Sorry, tweens! Disney darling Selena Gomez is saying farewell to her role as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel's popular show
Wizards of Waverly Place when its fourth season ends, according to
Perez Hilton (yeah, I wish it was from a different source too).
"Unfortunately, I'm doing my last season of my
show, which I'm really heartbroken about. That's gonna be a terrible
time for me. I'm gonna do a movie for my show, which I'll be excited to
end it with, and then a tour," Selena said.
The good news for fans is that Selena's smiling face will still be with us through next season, as well as on the silver screen starting July 23 in
Ramona and Beezus (she also just finished filming
Monte Carlo with
Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester), and she has an album dropping later this year.
"The title so far of my album is
A Year Without Rain," Selena said. "It's basically one of my favorite songs on the record. It's got a more feel-good dance beat and feel. I love it. It's different, kind of shows my growth of my music. I think the lyrics are powerful, in a way."
"There's the song called 'Intuition'--that's one of my favorites," the petite pop-tartlet added. "The message is basically every decision that you regret or second-guess, [just] do it [anyway]. I love that message so much."
So surely there'll be life for Selena after the Mouse, right? If in doubt, she can look to other former Disney divas (and divos) for inspiration (of what not to do, in most cases). Let's see, we've got Justin Timberlake, Shia LaBeouf, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, JC Chasez, Hillary Duff ... who would make the best role model for her?
