While fans are waiting for the May 2nd airing of
Zoey 101's season finale flick to find out if Zoey really ends up with Chase, many are following
Jamie Lynn Spears' real life struggle as she deals with her teenage pregnancy, and how she dodges the media's inquiry on why her family seems to be avoiding her lately. Numerous reports have circulated, including Jamie Lynn's supposed engagement to 18-year-old boyfriend and daddy-to-be Casey Aldridge, and her pre-nuptial agreement with him if ever they decide to push through with the wedding.
Recently, another celebrity young mother has spoken up to give Jamie Lynn some advice on how to deal with motherhood at such a young age.
Solange Knowles, the now 21-year old sister of pop/R&B diva Beyonce Knowles, has recently spoken with Us Magazine about her experiences on being a young mother. In 2004, an 18-year-old Knowles gave birth to a baby boy named Daniel, fathered by her former husband, football player Daniel Smith. Soon after the birth of Daniel, however, Smith and Knowles separated.
"I'm sure a lot of people perceived that I was gonna be a young, irresponsible mom," Knowles told Us Magazine. However, she points out that irresponsibility could be a choice one makes, and can be done regardless of how old you are.
"I think that there are some moms who are 35 who are just as irresponsible," she said. Knowles believes that it all comes down to one's initiative to make the right decisions for one's self and one's family.
"You just have to make the best decisions for you," Knowles said. "You have to decide what's best for you."
With celebrities' lives always being chronicled by the media, she understands that there may be some level of difficulty in dodging the public's eyes. Nonetheless, Knowles believes that you still have the last say in things that you have control over.
"Who are we to say what's right and wrong for a person?" she says. During the time that she was pregnant with Daniel, Knowles decided to move away to a place where there were no prying eyes and watchful cameras. She felt that it was better to live her life away from the media during the crucial time of childbirth.
"I moved to the country for a year without any nannies or babysitters when Daniel was born," Knowles recalled. "My parents lived on a whole opposite part of the world."
Recently, it was reported that Spears and Aldridge were checking out some homes in the Louisiana/Mississippi area, as the couple were thinking of moving together some place quiet to welcome their baby. Could this be the first step to becoming good parents to their child? With
Zoey 101 concluded and no upcoming projects yet set for the 17-year-old actress, it seems that Spears is indeed going to focus on her baby in the coming months.
"My son has been my focus ever since the day he was born," Solange Knowles shared. "He's been the light of my life, the inspiration behind everything."
