'American Chopper' and 'Deadliest Catch' Up for Syndication

American Chopper and Deadliest Catch, two of Discovery Communications' highest-rated series, is about to enter into syndication, marking the company's first venture into syndication.

According to TV Week, Discovery hired Debmar-Mercury, a company run by Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein that has a history of distributing off-cable series like Comedy Central's South Park, to sell the two reality shows to local stations. Both American Chopper and Deadliest Catch will be aired as weekend shows on a barter basis, with each of the stations and Discovery getting seven minutes of ad time per hour.

Orange County Choppers to do a Trade-off with Silver State

Silver State Helicopters President and CEO Jerry Airola announced on June 9th that the company has entered into a newly formed collaboration with Orange County Choppers (OCC), the custom motorcycle manufacturer featured in TLC’s American Chopper. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Stewart International Airport in New York.

“This relationship with Orange County Choppers is another indication of the continual expansion and growth of Silver State Helicopters," Airola said. "Both companies are part of very exciting and intense industries. It seems natural for us to exchange a chopper for a chopper.”

American Chopper is a reality television series on The Learning Channel (the Discovery Channel's sister channel) based on the company Orange County Choppers (OCC), a custom motorcycle workshop founded by Paul Teutul, Sr. and his son, Paul Teutul, Jr. OCC is based in Montgomery, New York.
