Towering at 6’4”, Colin Salmon was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, England in 1962. Salmon’s imposing stature and smooth, silky voice has made him and the characters he portrays memorable to audiences. Salmon got his start on television as Sgt. Robert Oswald in the hit British miniseries, Prime Suspect 2. The son of an nurse, he attended Putteridge and Ashcroft High School before he got his start in acting.
British actor Colin Salmon is best known for appearing in the a recurring role as M’s chief of staff, Charles Robinson in three of Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond films. Salmon’s time with Brosnan on Die Another Day, The World Is Not Enough and Tomorrow Never Dies prompted the recent Bond star to nominate Salmon as the first black actor to play Agent 007. However, his early career was marked with roles in many low-key British television shows. Some of these were Lovejoy, Murder Most Horrid, Between the Lines, Soldier Soldier, Silent Witness and several episodes of Shine on Harvey Moon. He has also been known for portraying David Tyrel in the BBC horror series Hex. The charming actor was fit for the part of David, who has a remarkable flair for gaining people’s confidences and getting them to trust and confide in him. Salmon also rose to fame as Dr. Rowan Dunlop in the UK series Bad Girls, and even recording the role of Kerr Avon in the radio series of Blake’s 7.
Throughout his career, Colin Salmon has worked twice with film director Paul W. S. Anderson. He has appeared on Resident Evil in 2002, and on Alien vs. Predator in 2004. Other roles that Salmon has been seen as are those in shows like Little Miss Jocelyn, Party Animals, Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Dr. Who. He has also worked on films such as Punisher: War Zone, Credo and Blood: The Last Vampire.
