, better known as Holly Tyler on What I Like About You
, is appearing in a new film called Sydney White
. The film is a modernized version of the classic fairytale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
, with the famous poisoned apple coming in the form of a computer.
"I get an apple computer from my father and the evil witch poisons it by getting a hacker to ruin my college essay," Bynes told The Early Show
co-anchor Hannah Storm. "So there's a bunch of different subtle hints to Snow White in the movie."
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Although Sydney White
is primarily based on the classic fairytale, Bynes said the film has references to her own life as well.
"I grew up loving Archie comics and I was obsessed and I collected them," Amanda Bynes said. "I have like 400. I still have them. I, basically, when I was meeting to do this movie, said 'What if my character had a comic book, you know, obsession?' So they added it in and now my character is a comic book freak as well, so it kind of makes her relate to dorks."
Bynes' Sydney goes to live with seven dorks to help them become more socially adept. Although Bynes is now one of Hollywood's most popular young stars, the 21-year-old actress says she can relate to the dorks' plight. Like any other teen, Bynes went through an akward phase and even felt “ugly” and “hideous” at one point in her life. Now that she's older and serves as a role model for young women, she doesn't want her fans to think that she is without flaw.
"I think that I really believe that you don't have to be perfect in order to, you know, be an actress or be whatever you want to be," Amanda Bynes said. "Also, I really feel like if you put your mind to something you can achieve it, you know?"
Bynes herself went after her dream to act at a young age. She launched her professional acting career when she was only seven years old, appearing in a number of stage productions and television series like Figure it Out
and All That
. In 1999, she starred in her own sketch comedy show in Nickelodeon, after which she was cast in the WB's What I Like About You.
What I Like About You
lasted for four seasons, after which Bynes appeared in a string of films, including She's the Man
. Sydney White
opens nationwide today.
