Biography

Actor Colin Morgan was born on January 1, 1986 in Northern Ireland. Pursuing his interests in the performing arts, he gained National Diploma in Performing Arts at Belfast Institute of Further & Higher Education in 2004. Later on, he graduated from the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2007. Morgan began his career on the stage, appearing on an Old Vic adaptation of Pedro Almodovar’s Todo sobre mi madre. He later took on the title role in the Young Vic stage production of DBC Pierre’s Vernon God Little.

Colin Morgan has taken on roles on several television shows as well. In 2007, he was seen on the Christmas special episode of The Catherine Tate Show. He played the character John Leary, and followed it up with another role the next year. It was in the Doctor Who episode “Midnight” that he portrayed the character Jethro Cane, before he landed a part that shot him to fame. In 2008, he was cast as the title role in the BBC TV series Merlin, which focuses on the myth of the legendary wizard during his young days. Joining him in the series are fellow actors Bradley James, Richard Wilson, Anthony Head, Angel Coulby, Katie McGrath, John Hurt, Michelke Ryan and Santiago Cabrera. For his role in Merlin, Morgan was awarded the Caron Keating Outstanding Newcomer Award from the Variety Club Showbiz Awards.

Morgan has also been involved in radio, and has made his debut in Cry Babies by Kim Newman. It occurred in 2009 and was heard on BBC Radio 4. He has also been slated for a role in the big screen, playing Calum in the film The Sea Change. The movie is based on the novel Island by Jane Rogers. Other theatre roles of Morgan’s include A Prayer for My Daughter, also n the Young Vic theatre in London.

At present, Morgan is part of the AMC series Humans.
