The boys of Boogie Bots said they got their crew's name from Saturday morning cartoons, such as Power Rangers and Voltron. According to them, it symbolizes each member having a different and unique style yet forming a single, harmonious unit. Without one member, they end result would be different. Hailing from Washington, D.C., Boogie Bots is a dance crew composed of five guys.
Boogie Bots is one of the dance crews competing in Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew, featuring street dance crews in the country. Hosted by Mario Lopez, America's Best Dance Crew is produced by American Idol judge and record producer Randy Jackson. The show boasts of a panel of topnotch judges, including hip-hop choreographer and street dance authority Shane Sparks, superstar MC Lil Mama, and singer, song-writer, and record producer, JC Chasez of the disbanded boy group NSYNC.
Boogie Bots landed the spot after first impressing the judges at the New York audition, where the judges were reminded of season 1 winner JabbaWockeeZ. In the live casting special, they were applauded for a nice routine which showed enough potential and a "poppin" ending. Moreover, one of its members Jozar said his dad, who taught him the wave when he was five or six, went into coma six months ago and, thus, he was dedicating the dance to him.
