Talk about awesome casting. Looks like we'll be meeting one of Bryan's exes this season on The New Normal, and that ex will be played by none other than White Collar's Matt Bomer.
The news came from The New Normal
creator himself, Ryan Murphy, who made the announcement via Twitter
earlier this week. TV Line
also reported the news of Murphy's tweet but said that reps for the series said that Bomer's deal hadn't closed at the time. So let's keep our fingers crossed that this happens, because I think Matt will make a great a guest star on the series.
As of this week on The New Normal, Bryan (Andrew Rannells) and David (Justin Bartha) had just gotten engaged in the most romantic, if rather odd, manner. Don't get me wrong, the whole scene was very cute but seeing a woman in gyno-stirrups in the background made me strangely uncomfortable. Though I did think it was sweet that David wanted to have their baby in on the proposal.
But once sexy Bomer shows up as the ex, we have to wonder if things will become tense between the couple. Let's face it, exes aren't usually introduced on a show unless they come bearing trouble. So does this mean that there may be some issues ahead for Bryan and David? Will David be jealous of Bryan's ex coming back into his life? Just what will bring his ex back anyway?
In addition to his starring role on USA's hit series White Collar, Bomer also appeared in an episode of Glee earlier this season as Blaine's brother, plus stripped down to nothing but a g-string in Magic Mike. Sadly, it's not likely that we'll see any singing or stripping when he visits The New Normal, but a girl can dream, can't she?
Then again, Bryan does produce a Glee-like TV show on the series so maybe it's possible that his ex was a cast member on the show who just so happens to like to break into song at the dinner table. That sounds plausible, right? Come on people, work with me here.
What do you think of this casting news? Do you think that Bomer is perfect to play Bryan's ex on The New Normal?
