Donal Logue started his acting career in theatre while attending college at Harvard. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on February 27, 1966 but lived most of his time growing up in El Centro, California. There, he attended Central Union High School, as well as St. Ignatius College Enfield, Middlesex, England during his junior year. He later studied History at Harvard University before pursuing his acting career.
Donal Logue got his start in the entertainment industry by appearing on several television movies. He made his big break into movies in 1992, when he took on the role of Dr. Gunter Janek in the film Sneakers. Later on, he received a guest-starring role in the Northern Exposure episode titled “Baby Blues.” In 1993, he became known as the rival of agent Fox Mulder in the hit series The X Files. During the early 1990s, his character of Jimmy the cab driver became a staple in MTV promos. At the time, he also got cast in Disclosure (1994), Little Women (1994), Dear God (1996) and several episodes of Public Morals. From 1997 to 1999, Logue played the role of Dickie Flood on The Practice, and also appeared on Felicity for a short time. He was also seen on blockbusters like Blade as the vampire Quinn, on Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, and on the comedy The Big Tease.
In 2000, Logue’s career was marked with movies like The Million Dollar Hotel, Reindeer Games and Steal This Movie. He later starred alongside Mel Gibson on The Patriot, where he played the character Dan Scott. He rose to fame when he got the part of the central character in The Tao of Steve, which led to him getting a role in the long-running hit series ER. In 2001, Logue began appearing as the father in Grounded for Life, but eventually dropped out. He later worked on the ABC sitcom The Knights of Prosperity, playing the character Eugene Girkin. Other credits of his include Just Like Heaven as the psychiatrist of Mark Ruffalo’s character, as well as the VH1 series I Love the ‘80s, I Love the ‘70s and I Love the ‘80s Strikes Back. Later on, Logue starred in Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage, in David Fincher’s Zodiac, and alongside Mark Wahlberg in Max Payne. He has also been seen on several episodes of the series Life.
