'High School Musical' Star Vanessa Hudgens Talks Comics and Girl Power
Millions of kids look up to Gabriella Montez of High School Musical, but the actress who plays the character has idols of her own to inspire her. Vanessa Hudgens recently talked to MTV News about several fictional women that have affected her life and career.  None of them are Disney princesses though.

With so much on her plate these days, Vanessa Hudgens took some time off filming her revamped Beauty and the Beast flick titled Beastly to talk about her endeavors.  One of which is Zack Snyder's thriller Sucker Punch.  Because of that, the actress revealed that she's been a fan of his work for quite some time now.

MTV News asked about her enthusiasm for Snyder's work, and Hudgens revealed that she's already seen the movie 300 several times.  The film was adapted from Frank Miller's comic book, which prompted the reporters to ask the star if she'd want to bring any other characters to life on the big screen.

"Wonder Woman?" Hudgens answered.  She then recounted the story of how comics helped shape her childhood and lead her to choosing the career she took.

"Honestly, when I was a kid, one of the reasons my parents realized I loved showbiz was because I dressed up every single day in my Catwoman costume," the actress revealed.  "So maybe someday, down the line... I could play Catwoman."

She even cited Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal as one of her favorites.  Excited to take on a role similar to that with Sucker Punch, Hudgens is going all the way to promote women empowerment.

"It would have to be the right [character], but it's always fun, it's always great," the actress said.  "Women kicking ass, you know?"

It's no Gabriella Montez, but at least Vanessa Hudgens is slowly stepping out of those too-sweet stock roles.  She'll have to try harder though, but she's on her way to going Angelina Jolie, as she previously declared.  Catch the actress on the big screen when Beastly hits theaters later this year.
