American actor Dan Byrd was born on November 20, 1985 in Marietta, Georgia. Inspired to become an actor after watching the Broadway presentation of The Phantom of the Opera when he was eight years old, he started appearing in several local productions and television commercials. He got his big break in 1998, when he was cast in the Lifetime drama Any Day Now, when he played the role of a young Colliar Sims (later played by Chris Mulkey). He had occasional television roles after—aside from television movies, these include guest roles in Judging Amy, The Fighting Fitzgeralds, ER and CSI—he got his first film starring role in 2004, when he joined the cast of the teen romantic comedy A Cinderella Story.
Byrd then appeared in several films. His films include Checking Out, Outlaw Trail: The Treasure of Butch Cassidy, The Hills Have Eyes, Jam and Lonely Hearts. In 2004, he was cast in the short-lived drama Clubhouse, which revolves around a boy (Jeremy Sumpter) who gets his dream job of working as a bat boy for his favorite major league baseball team. The series was cancelled after only five episodes. He also had more guest appearances on television, including roles in Joan of Arcadia, Ghost Whisperer and Boston Legal.
Byrd then got the lead role in the comedy Aliens in America, which aired in 2007. He played the role of Justin Tolchuk, a geeky 16-year-old high school who’s being bullied and made fun of by other kids. Her mother (Amy Pietz), desperate to make him as cool and popular as his sister (Lindsey Shaw), signs up for a foreign exchange program, imagining that a Nordic teener will come by and somehow make Justin cool. Instead, a 16-year-old Pakistani boy (Adhir Kalyan) was sent over, and despite differences in their culture, makes an unlikely friendship. The series was cancelled after one season.
