Biography

American actor David Krumholtz was born on May 15, 1978 in Queens, New York, to a dental assistant and postal worker. His mother was originally from Hungary, and moved to the U.S. in 1956. David began his acting career when he was only 13, as he followed his friends to the open audition for the Broadway play Conversations with My Father. He didn’t expect to get the part, but he eventually did and enabled him to work alongside Judd Hirsch, Tony Shalhoub and Jason Biggs. This became Krumholtz’s Broadway debut, which led to him appearing on a number of films afterwards. He later co-starred with Michael J. Fox on Life with Mikey and alongside Christina Ricci on Addams Family Values. He was even nominated for a Young Artist Award for his performance in the former. These films got the attention of the critics, and the actor soon rose to fame as the sarcastic elf Bernard on the films The Santa Clause and its sequel. His first television series was Monty, starring Henry Winkler, but it only lasted a few episodes.

David Krumholtz film credits include Ray, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, Serenity, Slums of Beverly Hills, The Mexican, Sidewalks of New York, Scorched, Ten Things I Hate About You, and Liberty Heights. He also shot the television mockumentary Live! about an executive putting together a reality show with contestants playing Russian roulette, released in 2007. His television credits include guest-starring roles in Undeclared, Freaks and Geeks and ER. He also starred in the television movie Big Shot: Confessions of a Campus Bookie. David later joined the cast of the CBS series Numb3rs, as the character Charlie Eppes. This became the role that catapulted him to even more fame. In 2008, he reprised his role of Goldstein on Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, and was seen on 2007’s Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, by Jake Kasdan and Judd Apatow.
