Eric Secharia is featured as a contestant in the MTV network’s competitive reality television series Making Menudo. He is 15 years old and hails from Valencia, CA. Eric has earned the distinction of being the only competitor who made it past the initial audition screenings back in LA, though he brings with him a swagger that reflects his cocky and self-confident demeanor. Quick on his feet and an expert in the art of moving his body, his dancing talent is his biggest asset, but he needs to likewise improve his singing ability in order to stand a fighting chance against the other boys.

However, Eric also faces the challenge of further proving himself simply because he’s only half-Hispanic, rather than full-blooded like his fellow competitors. Given Menudo’s background and target audience, the other young men with the ambition to snag a spot on the final five are entertaining the notion that Eric won’t turn out to be worthy or committed enough. Many of them even view him as little more than an opportunist simply looking to make his life a lot easier, rather than a true fan of the original group’s musical style. It’s up to Eric to blast past their inherent prejudice and prove himself as equally worthy of the Menudo name as any of them.
