HBO Renews 'True Blood', 'Entourage', 'Hung'

Sunday nights will get a little more consistent on HBO.

The network has announced that they are renewing True Blood, Entourage and Hung for new seasons in 2010. The announcement was made earlier by HBO's programming chief Michael Lombardo at the TCA press tour in Pasadena, CA.

Two weeks after the limited release of comedy Whatever Works, writer-director Woody Allen credits its star, Curb Your Enthusiasm creator and star Larry David for the believability of the film's central character.

"He's believable to me as an intellectual, as a guy who would know physics, who was cultivated, who'd be sardonic and opinionated and really very taken with himself," he tells San Jose Mercury News. "And, as Zero was, insecure underneath. Also, both of them could both play this kind of character, as Larry does on his television show, and there was still something about them that was vulnerable and likable."

"I don't see why not," David tells Star Pulse. "Yeah, I was comfortable, I was comfortable, it was not a big stretch to do the part."

Almost three months before we kick off the seventh season of HBO cult hit Curb Your Enthusiasm, another big personality adds her name to the roster of guest stars on the series.

Nineties rom-com queen Meg Ryan will appear in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, reports Entertainment Weekly. If Ryan, 47, will appear alongside the Seinfeld cast who will figure in a multi-episode story line this season, is still unknown.

After confirming that the HBO cult hit Curb Your Enthusiasm will in fact be back for at least a 10-episode seventh season, Curb actor and producer Jeff Garlin confirms that the earliest they can get season 7 on air is during the fall season of this year. Variety reported previously that Curb Your Enthusiasm season 7 went back to production in December, but no exact premiere date has been set.

In an interview with Vern Glenn from KRON 4, Garlin confirmed that Curb Your Enthusiasm creator and star Larry David is in the process of writing the episodes for season 7, clarifying that pretty much of the show's lines are improvised.

As Curb Your Enthusiasm begins production this month, some details about the upcoming season 7 are slowly finding their way onto the internet. Not much has been revealed about what the new 10-episode season is all about though there have been rumors that the new season story arc will include Larry David working on a Woody Allen movie, just like he did in real life. Most recently, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reported on another update.

In case you haven't heard, 10-time Grammy Award-winning rapper Kanye West has been in talks to do a TV show similar to the HBO hit Curb Your Enthusiasm for the same cable network, with Borat director Larry Charles as the frontrunner. Recently, however, it seems that the network has curbed its enthusiasm about it.

In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Charles hinted that the improvised show has been shelved, even though a pilot has already been shot.

I love TV comedy. For me, there's nothing better. Good comedy is always, always hard to come by. It's forever hit and miss, the bad comedy consistently overwhelming the good comedy. The success rate for a comedy of any kind is abysmally low. More fail than succeed. This is nowhere more apparent than on television. But, even so, today's crop TV comedy is very, very good. The Best Comedy category of the Emmys is, as a result, quite hard to predict this year. The nominees are diverse, both in tone and quality – Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, 30 Rock, Entourage and Two and a Half Men. One of these shows will take home a cute little statue this Sunday. Let's take a gander at who the favorites might be.

Susie Essman, best known for her role as Susie Greene, wife of Larry David's manager on the HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm, has finally wed real-estate broker Jim Harder, her boyfriend of five years. According to The New York Times, the wedding took place on Saturday at the Friars Club in Manhattan. The ceremony was officiated by Tom Fontana, a writer and producer whose credits include HBO's Oz and who is also a minister of the American Fellowship Church.

The couple first met in New York during Thanksgiving weekend of 2003. Harder was visiting his brother Michael, an interior decorator who is a friend of the Curb star. Despite their connection, Mike never bothered to introduce Essman and Harder since he didn't think that they would hit it off. Aside from the fact that Harder lived 150 miles from New York, he was also divorced with four kids. That weekend, however, Harder joined his brother and Essman on a shopping spree and Essman saw something in Harder that she had not found in Hollywood.

Cheryl Hines, best known for her role as Cheryl David, Larry David's wife on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, has just been cast on ABC's newly acquired series, In the Motherhood, which is based on the online series of the same name. The show follows the adventures of three moms, originally played by Chelsea Handler, Leah Remini and Jenny McCarthy, whose exploits are based on real-life stories of moms across the country.

However, not all three actresses will make the transition from web to the TV series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, only Handler is expected to continue on the ABC series. On the other hand, Hines and Will & Grace's Megan Mullally have signed on to take over for McCarthy and Remini.

'The Office,' Best Comedy Nominees Submit Episodes to Emmy Voters

These Emmy voters. Who are they? Considering the process they must go through to watch the nominated episodes for Best Comedy and Best Drama, you'd think they were locked in a closet for eleven and a half months out of the year. The system seems overly complicated: to get your show up for initial consideration, you send the Emmy voters one episode of your series. When the field is then pared down to the final nominees (as they are now), each series provides six episodes (or, six hours for dramas, six half-hours for comedies) to the voters. First, however, the academy places those six episodes on three separate tapes. The tapes are then randomly distributed to the Emmy voters, all of whom receive two of the three tapes. This means, of course, that not every Emmy voter is seeing the same episodes. Perhaps this makes sense to some people (probably the same people who were responsible for nominating Two and a Half Men for Best Comedy). Anyways, the fine folks at Gold Derby recently got a hold of the specific episode lists that each Best Comedy series sent out to voters. You will find those lists below, along with some commentary.

It is perhaps an understatement to call the film Woody Allen and Larry David had been working on highly anticipated. After all, it's the project that's lately been keeping the creator and star of the Emmy-winning HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm reportedly too busy to write new episodes and get going with season 7. Previously, HBO President Michael Lombardo confirmed that it was this endeavor that's been taking much of David's time, and that “hopefully” by the end of next year, he'll be done with it and back with Curb Your Enthusiasm.

JSOnline reports that the Woody Allen and Larry David collaboration now has a title: Whatever Works, a “blackish comedy” where David plays the love interest of 20-year-old Evan Rachel, whom Allen commended for a “great” performance, despite being a young actress working with such heavyweights.

Jeff Garlin Joins the Cast of New Pixar Film

Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Jeff Garlin has joined the cast of Pixar's latest venture, WALL-E. The upcoming CGI animated feature film, set in the future, follows the story of the last robot on Earth, whose main task is to clean up the litter caused by rampant consumerism. In the process, he falls in love with Eve, a robot from a probe sent to Earth to monitor WALL-E's progress.

Also part of the cast is Fred Willard (Everybody Loves Raymond, Mad About You). Willard will play the CEO of the BuyNLarge Corporation, an incompetent company that supplies the clean-up robots. His role will be the first non-animated character to appear in a Pixar film.
