Kelli Finglass has established herself as the director of the world famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, whose career sits pretty independently from their field counterparts.  In fact, the dance troupe became so famous that a reality show was developed after them.  Finglass appears on CMT’s Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, which aims to find women who embody the heart and soul of a true Dallas Cheerleader—beautiful, graceful, funky and empowered.

Recently, Finglass spoke to Newsweek, revealing her thoughts on her journey as the head of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders while juggling her job as a typical Texan wife and mother.

It’s amazing how creative producers are when it comes to coming up with reality programs that showcase not just something interesting out of the ordinary lives of some, but also entertains us with the sometimes wacky, at times overly dramatic real life events of individuals who bare their hearts and souls to the camera.  Like any other reality series, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders pits individuals to compete for a spot in one of the most admired dance groups in the country.  Last season, we not only saw a fresh batch of aspiring dancers, but also some familiar faces who have returned for another shot at fame, like Meagan Flaherty, Natalie Woods, Candice Carr and Miranda James.

Out of the proliferation of reality shows that have sprouted since Mark Burnett first invented Survivor, one of the truly discriminating ones has to be Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.  Now on its second season, the competition sifts through hundreds of longtime hopefuls to uncover who will be worthy of the famed star-spangled Dallas Cowboys cheerleading uniform.

There are stringent qualifications for wannabe Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC).  Aside from the right look and shape, the girls must have real talent and skill to even be considered for what is perhaps, the most famous group of professional sports cheering team.  The criteria are so tough that even those already on the squad must audition each year just to maintain their spot on the squad.
