As a dance crew that features five cheerleader-type girls and two guys, Distorted X says they want to prove that there are more to girl groups more than being cute. In fact, one of them left behind a job as junior land technician for an oil and gas company just to dance. According to them, the guys in the group bring strength, while the girls bring feistiness.
Distorted X is one of the dance crews competing in Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew, featuring street dance crews in the country. Hosted by Mario Lopez, America's Best Dance Crew is produced by American Idol judge and record producer Randy Jackson. The show boasts of a panel of topnotch judges, including hip-hop choreographer and street dance authority Shane Sparks, superstar MC Lil Mama, and singer, song-writer, and record producer, JC Chasez of the disbanded boy group NSYNC.
Not only did Distorted X break the cheerleader tag, JC even said that they are the "best-hitting" girls so far in the competition. In the Houston audition, they were told that they look cute but when they dance, they become hot. One of the judges, however, think that they had to bring the level of difficulty one notch up to really make it on America's Best Dance Crew.
