new love interest.

Reality television hits the real world when Date My Ex: Jo & Slade stars celebrated the premiere of the new Bravo TV show by attending a charity date auction. Jo De La Rosa of The Real Housewives of Orange County fame and her ex-fiancé Slade Smiley hit the streets of New York for the event. The first stint being held on a Wednesday night, July 9, at the Tenjune nightclub, the charity affair was called “Recycle Your Ex.” It was organized to raise money for the Natural Resources Defense Council.

The promo for the reality show is all about bringing your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend to the stage. Not to pelt them with rotten tomatoes, but to auction them off. “Recycle Your Ex” featured a number of prizes. For the first event, there was the $350 gift certificate for a date at Wall Street Burger Shoppe with Selena, an NYU student sold for $750. Another prize was going out to Buddha Bar for $200, with “spicy” analyst Lauren from Short Hills, New Jersey. No one got to win Jo De La Rosa, though, as she wasn't even auctioned. She merely cheered the people on, dancing on a banquette away from the stage.

'Date My Ex' Kicks off with Jo and Slade: The Break Up

We're all familiar with Jo De La Rosa, the young party-going partner of Slade Smiley on The Real Wives of Orange County seasons 1 and 2. Last we checked, Jo was focusing on a career in music rather than motherhood or marriage. Going back, she was engaged to father of three Slade, and their relationship was in trouble for Jo's refusal (or perhaps sheer incapability) to settle down and Smiley's strong desire to do so. All's not lost, however, as the two are now in a new kind of relationship, with Smiley managing Jo's singing career and helping his ex-fiancé to find love anew.

Early on, we reported that Jo is leaving the gated communities of Orange County to the fast world of Los Angeles. Since the split, Jo seems to be enjoying the single life and has even recorded a debut single called “You Can't Control Me.” An allusion to Slade? You be the judge.

Jo De La Rosa found love in Slade Smiley, who served as her entrance into the Coto lifestyle as featured on the reality TV series The Real Housewives of Orange County. Despite having all of her financial needs taken care of, she still had trouble adjusting to the traditional housewife role so she left the gated community. Because of this, Smiley ended their romantic relationship. However, their split wasn't at all bitter as he now serves as her manager as she attempts to find love once again.

Date My Ex: Jo & Slade, Bravo's new dating competition series, follows De La Rosa as she leaves Orange County behind in search for love and adventure in Los Angeles, where she has moved to pursue a singing career. Since splitting with her ex, she has enjoyed her single life, which is quite different to her Real Housewives days with Smiley in Orange County. In fact, she has already recorded her debut single, "You Can't Control Me."
