Actress, dancer and singer Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick, better known as
Vitamin C, was born July 20, 1961 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. She graduated from Cedar High School and made her debut in the music industry when she became the lead singer for the pop rock band Eve's Plum. In 1998, she worked on a dance/pop album, which she called
Vitamin C. Eventually, Elektra Records produced her album and it went up to the 29th spot of the Billboard 200. One of her most successful singles was “Graduation (Friends Forever),” which enjoyed much radio play.
Her first big screen appearance was in
Hairspray, where she played Amber von Tussle. Other film projects soon followed and she was seen in
The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear, Dracula 2000, Liar Liar, Rock Star and
My X-Girlfriend's Wedding Reception among many others. Vitamin C also did cameo roles on shows
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Haunted and
The Equalizer. She was a judge on WB's
Superstar USA and was also part of
Celebrity Bootcamp. Her Broadway credits include
Passion, Company and
Into the Woods.
She was featured in magazines
Femme Fatales, Maxim and
Teen People. In 2000, she was voted as one of
Cosmopolitan's Fun and Fearless Females.
In 2006, Vitamin C starred in the independent TV sitcom
THE LEK. It was released on the Internet through YouTube.
She is married to guitarist and composer Michael Kotch.
Vitamin C is one of the three judges on the Lifetime TV reality series
Your Mama Don't Dance. Dubbed as the dance competition with a twist, contestants on the show auditioned without knowing that their dancing partners would be their very own parents. Five male contestants and five female contestants would foxtrot and mambo with their mothers and fathers as they compete to win the title and the $100,000 cash prize.
