NBC Sets Return Date of 'Chuck'

Good news Chuck fans! Instead of keeping the spry dramedy on hold until March, NBC has set an earlier-than-expected return for the "average computer-whiz-next-door." Chuck kicks off its third season on Sunday, January 10 at 9pm with two action-packed, back-to-back original episodes before officially moving to its regular timeslot on Mondays, beginning January 11 at 8pm. Yes, this means we'll be getting three hours of Zachary Levi over two nights is a row!

NBC Says Goodbye to 'Trauma' and Hello to More 'Chuck'

After picking up full seasons of Mercy, Community and Parks and Recreation just last week, NBC has decided to cancel Trauma, the fall TV series about a group of paramedics in San Francisco, California just a month following its September 28 premiere. According to the Hollywood Reporter, however, the network will finish producing the rest of the original 13-episode order of the medical drama, which stars Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, and Anastasia Griffith among others.

The Creative Arts Emmys were held Saturday night, and some big names one the major awards. The Guest Acting awards are usually the big draw, and this year was no exception. On the Drama side, Ellen Burstyn won for Law and Order: SVU while Michael J. Fox won for his recurring role on Rescue Me.

'Chuck' Has a Thing for 'Smallville' Star Kristin Kreuk

The nerds are getting the girls. Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has reported that Smallville actress Kristin Kreuk will be heading over to the NBC series Chuck. After her vacation from TV, she's bagged a new role and will be playing a love interest for the show's protagonist.

The 26-year-old actress will be joining the show as Hannah, a girl who Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) meets on a flight to Paris. She's just been laid off from her glamorous job in the world of publishing, so she ends up working at the Buy More. The guys of the Nerd Herd should consider themselves lucky.

Comic-Con 2009: 'Chuck' Rocks with Comedy and Music

Wow! Who knew Comic-Con could bring the rock? Well, that's exactly what the Chuck panel served up to a roomful of very faithful, very dedicated fans. Ballroom 20 was filled to capacity with eager fans ready to find out what was in store for the new season of Chuck.

The panel started with a look back at season 2, then showed everybody what happened in creator Josh Schwartz's office "One month later" (though it was obviously just for laughs). The video showed Schwartz telling a now bearded star Zachary Levi that the show will not be picked up. Then the phone rings. It's NBC with the news that Chuck is being picked up for a third season. Levi exits the office to shave and work on his Kung-Fu in excitement to film a new season while Schwartz and co-creator Chris Fedak are left behind disappointed.

San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Saturday Schedule

The Saturday and Sunday Comic-Con schedules were released over the weekend. I thought things would get really good on Saturday, but the list is less than impressive. I suppose with four full days of Comic-Con, you can spread out the really big panels. Once again, below is a list of our picks for the day. Check it out and if you see anything missing, check the full list here.

One thing I'm curious about is the Chuck panel. Why is it at 10am? Doesn't Chuck deserve one of the better time slots? Wouldn't NBC push for a better panel time? Chuck already had some struggles last season, but this season promises to kick-ass and the new kung fu twist is perfect for the Comic-Con fans. I stand perplexed. Either way, it looks like I'll be spending my morning with a donut, cup of coffee and my favorite show Chuck.

San Diego Comic-Con Releases Friday Schedule

First, let's get this out in the open: initial reports said that Supernatural and Smallville will have their panels on Sunday so don't freak out that the shows aren't included in the first two days.

Other than that, Friday's schedule looks amazing. Although my TV favorites aren't on the list, my movie favorites are. There a a couple more timing conflicts and I'm guessing that people are going to have to make some tough choices. When in doubt, stick with Whedon, Rodriguez, Cameron and Jackson.

Partial Comic Con 2009 Schedule Released

I know you all have been dying to hear who will be at this year's Comic Con. I have some good news for all the Twilight and Supernatural fans out there. Although guest lists haven't been confirmed yet, both camps will be present for panels, which is no surprise. Other Comic Con essentials confirmed are Chuck, Lost, Fringe, True Blood, Smallville, Vampire Diaries, and the new Peter Jackson flick District 9.

Hope for a Full 'Chuck' Season?

After the amazing news that NBC has decided to renew Chuck for 13 episodes, no small thanks to the tons of Subway footlongs purchased on finale night courtesy of the devoted fans, TV Guide reports that it's possible that the NBC spy-comedy will be renewed for a full season.

"We may extend it out and continue it through the summer," says NBC entertainment president Ben Silverman, adding that it all depends on the ratings and it might be a good idea to pair it up with similarly ratings-challenged Friday Night Lights, which owes its continued existence to a deal inked between NBC and satellite provider DirecTV.

After its initial announcement last month about the shows it would pick up, today NBC revealed its official 2009-2010 schedule and also made several official cancellations.

My Name is Earl and Medium are both gone, though there are possibilities that both shows could be picked up by rival networks.?? For My Name is Earl, it's especially difficult since the season ended with a cliffhanger.

'Chuck' Prevails and Gets Renewed for Season 3

The fans have won against the evils of big-shot networks, since NBC has conceded and renewed the series Chuck for a third season. Despite low ratings, the Josh Schwartz action-comedy was given another shot and will be returning next fall.

Chuck's new installment will compose of 13 episodes, as NBC picked it up once more from Warner Bros. Still, good news is usually accompanied by its counterpart. It has been reported that the company made some budget concessions to secure the show's return. This means the season might not be as, well, "complete" as its predecessors.

NBC Unveils Fall Line-up, Six New Shows Ordered, No Word on 'Chuck'

NBC unveiled their slate of programs for the 2009-2010 season this morning. Six new pilots were picked up (two comedies, four dramas). NBC failed to concoct an actual day-by-day schedule for the Fall - they are expected to release that schedule within a couple of weeks. Not mentioned during NBC's announcement this morning were the likes of Chuck, Medium, My Name is Earl, Law & Order and Life. Some of those series could get picked up for mid-season. As of right now, the fall schedule looks filled to the brim, especially when you consider that Jay Leno's new show will be taking up five hours of prime-time per week. For Chuck fans, the wait continues, although the forecast isn't terribly bright. Shows picked up for next season include Parks and Recreation, Southland and Heroes. NBC has also ordered six more episodes of Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday for the Fall.

NBC top guns might be crunching some mean and complicated numbers, as the network recently put off the announcement of either cancellation or renewal of quirky sophomore comedy Chuck for another week or so. The series starring Zachary Levi is riding on a massive Internet campaign to salvage it from being cut short, culminating in a footlong-buying activity during its season 2 finale Friday participated in by Levi himself.

"I thought we were going to hear about it this Monday because NBC's announcing a bunch of its schedule, but I just got an email from [executive producer] Josh Schwartz, and he said stay positive, [but] we're not going to find out on Monday. It could be another week or two. They're making their final tallies and decisions."

Buy a Sandwich; Save 'Chuck' Campaign Builds Up

As NBC continues to toy with the idea of renewing Chuck or not, its fans are determined to show the network that if Jericho fans can do it with 20 tons of peanuts, so can they. Apparently, these save Chuck campaigns have gathered renewed steam as they find a singular front through a sandwich, and perfect timing in last night's finale.

A massive online campaign was launched last night imploring Chucks fans to head to the nearest Subway branch, purchase a $5 footlong, and drop a note in the comment box indicating your participation in the ChuckTV.net campaign. Subway, as a product placement sponsor on the NBC series, can reportedly sway the network and prove to be a "business justification" to grant the show a third season.

Tonight's second season finale will be epic, says Joshua Gomez, who plays the titular character's best friend on action-comedy series Chuck. The pronouncement comes in the heels of NBC still having no word on whether Chuck will be renewed for a third season, amidst intense online campaigns to "save Chuck."

"I'm really curious to see what the fans think of [the finale]," Gomez says. "I know everybody kind of felt that this past episode was sort of a finale-esque episode."

'Chuck' Creator Clueless About Show's Future

No one knows what's going to happen to Chuck, not even creator Josh Schwartz, reports the New York Times. Amidst rumors of the NBC action-comedy series not returning for a third season, Schwartz said not knowing where the show stands is emotionally "tricky" especially since he believes the last two episodes they've done are among the best. Also, he calls the slew of online campaigns clamoring for Chuck's return "really remarkable," adding that a loyal fan base can make a big difference in this day and age.

"The difference between being a hit show and being an on-the-bubble show is so small now," he said. "The metrics have become so narrow that everything does help... Now, more than ever, that kind of fan support can really have an impact. The cost of launching a television series is as high as it's ever been. And obviously the odds have never gotten any better."

'Chuck' Star Thanks Fans for Support

Amidst rumors that Chuck is up for cancellation (or, more accurately, non-confirmation from NBC that it’ll be renewed), the fans of the NBC series are already rallying online to convince the network to renew their favorite show. Especially after NBC canceled Crusoe, Lipstick Jungle, and My Own Worst Enemy, rumors are rife that Chuck is next. For his part, the star of the show expressed his gratitude to the fans who are helping to save Chuck, which is two episodes shy of completing its sophomore run.

“It’s amazing to see how many campaigns have sprung up for the sole purpose of keeping Chuck around,” Zachary Levi tells the followers of one of his fan sites. “To know that our show evokes that kind of support within our fan base is overwhelming. On behalf of our entire cast & crew, I personally want to thank each and every one of you who has taken up the fight. Battlestar Galactica may be over, but Tricia Helfer is doing just fine. After a scintellating run as the villainous Carla on USA’s Burn Notice, the sensual Caprica Six is now heating up NBC’s Chuck. In this Monday’s new episode, “Chuck vs. the Broken Heart,” Helfer guest stars as Chuck’s new temporary handler, Agent Alex Forrest.

NBC released a new clip from this week’s episode of Chuck, and it’s a doozy. Agent Forrest goes undercover as the stripper at Captain Awesome’s bachelor party. If you thought Caprica Six was sexy, you haven’t seen anything. Check out this video clip from Chuck:

'Battlestar Galactica' Veterans Appear on 'The Closer,' 'Chuck'

Battlestar Galactica ended last Friday, concluding its four year run on the Sci Fi Channel. The characters may be hard to come by until the TV movie The Plan, but the show's stars have been keeping busy elsewhere. Tahmoh Penikett is on Dollhouse, Katee Sackhoff had a recurring role on Nip/Tuck, Mary McDonnell showed up on Grey's Anatomy and Tricia Helfer visited USA's Burn Notice.

Those last two have even more TV gigs lined up for the future. McDonnell will make an extended run on The Closer and Helfer will guest star on this week’s Chuck

Chuck returns next week with a very special 3D episode called “Chuck vs. The Third Dimension.” To make things even more exciting, Dominic Monaghan will be guest starring as rock star Tyler Martin. Monaghan, who played Charlie Pace on Lost, will be reprising his role as a rock star, but this time on a comedy. I'm sure Martin will be nothing like washed up and tortured Pace of Drive Shaft.

Five preview clips have been released and I can already tell this episode is going to be amazing. First, there's the Willy Wonka reference. Tyler Martin decides to place a golden ticket in one of his CD covers for one lucky fan. Morgan, who doesn't even like Martin, is obsessed with getting it. I hope they have one or two more references to Wonka in the episode to top it all off. Also, there's a new, slightly intimidating, employee at the BuyMore named Mr. Butterman. What could be better?

Now being a “shipper” is a very serious thing. I mean, as your characters fall in love, you do too. 2008 was full of great television relationships. We had to narrow it down to a lucky 20 for BuddyTV users to choose from.

Any shipper fanatic knows their “ship” inside and out. I, for one, will always be a LoVe shipper. That is - Logan and Veronica of Veronica Mars. 2008 saw the development of new ships, the crumble of others, and the long lasting tension of our older ships. Overall, it's been a great year for most shippers.

The competition will be fierce as there are a lot of fans out there. When we did our “Which One Tree Hill Couple is Best” showdown, Brook and Lucas pulled out the win from underneath Leyton and Naley fans. MiSa (Michael and Sara from Prison Break) fans have been known to be a powerful force.

Webisodes Cure Mid-Season Blues for 'Heroes', 'Office' Fans

It's December, and as happens each year, many of our favorite shows have curled up in their dens (“production studios”) to hibernate until spring. For the avid television viewer, the dark days of winter are a reflection of the dark TV screen, turned off until new episodes return in January and February. It can be a confusing and lonely time for TV viewers. Some even resort to reading books.

Thankfully, the big studios are working harder than ever to give viewers a temporary cure for the mid-season break blues: a new crop of Webisodes from favorites like Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, and more.

Chuck: It's About the Parents (Or, At Least, Authority Figures)

Exploration time on Chuck: it's the authority figures' time to shine. It's a little weird thinking of it at first, but judging from last week's episode, it could go that way.

It wasn't exactly a giveaway at the end—Chuck (Zachary Levi) springing Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) a vow about tracking down their father so she can be happier during her impending wedding—but it was a well-sprung surprise. We did see Casey (Adam Baldwin) deal with all those feelings of betrayal upon discovering that his old mentor (guest star Carl Lumbly) has turned rogue and is basically out to get him, and that served as a pretty good parallel.

Chuck: Episode 2.9 "Chuck vs. The Sensei" Review

Although tonight's episode was titled “Chuck vs. The Sensei,” it really should have been “Casey vs. The Sensei” instead. With Chuck just having endured the whole Jill saga (lasting a trio of episodes), the Chuck writers shrewdly gave Mr. Bartowski a number of things to distract him from what should have been a time of sadness and reflection. We had our Sarah Walker episode earlier in the season – tonight was the John Casey episode. And, as it turns out, Agent Casey is a former karate student who learned everything he knows from his sensei. That sounds about right.
