An American actor of Irish ancestry, Christopher Kennedy Masterson was born on January 22, 1980 in Long Island, New York. He is a member of the Church of Scientology, and is well-known for his role as eldest brother Francis Wilkerson in the hit sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. He has also been seen on the L.A. Music Center production of Tom Stoppard’s play Arcadia, playing the dual roles of Gus and Augustus. The younger brother of actor Danny Masterson, Christopher has appeared on the New York University production of The Sound of Music.
Though famous for playing Francis Wilkerson in Malcolm in the Middle, Christopher Masterson has also previously guest-starred in a number of TV series. He was featured on the VH1 anthology series Back in Black, playing a serial killer alongside Eric Roberts. Masterson was also in Murphy Brown, The Dead Zone, and was seen with his brother on That ‘70s Show as well. He later took on roles on the independent films Waterborne in 2005 and Intellectual Property in 2006. Waterborne won the Audience Award at the Southwest Film Festival. Some of Masterson’s other film credits include playing Buddy in the Wayan Brothers’ film Scary Movie 2. He also made an appearance on the film Nice Guys Finish Last, the romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding and alongside Edward Norton and Edward Furlong in American History X. Christopher Masterson has also been credited for his performance in Dragonheart: A New Beginning, The Sunchaser, Singles, the TV production of Wuthering Heights and the short film Hold On starring Melissa Joan Hart. People magazine has voted the actor twice as one of 50 Most Beautiful People as well. When Malcolm in the Middle wrapped up in 2006, Masterson worked on the thriller The Masquerade, and was soon cast in the 2008 adventure film The Art of Travel.
