American actor Brian McNamara was born on November 21, 1960 in Long Island, New York. He made his television debut in 1984, when he starred in the romantic comedy The Flamingo Kid. He has appeared as a guest in numerous television shows, initially appearing in several episodes of Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere in 1986, and later appearing in other shows such as Family Ties, L.A. Law, Nurses, Murphy Brown, Melrose Place, Seinfeld, Suddenly Susan, Sliders, Ellen, Star Trek: Voyager, CSI, ER, The OC and NYPD Blue.
McNamara’s first regular television role came in 1991, when he joined the critically-acclaimed series Homefront. There, he played a recurring role, that of Arthur Schillhab. In 1995, he played the lead in the short-lived sitcom Pig Sty—struggling writer Randy Fitzgerald, who is frustrated at his inability to sell any of his stories. He also was a regular in the short-lived science fiction series Mercy Point, and the similarly short-lived comedy Manhattan, AZ.
McNamara’s latest television role is in the drama Army Wives, which premiered in 2007. There, he played Brigadier General Michael Holden, the husband of “army wife” Claudia Holden (Kim Delaney) and post commander at Fort Marshall, who contended with allegations of racism during his tenure.
McNamara also appeared in several films. These include Caddyshack II, Arachnophobia, Gone in Sixty Seconds, You Got Nothin’, The Legend of Tillamook’s Gold and I Know Who Killed Me. His role in the 1987 television movie Billionaire Boys Club earned him a Golden Globe nomination the following year.
