The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are this Sunday at 8pm on CBS. Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, it looks like two shows will have a stranglehold on the night: Mad Men for Drama and 30 Rock for Comedy, both coming in with an overwhelming lead in total nominations.

But will they really prevail. Check out the nominees for the major Emmy Drama categories below and who I think will win, then make your own picks and watch along with me Sunday night.

The Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and there were some truly out-of-the-box nominees. Sarah Silverman for Lead Actress in a Comedy for her Comedy Central show? Flight of the Conchords for Comedy Series and Jemaine Clement for Lead Actor? Simon Baker from The Mentalist? And Family Guy for Outstanding Comedy Series? Yeah, these aren't your daddy's Emmys.

2009 Emmy Nominations Preview: What to Expect

It's Emmy nomination eve as TV fans are looking forward to tomorrow morning's Emmy nominations, announced at 8:35am ET by Grey';s Anatomy's Chandra Wilson and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons.

This year there are plenty of interesting changes and storylines going into the announcement. As always, Grey's Anatomy has plenty of drama, with Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight's behind-the-scenes decisions and Patrick Dempsey's choice to submit himself as a supporting actor for the first time. Expanding the major acting and series categories to six nominees each should also add some extra spice into the morning.

A lot is made of the overwhelming number of great leading roles for women on cable, but if the official Emmy ballots are any indication, women are still a minority when it comes to starring TV roles. On the official ballot sent to Emmy voters, there are 70 contenders for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, but only 48 for the Lead Actress category.

But the numbers don't help the major networks. Despite the fact that more than 60 percent of the potential nominees come from the five major networks, it's the cable guys and gals who take the lead at the Emmys.

Aaron Paul Talks about 'Breaking Bad' Role

As we approach the May 31 finale of the stinging AMC black dramedy Breaking Bad, Aaron Paul, who plays Jesse Pinkman, the intense junior partner of Bryan Cranston's chemistry teacher cum meth producer Walter White, says they have great "chemistry together," pun slightly intended.

"Everyone says, 'Yeah, you guys have great chemistry.' Jesse and Walt are the odd couple. And I think that's what really makes our characters so great. It's constantly butting heads, constant disagreeing."

Breaking Bad: Preview of Season Premiere "Seven Thirty-Seven"

When we left off the AMC dark dramedy Breaking Bad, Walter (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) were having difficulties trying to come up with the large amount of meth they promised to Tuco (Raymond Cruz), a sociopath drug kingpin who eventually became the two's distributor. Walter, of course, is the high school chemistry teacher who, after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, turned to making meth to support his family.

After a year-long hiatus, Breaking Bad returns today for its sophomore season with an episode called “Seven Thirty-Seven.” On it, Walter and Jesse try to figure a way out of their business partnership with Tuco when they are reminded of his not-so-stable nature. Elsewhere, Hank (Dean Norris) tries to mend fences with estranged wife and Walter's sister-in-law Marie (Betsy Brandt) and Skyler (Anna Gunn), Walter's wife.

Emmy Top 10 Drama Actors: 'BSG' Actress Gets Some Love, 'Lost' Actors Snubbed

Last Thursday the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences unveiled the comedy and drama series up for Primetime Emmy nominations. Though those lists were made public, the nominations in the acting categories have been kept secret – though Gold Derby's Tom O'Neil has tapped his sources and sifted through rumors to provide the unofficial top 10 lists of who made the cut.

The Emmy nominations are a two step process. They begin with a popular vote of all eligible ATAS members that determines what actors and which series will be on the top 10 lists. Each of those 10 nominees then submits an episode that best highlights their work and the academy ranks them, with the popular votes and rankings determining which five will be up for an Emmy. Today O'Neil unveiled the rumored top 10 lists of best lead actor and lead actress in a drama series.

AMC Orders Another Round of 'Breaking Bad'

AMC is feeling good about Breaking Bad. The network has just picked up another season of the dark comedy drama helmed by Vince Gilligan, giving fans 13 new episodes to look forward to.

The series, which stars Bryan Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle) as dying chemistry teacher Walter White who goes from meek and mild family man to drug kingpin in order to secure his family's financial well-being, has been generally well received by critics since its premiere in January. It has also earned good numbers during its Sunday night reign and has helped the network improve its overall ranking.

Last month, AMC premiered a new show called Breaking Bad, starring Bryan Cranston. Cranston, who is known from his work on such shows as Malcolm In The Middle, How I Met Your Mother, and Seinfeld, stars on the series. Critics call his character, Walt White, the "role of a lifetime" for Cranston, who has been in the business for over 25 years. Breaking Bad airs on Sunday nights at 10pm ET. On January 20, AMC is premiering Breaking Bad, a new dramedy that revolves around a high school chemistry teacher who, after being diagnosed with lung cancer, sets up a meth lab in an RV in order to provide for his wife and handicapped son. Creator Vince Gilligan, the man behind the highly-successful X-Files series, is unsure of what exactly drove him to develop a show with the particular premise.

“I'm not really sure what inspired it. All I can remember is that I was talking to an old college buddy - also a writer - about two years ago. We were joking on the phone about how we should quit writing and find another line of work. Somehow, cooking meth came up as one possibility,” Villigan told the Times-Dispatch. “Obviously, we were joking. But this character sprung into my head. I've never had that happen to me before.”
