English film, television and theatre actor Eamonn Walker was born on June 12, 1962 in London. His father was Granadian while his mother was Trinidadian. Raised in Islington, Eamonn attended Hungerford School and later studied social work at the University of North London. Aside from acting, he trained as a dancer and even joined the Explosive Dance Theater Company in London. However, an injury prevented him from pursuing a career in dancing so he decided to study at the New York Film School in the United States.
In 1983, Eamonn Walker made his professional acting debut in the musical Labeled with Love. This led to an appearance on television in 1985, on an episode of Dempsey & Makepeace. This was followed by a role in the children’s anthology series Dramarama, which also aired on ITV. He later won the role of Winston in the first series of In Sickness and In Health on BBC One, and he soon appeared on an episode of Bulman on Granada TV. Other appearances at the time were those in Tales of the Unexpected and The Bill.
In 1991, Walker landed his first film role. He played the character Carlton on Young Soul Rebels, and then appeared on the TV series Bergerac. His next projects became Love Hurts, The Old Boy Network, Birds of a Feather and One Foot in the Grave. In 1994, he starred in another film, which was titled Shopping. He continued appearing on British sitcoms before he forayed into American television. He soon got the part of Jake Brown in the miniseries Supply & Demand, as well as rising to fame for portraying Kareem Said on the hit HBO series Oz. He won the award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series in the inaugural CableACE Awards for his performance in the first series of Oz in the ceremony held in Los Angeles. Then in 1999 he received a Satellite Awards nomination for Best Actor in a TV Drama Series for his performances in Oz. Soon, Walker was cast in films like Once in the Life, Unbreakable, and on Life on the Street, Homicide: The Movie. Other credits of his include the Fox series Justice, the long-running medical series ER, the war film Tears of the Sun, and on The Jury. He has also acted with Nicolas Cage in Lord of War, and was seen on the adventure film Duma. Walker later made his Broadway debut, playing Marc Anthony in the Julius Caesar production at the Belasco Theatre.
