'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Returns

May 26, 2009

Our favorite bounty hunter (or only) returns tomorrow with new episodes of the A&E reality show   at 9pm. Known as the world's most famous bounty hunter, Duane "Dog" Chapman, his team that includes his wife Beth and the fearless posse will continue to hunt down fugitives in both Hawaii and Colorado while trying to maintain their marriage, families, and communities.

The hit reality series and its central figure suffered a setback when on mid-May, El Paso county dropped attempted murder charges against someone who allegedly shot Chapman with a handgun during an attempt to arrest a fugitive in late April.  The case was dismissed for lack of evidence and conflicting statements by Dog, his son Leland, and Bobby Brown. The incident happened in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the alleged gunman, Hoang Nguyen, escaped on a motorcycle only to be captured by Dog six hours later.

Triumphant Return for 'Dog the Bounty Hunter'

July 16, 2008

The bounty hunter is back on the hunt.  Tonight marks the premiere of the fifth season of Dog the Bounty Hunter, the reality show which features the adventures of bail bondsman and bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, his family and his associates.

This marks the return of the series on A&E after the network pulled the plug on the show last November.  This was after an audio recording of Chapman using racial slurs was released to the public.  His controversial comments, aimed at his son Tucker's African-American girlfriend, became the center of calls from civil rights leaders for A&E to cancel his show.  Despite a statement from Chapman, who apologized for his “regrettable use of very inappropriate language,” the network suspended production of the series for an indefinite period of time.

Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, a group dedicated to promoting responsible fatherhood amongst African-Americans.

March 2, 2008

The Chapmans are the subject of yet another controversy.  Tucker Chapman, the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter's Duane "Dog" Chapman, has been arrested for violating multiple terms of his parole.  He has reportedly been taken to the Oahu Correction Facility last Friday.

According to TMZ, Tucker's parole officer conducted a surprise home inspection last week, and didn't like what he found.  The officer then brought Tucker in on Friday, revoked his parole and sent him to prison.  His alleged violations include associating with known felons, failing a drug test and walking away from a rehab facility.
