'90210' Lesbian Love Story Not a Fling

Our readers are pretty much split in the middle over this whole imminent lesbian coupling on 90210. If you're somehow out of the loop, Gia, played by guest star Rumer Willis, is set to have a something-something with wounded Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes). 90210 showrunner Rebecca Sinclair insists that the pairing isn't a cheap stunt to attract viewers, but a genuine exploration of a valid teenage issue.

"This isn't a fling," she tells Entertainment Weekly. "We're coming at this [relationship] from a genuine place and not going, 'Let's do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.' This is a real aspect of teenager life that's interesting."

Rumer Willis To Turn Someone Lesbian on '90210'?

We already know before that the character Rumer Willis plays on 90210 isn't exactly straight, but Entertainment Weekly reports something more - a hitherto straight female cast who just might be a very willing recipient to Willis' Gia's lesbian loving.

On tonight's episode for instance, Gia and Navid (Michael Steger) launch an investigation into student drug use at West Beverly for Blaze News, which leads them to Annie's (Shenae Grimes) boyfriend Jasper, something that laves Annie torn over who to believe. But who, you ask, will be Gia's love interest?

While the CW only has eight shows on TV right now, the network is working hard to find the next popular series by developing shows for pilot season. Traditionally, networks start out with a large number of shows in development, then some will get made into pilots, then the network will choose some of those to add to its schedule for Fall 2010.

How DVR Ratings are Saving the CW

The traditional Nielsen ratings might say that shows like NCIS and Grey's Anatomy are on top, but when it comes to younger audiences and non-traditional ways of watching TV, the CW is way out in front.

The official premiere week for television was the week of Monday, September 21, and while the CW's shows had mostly premiered by then, they were still lumped together at the top of the DVR ratings report when the final +7 numbers came in. If you're new to ratings analysis, DVR +7 refers to the numbers of times a show was watched on DVR within seven days after it originally aired.

90210: Naomi and Liam News

On last week's season 2 premiere of 90210, Liam (Matt Lanter) appeared virtually out of no where, and, in true Hollywood fashion, just when Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) was telling her posse that she hasn't moved on just yet. In between the finale and last week's kick-off, Liam has definitely changed - softer, tamer, and from the looks of it, infinitely more reserved.

Lanter tells the Los Angeles Times that 90210 fans shouldn't be too sure if Liam has indeed changed, despite and after military camp. "We're actually not sure how it has affected him. There was actually some discussion before we started the season about how this would change him for the better, maybe not for the better, maybe not change him at all. I think the verdict is still kind of out."

90210: Preview of Episode 2.2 "To Sext or Not to Sext"

Is tonight's episode of 90210 still in reference to no sex Navid and no drama Adrianna (I swear, that one was funny the first time, when she said it again, it lost all spark)? On "To Sext or Not to Sext" Naomi is still furious with Annie for what happened on prom night, and we all know she has a secret weapon up her sleeve courtesy of a not-so-smart junior and blue tooth technology. As we saw on the last episode, Dixon is also furious at Annie for an entirely different matter, which means it's really going to be a rough season for the principal's daughter.

Meanwhile, Silver is still convinced that she and Dixon can work things out, but the other two in her posse try to push her to the other direction and get some space. Liam has also returned to school and tries to apologize to Naomi for what happened, insisting that he didn't sleep with Annie. Who did he sleep with, he doesn't want to tell Naomi nonetheless.

90210: Preview of Episode 2.1 "To New Beginnings"

If most reviewers are to be trusted, 90210 resumes tonight with all the drama that came with it in season 1. Then there's also the matter of the new characters to make things sizzle more. On tonight's kick-off, the guys - except Annie (Shenae Grimes), Navid (Michael Steger), and Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) - are forced to attend summer school after Annie anonymously called the police after the finale's after-prom party. From the looks of things, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), Silver (Jessica Stroup), and Adrianna have formed a close bond over the summer, while Annie is apparently still reeling from her hit-and-run accident.

Elsewhere on the 90210 season 2 premiere, everyone seems to hang out at the Beverly Hills Beach Club, where we finally meet the new 90210 golden boy - professional tennis player and son of a famous movie star Teddy Montgomery (Trevor Donovan). This new character will reportedly come between Adrianna and Navid.

Rumer Willis Lesbian Kiss Still Not a Sure Thing on '90210'

There's nothing like a torrid girl-to-girl lip-lock to spruce up the ratings, but 90210 guest star Rumer Willis is still not sure whether her lesbian character Gia will go that way and that far when she makes her debut on the upcoming season of the CW series.

"I don't know yet," says 21-year-old Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. "I've only done two episodes, and we're just kind of seeing how she fits in with the storyline and how she fits in with the group."

Returning on September 8, 90210 is one of the first shows to kick off its fall season, and while everyone might be engrossed in a guessing game as to who was it that Annie (Shenae Grimes) hit, 90210 newcomer Trevor Donovan reveals that his character's coming to West Beverly High will bring fourth a potential love triangle, most probably involving Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes), with whom his character has a past.

Talking to Daemon's TV, Donovan says his character Teddy definitely has history with Adrianna from a few years ago. "So there are some feelings being brought back," he adds. "A lot of the other girls in the high school also seem to find something endearing about him as well. So there will definitely be plenty of sexual tension and definitely some drama going on. So it should be interesting."

New Surfer Chick on '90210'

Set to bring some feistiness on Bev High is a new surfer chick who will turn a few heads on 90210, TV Guide reports. Newcomer Amalia Zinser (no Wikipedia entry, gasp) has been cast to play Ivy, a surfer chick who will reportedly flirt with both Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and Liam (Matt Lanter) at the beach - something that doesn't bode well for both Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), who will patch things up on the upcoming second season.

"She's the quintessential California girl -- easy-going, athletic and full of fun," a source says, adding that Ivy's first appearance will be sometime in October. Zinser's prior screen credits include guest spots on Cold Case, Southland, and Cupid.

Apparently, no 90210 or Gossip Girl showrunner was listening so AnnaLynne McCord reiterated her call for a 90210-Gossip Girl crossover, E! Online reports. She's not bent on giving up on the idea, as she remains to have the hots for Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass of the other CW series.

"I still want that to happen," she said. "I think if I keep speaking about it, it will happen."

McCord, who plays Beverly Hills bad girl Naomi Clark on the 90210 reboot, previously revealed that her producers have actually mentioned the idea to the cast, who in turn was "very much" into doing it.

As for more realistic ideas, McCord added that the person she would like to work with the most is no other than President Barack Obama. "Naomi goes to the White House to meet the president would be an awesome storyline. Of course, Naomi would be going with some personal ulterior motive that has nothing to do with helping anybody."

We already know that it won't be a kind season for Annie (Shenae Grimes) on 90210, in no small part thanks to her running over someone on the finale last season. As if that wasn't enough, E! Online reports that the casualty's nephew Jasper Herman will show up to hunt her, although it won't happen that easily; there's a little manipulation involved.

The rep for Zachary Ray Sherman, best known for his role his role on Fifteen and Pregnant, has confirmed that the actor will be playing the role. "He's the nephew of the guy that Annie hit, and you get to see how he encompasses himself into the relationships of Beverly Hills," the rep said.

In case you didn't notice it, Jack Huston was just given a role on Eclipse. Now, as I said before, most of the world will know him for more than being Cat Deeley's boyfriend, although I didn't even know that until I started looking for photos. And that's the theme of my Twilight roundup at the moment: couples, as much as I don't like writing about them, because the discussion only descends to either Robert or Kristen splitting up, or getting together, or starting a family on the basis of an unbuttoned button. And everyone else wishing it wasn't the case, or something.

So, yes, Twilight couples, one of them not exactly a Twilight couple, but considering the past, you can call them a Twilight couple. Have I spoken too much? Obviously I feel a bit uncomfortable. On with the improved bits, then!

Jennie Garth To Return to '90210' Season 2

Kelly Taylor will be back to 90210 after all. Entertainment Weekly reports that Jennie Garth is set to return to the CW reboot this season, refuting reports that the show's producers had not approached the Beverly Hills 90210 alum to reprise her role.

Garth has signed a deal to return this fall for multiple episodes, starting in episode 3, when her character, West Beverly High School guidance counselor Kelly gives Harry (Rob Estes) advice on how to deal with a certain "situation" with Annie (Shenae Grimes). Some say she will be the first to uncover Annie's hit-and-run incident in the season finale.

90210 executive producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair previously said that she'd try to "move away" from the show's nostalgia, which is due in part to the return of several original cast members in the debut season, including Garth, Shannen Doherty, and Tori Spelling. Both Doherty and Spelling have yet to sign up renewal deals.

The sophomore run of 90210 begins September 8 on the CW.

John Schneider Packs Up For '90210'

It's been a while since John Schneider left Smallville--or, should I say, it's been a while since Jonathan Kent left us by dying of a heart attack? He is returning to the CW, though, playing another one of those father roles--but Clark Kent ain't getting his adoptive dad back. Someone else will.

Schneider's joining the cast of another CW drama, 90210, and he's set to play Liam's stepdad from the second episode of the show's upcoming season. You might know that Liam's not exactly chummy-chummy with his stepdad, who works as a plastic surgeon, sources told Zap2it.

"Crazy Annie is in for a tough time. Dark days are on their way for Miss Wilson," writes Korbi Ghosh. "Not only does the whole school hate Annie, but her own brother [Dixon, played by Tristan Wilds] will be avoiding her come fall. Jason Priestley, whose role as Brandon Walsh on Beverly Hills 90210 catapulted him to mainstream popularity in the 1990s, welcomed a boy Thursday last week in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the actor's representative Marla Farrell says the couple refused to offer further details, including the baby's name and weight. The baby is his second child with make-up artist wife Naomi, alongside 2-year-old daughter, Ava.

Despite not returning to West Beverly Hills for the CW reboot, Priestley, 39, had take on directorial duties, as he directed the episode when co-star Tori Spelling returned to 90210. He will reportedly also direct the 18th episode of the series, alongside five episodes of ABC Family drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Spelling played Donna Martin on the original Beverly Hills 90210, a role which she reprised on the CW series for two episodes as special guest star.

Days of our Lives bad boy Jeremy Horton and Abercrombie and Fitch model Trevor Donovan has bagged a recurring role on the modern reboot of 90210 on the CW, Entertainment Weekly reports. The 30-year-old actor will play suave and charming tennis prodigy and movie star son Teddy, who'll be coming back to West Beverly Hills High School. Donovan will star immediately upon 90210's September 8 return for its sophomore run.

Donovan played Jeremy Horton on the long-running soap for a little over four months in 2007. The golden boy role on 90210 will be his first foray in primetime television, in what was described as a heavily recurring role.

The CW has been abuzz with news of a potential crossover between reboots 90210 and Melrose Place, but if 90210 bad girl AnnaLynne McCord would have her way, the crossover would go all the way to the East Coast; specifically the Upper East Side.

"I think the Beverly Hills bad girl should team up with New York's bad boy and have some fun," the actress who plays Naomi Clark tells E! Online. "It would be naughty-naughty."

As for the more probable crossover, McCord, 21, adds that while they don't know the details of the arrangement yet, the 90210 producers have actually mentioned the idea to the cast, and that they are "very much" into doing it.

McCord was the second actor to be cast on the CW reboot of 90210, and while her character was initially conceived as a supporting role, by the end of the debut run, she started being referred to as among the series' lead.

It's time to mark your calendars, because the CW has announced the premiere dates for its fall shows. As they did last season, the CW is bringing out most of its shows earlier than the other networks to try and earn some loyal viewers before they get a chance to see everything else.

The big news is that the CW has decided to switch its Monday shows, so now One Tree Hill will air at 8pm and Gossip Girl is being pushed back to 9pm. The news is great for Gossip Girl, as now it's not up against House and Heroes., but instead against Lie to Me and the new drama Trauma.
