TVGuide recently released their list for Best and Worst television shows of the year. Their choices are relatively solid, as far as these end of the year lists go. As always, and what proves to be the point of these lists, I have some disagreements, and I'm sure anyone with a pulse does also.

TVGuide chooses not to rank their lists, just listing them in random order. I'm so used to the clear-cut rankings made by the modern-day list maker that those of the "in no particular" variety feel chaotic. I need order. Nonetheless, their choices are after the jump, followed by some commentary.

Fall 2006 New Shows Rank: #22 Gist of the Show: “Celebrities� compete by teaming up with “popular� singers to perform Celebrity Duets of famous songs. Cast Member Looking To Reclaim Former Glory: Wow. Let's just say the amount of collective fame lost between everyone participating in Celebrity Duets could choke a herd of mastodon. Similar in Theme to: Dancing with the Stars, except far more offensive and depressing. Time Slot Competition: Close to Home, Las Vegas Likelihood of Second Season: It kills me to admit, but FOX lives off this kind of crap: 50%. Final Word: Celebrity Duets is the kind of show that you expect to be on VH-1. It might as well be, because none of the participants have been famous for years, and all this show proves are the lengths to which a former celebrity will go to get back some semblance of recognition. -Oscar Dahl << Return to 2006 Fall Preview: New Shows 11-23
