American actress Elizabeth Keifer was born on November 14, 1961 in Palisades, California. She is best known for playing Blake Marler on the long-running CBS soap opera Guiding Light. She joined the cast in 1992, when she assumed the role from Sherry Stringfield. Training for the role, she studied acting at the Academy of Stage and Cinema Arts, later learning voice at the University of California in Los Angeles.
Not a stranger to daytime drama, Elizabeth Keifer has appeared on other soaps like The Young and the Restless, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives. Other than her soap opera roles, she has had guest spots in a number of television programs as well. In 1981, she began her career getting cast on an episode of Happy Days, and was seen later as a guest on Cheers. She was seen in The Facts of Life, Full House, 21 Jump Street, Married with Children, and Freddy’s Nightmares. In 2005, she landed a role in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, later following it up with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Some of the made-for-TV productions she has had roles in include Ladykiller, Dallas: The Early Years and Thursday’s Child. In 1989, Keifer was seen on the action film Rising Storm, also starring June Chadwick, Graham Clark, Wayne Crawford, and Zach Galligan. In 1997, she was nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award, under the Best Supporting Actress category, because of her portrayal of Blake in Guiding Light.
Elizabeth Keifer has also performed on stage. Her theater credits have been marked by roles in productions of Young Americans, The Wisdom of Eve, Beyond Therapy, The Pirates of Penzance, and The MoMologues. She is also known for being a presenter at the 2007 Jefferson Awards for Public Service. She has worked on the direct-to-video comedy film, The Clique, in 2008 as well.
