Born on March 14, 1965 in Baton Rogue, Louisiana, Catherine Dent is an actress best known for her numerous roles on television and the movies. The daughter of politician Fred Dent, who lost the Louisiana gubernatorial race, she attended North Carolina School of the Arts and graduated in 1993. She gave birth to a boy on December 14, 2005 in Los Angeles, after marrying Peter Eliasberg since 2002.
Best known for her role as Officer Danny Stofer on the FX police drama The Shield, Catherine Dent’s film debut was in the Paul Newman starrer Nobody’s Fool in 1994, where she played as Newman’s daughter-in-law. This was followed by a string of features, such as Auto Focus in 2002 opposite Greg Kinnear, Replicant in 2001 with Jean Claude Van Damme, Someone Like You in 2001 playing Ashley Judd’s sister, and The Majestic in 2001 with comedian Jim Carrey. Other than huge commercial releases, Dent also has her fair share of indie’s, such as A Girl's Guide to Sex, Jaded, A New Game, The Debutant and Dangerous Proposition.
After moving to New York, Catherine Dent then started appearing on East coast-based television series, such as HBO’s The Sopranos, Third Watch, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and New York Undercover. After relocating to Los Angeles, however, she found herself appearing on Frasier, Dharma and Greg, The X-Files, The Pretender, Chicago Hope and The Invisible Man.
Dent’s other screen credits include a starring role on sci-fi mini-series Steven Spielberg Presents Taken in 2002, Baby Doll, Maggie in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Bang The Drum Slowly, and The Street of the Sun. In New York, she appeared Off-Broadway in Amoeba Concerto.
Dent has also appeared on episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Numb3rs.
