Justin Kirk, who currently stars as Andy Botwin on the Showtime television series Weeds, is feeling the pressure to live up to fans' expectations following several rave reviews about the dark comedy series, as well as his acclaimed acting.  While the show has recently earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, the 38-year-old actor has also distinctly been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series.

Despite the praises, he says that he doesn't let it go to his head.

“No it doesn't affect my performance.  I don't think so.  I just get so excited to see what's in on next so…I don't think so.  But it's nice especially…we're on cable…premium pay cable, the Showtime Network, which seems to be growing larger since we started… I do feel that I have to start living up to the accolades I've received and let me tell you that's a high bar,” the Weeds actor said.

When asked why his character fits in so well in the affluent California suburb of Agrestic, he said, “You'll never know in the sense of in being reliable…you're not quite sure how things will end up.  But in terms of the family and stuff, I feel like he's been pretty strong. I think that the dumbest aspect of everything is sort of…he's really become attached to [it].  Why else would he stay in Agrestic?  It's not the sort of atmosphere that he would necessarily thrive in.  Although he's got his weed and his buddies to smoke with and there are various hot moms running around…so I guess it's not so bad.”

Catch Justin Kirk, along with Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Tonye Patano, Hunter Parrish, Alexander Gould, and Kevin Nealon on Weeds every Monday at 10pm ET/PT on Showtime.
