Who Wants to be a Superhero? season 2 brings on the cheese whiz full throttle for yet another week, this time trimming a fifth wannabe superhero to get us down to our coveted final four. I've been calling the upcoming weeks like this:
Whip-Snap,
Hygena,
Parthenon go home with a
Defuser vs.
Hyper-Strike finale. How close to being dead on am I? Excelsior!
This week went straight for the plot. Doctor Dark is diverting the power away from Los Angeles, and it is up to the heroes to work together to thwart his plan. The task at hand? Crawl through a very tight tube into a dark chamber and disengage the fuses that are keeping Doctor Dark's machinery humming. Of course, along the way will be all sorts of icky things designed to test the mettle of our heroes.
Only three have serious problems. The Defuser almost gets stuck a couple of times, but completes the task on time. Parthenon shrieks at the sight of some snakes. Hygena slows everything down, as usual. Whip-Snap is emotional, as usual, but in general rises to the occasion.
As a reward for completing the challenge, the team gets a night out at a restaurant. They are to uphold their Hero personas, and seem to do a fairly good job of it by mingling with the kids and being good role models and stuff. Defuser gives some kids some of his jacks.
Back at the lair, Doctor Dark interrupts the game room conference and says he has dirt on the heroes. Some of it is very lame, like Hyper-Strike failing to be able to perform a simple trick on a circus job, and Parthenon having a pirate room at his house. Some of it is a little risqué, like Whip-Snap stealing a friends car and sleeping on a guys roof that she had a crush on, Hygena looking to learn Burlesque. Probably the worst was The Defuser not graduating with his class, and also getting drunk and destroying a bathroom stall.
When it comes time for eliminations, we get Defuser on the red again, Hygena, and Whip-Snap. I think Defuser is a red herring, despite the drunken bathroom allegations. I am a bit surprised when Whip-Snap is eliminated. Emotional or not, she usually gets it done.
