The premiere showcased some dysfunctional mother-daughter relationships, especially Patty's and Laura's, that made it hard to tear your eyes away from the TV screen. Laura also proved right from the start to be the bitchy girl in the house, gleefully waking everyone up in the morning with her high-pitched vocal exercises.

Remember Team Silent But Deadly? I will never forget their first appearance before panel, in which Carson Kressley explained what their team name refers to. (I have since interviewed Alana and Annette and found out that Alana, at least, was well aware of the double meaning, but was edited out to look foolish.)
The penultimate episode of Crowned begins with the five remaining teams discussing Team Beauty is Skin Deep's shocking exit. Rachelle consoles Christan and Ada for not having had a chance to say good-bye to their roommates. Laura jumps into the conversation and snaps at Rachelle. They get into a huge argument, Patty telling Rachelle not to go around doling out unsolicited advice to people. Poor Ada and Christan feel caught in the middle. Laura mocks the Goody Two Shoes girls for being ugly while claiming that people should be beautiful both on the inside and on the outside.

Crowned: Episode 1.6 "BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP" Recap

Previously on Crowned, the Goal Driven Gals Brenda and Heather were de-sashed, and Team Beauty is Skin Deep took top honors in their video blog. There are only six mother-daughter teams left to vie for $100,000 and a pair of tiaras.

Tonight's episode of Crowned begins with Linnea telling the girls to get ready for a day outside. She instructs them to wear pants and closed-toed shoes, and the girls are taken by bus to a construction site. They will be working for Habitat for Humanity for the day, working on a construction site. Poor Mindy.
Her kids are mainly too young to have developed quite the dramatic relationships you sometimes see on Crowned, with her children with Travis Barker Landon Asher Alabama Luella at 4-years-old and 2-years-old respectively, and her daughter from a prior relationship with boxer Oscar de la Hoya, Atiana Cecilia, at 8-years old.
Tonight's Crowned begins immediately with an announcement from pageant director Linnea. She tells the teams to meet in the rose courtyard with their heels on for a dance contest. At the courtyard, Linnea explains that there is always an opening dance routine that occurs at the beginning of every pageant. To help them with their dance is Scott, the choreographer for a dozen major pageants. He walks them through a cute little dance. Jill and Gina are two moms with the worst dance abilities, but they seem good-natured about it. In the middle of the dance, Scott takes them through a trust-fall exercise, but it's unclear whether the trust fall is part of the dance.

Crowned: Shanna Moakler Dishes About Being a Judge

One of the big challenges of being a judge on most reality shows seems to be the disconnect between what you do and what the public thinks you do.

During the last season of Top Chef, many show fans were outraged that Hung Huynh – who was clearly the show's villain based on his interactions with other contestants – could win the prize. The judges, however, commented in the press that their role was to judge each individual challenge on the merit of the meal they were served, not the personality of the contestant.

Tonight's Crowned begins with a kind of annoying theme song. Am I off my rocker, or is this the first time they are using this song? And now he's got a new gig, back to the purer style of doling out the fashion related advice. And at the first de-sashing ceremony, we were introduced to the bejeweled scissors that were responsible for de-sashing the Reigning A's.

Tonight's Crowned begins after the first de-sashing ceremony. Tenia and Angela (Team Skin Deep) express their concern over the gigantic bejeweled scissors. Some other teams who came up with less than desirable team names get to work on making up new ones. Alana and Annette, formerly Silent But Deadly, decide they want to be called The Realists instead. Way to undersell yourself, ladies. The most anticipated reality series of the year has finally arrived! It is Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants, and it is going to rock your world. The episode opens with a montage of clips from the coming season. It looks promising, especially the bit about how every mother-daughter relationship will be put to the test. Full disclosure: I have mommy issues, which is why I predict I will love this show!

A bus toting all 11 mother-daughter teams makes its way up the street. Laura confessionals that even though she and her mother Patty don't have pageant experience, they are definitely the ones to beat. Oh my gosh, Patty has the same blank look that Catherine O'Hara had in Waiting for Guffman. Hollis wants to show girls all across the country that beauty comes in many forms.
One of the judges is a completely obvious choice, but the other two might not have been immediately apparent.

'Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants' Is Pure Genius

Premiering next Wednesday night at 9pm, Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants is the early Christmas present that I didn't even know I wanted, but now that I know about it, I definitely cannot live without it.

Now, I'm not usually a fan of pageants, although I admit that I did gawk uncomfortably at Miss South Carolina's amazingly incoherent explanation of why Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map. But what makes Crowned so spectacularly good that it's bad is that the geniuses who dreamed it up were smart enough to make it a mother-daughter competition. Eleven mother-daughter teams compete in an eight-week-long pageant competition for a chance to win $100,000 and a pair of fabulous tiaras.

Crowned: 2007 Ending on a High Note for Shanna Moakler

Shanna Moakler is no stranger to reality television. She's appeared on Punk'd when she was still dating now-husband Travis Barker, helping Ashton Kutcher set him up for a prank. She and Travis were then featured on Meet the Barkers which followed her marriage to Travis.

However, her next reality appearance, on Dancing with the Stars, was not during the happiest time in their marriage. Travis had just filed for divorce a little more than a month before she appeared on that show. Adding to the challenging personal time, she also had the disappointment of being eliminated in the second week of that season.

However, her upcoming role in the new CW reality series, Crowned: The Mother of All Beauty Pageants, seems to bringing with it some better fortunes for the blond beauty and former Miss USA.

The CW Announces Premiere Date for Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants

The CW has announced a premiere date for the network's upcoming reality competition called Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants. The show, which pits mother-daughter teams against each other in a beauty pageant, is set to debut on Wednesday, December 12 at 9pm, following the season finale of the network's hit reality model search, America's Next Top Model.
